Instead of camelot castle, I would put Deep woods, since that's where Lancelot get encountered, but i agree with the other choice, they should also include 2 new bosses for that dlc pack, one being Emerl, and the other being Infinite, they should've been in the base game.
Asteroid Coaster really should've been in the base game. Shadow was here with Omega in Colors DS. Sure it doesn't have anything to do with Shadow or Black Doom but it would've been interesting to see what they could've done with stuff like Doom Morph, Doom Wing and Doom Surf.
I agree. This should have taken the place of Chaos Island, Radical Highway should have been in place of Sunset Heights, and Black Comet should have been the final stage.
This made me realize that there was never any point in Shadow Generations where you visibly transition between 2D to 3D and vice versa. There are parts that are technically like that, like the start of Radical Highway Act 2, but the camera angles never made it obvious that you were currently in a 2D area before going to 3D.
@@royolaniye6643I think it's much better this way, I'm not a big fan of the 2D session kind of "getting in the way" of the 3D experience. I prefer both to be separate.
yeah but the thing is Chaos Island was from a recent game so they could reuse a lot of assets, so I see why they did it. the other guy commented on Colors dlc stages (like a bunch of them) and I think that would be perfect
Shadow could still visit Chaos Island in a future game, or maybe he was secretly there at the same time and the eruption we see in the level was from Sonic completing the pinball game. Plus, taking an open zone and turning it into a level for a boost game is super cool.
This looks great!! I have some suggestions though, if you don't mind. -At the very start, is it possible for Shadow to jump off the rail at any point? Maybe you could place some flying enemies for him to homing attack and create a shortcut. You could even place the enemies a great distance apart so players will have to use the spear gliding technique to reach them. Doesn't have to be enemies either; you could get creative and make a path of balloons or ring capsules to home onto! -During the first Doom Morph section, perhaps you could hide a chaos control capsule in one of the blue tank thingies as a fun secret. Alternatively, you could also hide a Chaos Dash Trail in one of those tank thingies to reward players who may have filled up their chaos control meter that early on in the stage by giving them a small shortcut! -If you weren't already planning on it, then I think adding the grind rail enemies from Rail Canyon would help to keep these long stretches of rail grinding interesting. -Consider cutting back on how many enemies you place. A subtle aspect of level design in Shadow Generations is how defeating enemies fills your chaos control meter, and how chaos Control will stop the in-game timer and can be used to help you get a good time on the level. Because of this, enemies are placed rather sparingly so that you aren't constantly being given chaos control. I believe it would be a good idea to take all this into account when it comes to enemy placement and the S rank requirements. Sorry for the wall of text lol. Hope you don't mind the suggestions. Though be aware I have no idea how much of what I suggested is possible for a mod. Can't wait to play this!
Great Work! Its been a while since I've played colors (on the wii, ignored ultimate) so this reminded me of how cool astroid coaster was. I especially like that doom morph section as a nod to the frenzy wisp. I hope more mods in general make use of morph in the future.
Honestly I was expecting something half-assed but this is actually pretty neat. Shadow griding instead of using the coaster and replacing the wisp sections with doom morph sections is great.
at the beginning where there's supposed to be a coaster, you should make it a chase. so you have to hold down the boost button on the rail or else you'll die if the coaster catches you.
maybe the green slime itself can be the doom-morph goop instead of using patches of purple goop. you could swim through the pool underneath and climb and swing up waterfalls
This is really impressive! If I could make one recommendation, it would be to have the camera angle be slightly behind Shadow for the 2D section, like a majority of the Act 2’s in base Generations. That would make it so you don’t have to zoom out so far, and maintain the visual cohesion with the other levels. I’d also look into using the green bile / sludge as a potential Doom Surf option, multiple paths and all. Either way looks rad, Grinding on the Coaster Rails goes hard as hell
If even possible you could have Shadow need to dodge the roller coasters instead of riding them (maybe more of an Act 2 gimmick than this one) also have a meteor shower that Shadow has to use Chaos Control for in order to reach higher ledges or cross gaps similarly to how its executed in Sunset Heights
0:36 you should place more obstacles like the A part where they swing or more tubes for example to where doesn’t just have hold forward and has to be more engaged Also you should keep the grinding on the tracks for shadow it fits his “I’m a cool guy doing cool guy things” vibe and finally your doing the visuals of asteroid coaster Justice, stage looks great!
Really would've preferred this and Camelot Castle over Sunset Heights and Chaos Island. I love Sunset Heights in this game but neither it nor Chaos Island should be here because Shadow Generations is literally just what Shadow was doing during Sonic Generations. I know Generations doesn't really have a pinpoint in the timeline but it still "takes place" between Colors and Lost World, so the events of Forces were still years off and the same goes for Chaos Island but the bigger thing is that Shadow wasn't even in Frontiers. Hell, I don't even know if he got one of those passing mentions in an optional dialog scene or text box that everyone is so personally offended by that they use it to justify calling Frontiers a 3/10 like Tangle or Maria did.
Really liked how the level opened up the further you get into it, reminiscent of the adventure games. I do have one thing to say for the beginning part though, there are barely any obstacles. 0:12 kinda wish in this part after the camera angle changed there would be a few obstacles like spikes to avoid and rail gaps to avoid falling off, giving the level some kind of quick reaction gameplay. 0:37 this part with the doom power. It barely gives any challenge like you just hold the stick forward. I know its still a work in progress but i just wanted to share my thoughts about it. Hope this gives you an idea!

Needs alternative paths for faster times and maybe a bit more engagement on the long rail sections. Right now the skeleton of the level is "fine", but it looks like it lacks meaningful gameplay decisions from all of the homing attack chains that are put in.
