Foam cutting bow best concept… A one man’s quest and longtime dream!

With quite a number of years (or admittedly decades!) experience building different concept bows just for my personal use the urge finally came to put all those collected ideas on practice… aim was to continue cutting my model sailplane components with newfound confidence and precision without worrying anymore about the bows cutting performance.
My workshop needs are for many different size bows so I initially built six different size/prototypes based on the same novel concept… goal was to create my new bows with must have features:
- Infinitely variable tensioning mechanism with wide range travel… target was to be really easy/practical to adjust and built to last for a very long time.
- Truly ergonomically located fingertip switch control… target was to start cutting the very instant I decided without even thinking about the switch location or correct on-off direction.
- A cutting wire that I really trusted… target was to be as stiff and strong as can be but also thin enough for minimum kerf and accurate results, also wide input current operating range.
-Heat sink… target was to absorb excess temperature increase at the critical cutting wire end points and avoid frequent breaks.
- All aluminum frame… target was to be of minimal cross section so very lightweight and easy to handle but also highly rigid, also carefully chosen size of vertical/top members for balanced manipulation during cutting.
A number of additional ideas were also put to use but the story gets too long…!
About one year of development went by… final results where highly satisfying to the extent I decided making some of my new bows and offer them to interested fellow modelers and other foam cutting users. Their testing and findings were also quite encouraging so I continued to produce a limited number in five popular sizes offering them through eBay at modest cost compared to their quite high material cost and intensive personal labor involved.
Every machining and assembly/testing operation is done solely by me, my dear wife helps a lot and as best she can with secondary tasks…

Will it be used for cutting woven fabrics?
Hello, the use of A-Just Precision Bows is for cutting EPS, XPS and EPP foam but not woven fabrics.

My A-Just Precision Bows using Titanium alloy cutting wire are designed to cut XPS,EPS and EPP foam boards.
It’s possible to cut foam mattress depending on its density. Haven’t tried it myself though.
