@@markunicotan649 Thats a pretty detailed report. Ok in my case it was a software issue which was FCPX to be the issue. I reinstalled with the upgrade and all went well till day. It’s actually very hard to pinpoint the issue, as what I’ve understood is that it could be something for some one and the other thing for another. It could be software or hardware. Usually it software and depends what’s the latest software you installed after thing was normal.
@@MominNz thanks for the reply, much appreciated. i am running el capitan since the last 6 years, and like i say this sleep wake failure has only happened 3 times in the last 12 months. just have to make sure i save everything at regular intervals to be extra safe - but alas sometimes you forget and simply assume that your work will be there when you return and wake up your imac...!

@@misty-eyed Well, definitely you need to save your data before doing the clean install. If the computer always restart by itself even you are doing nothing on it, I only have 2 ways on my mind: 1. Depending on the type of your iMac hard drive, you may need to take it out, by using the external HD case and make it as an external HD, accessible by USB. Connect to other computer and back up the data. 2. Using another mac and connect both your iMac with that mac with Firewire cable. While boot up by Command + Option + R, select the option of using the other mac operating system. Then backup the data from your iMac. I may need more information to be able to suggest more... what is the type of your current Hard Drive inside the iMac? Is it the old way 5400rpm rotating HD, Fusion Drive, or PCIe Flash Storage ones?
Im sure its a piece of software which is causing the issue, the best possible chance is to strip the OS and installing the necessary software and testing it which software is choking the memory. Usually this occurs when there is a memory outage.
I pressed command + r then it started loading and then everything dissapeared and my mac said "your computer has restarted bcs of a problem blahblahblah" and it happens e v e r y time...never happened before, what should I do?
What I’ve noticed in the recent days is that this issue is jelly caused by an anti-malware or antivirus software which you would be trying to run on your back always know I don’t know for some reason macOS is not compatible with these types of software in my case it was clean my Mac and that was causing the issue now it’s very hard to pinpoint the software which would cause this issue
I would suggest installing it do useful software apps which you require for your macOS and leaving out anything which is not important and it should work then without causing any issues

every day i leave my imac to sleep when i go out during the day - often with files i'm working on still open, ready to be completed when i return.
and when this 'sleep wake failure' has happened, i have lost all my work! it's very annoying. it's only happened 3 times in the last year - but it never happened once in the 5 years before that. something strange is going on. would be great to get to the bottom of this... any help would be much appreciated! :-)
I read it's a software issue and updating to big Sur solved issue for many.
will this delete all my programs and personal docs?
I'm asking myself the same question :(
Yes everything will be deleted you need a backup. Clean install is the way
@@MominNz oof...but do you think I can do it while it keeps shutting down frequently ? Because I've got a mid 2014 iMac and just recently downloaded the Big Sur Software for it and ever since, it has been acting weird and it kept shutting down and it's very very slow. The record of how long it took without shutting itself down was 1 hour and a half I think. So I'm wondering if I can still do it ? Because I've got too many valuables stuff that I can't lose and I'm very desperate and don't know what to do and I don't have a back up of all my documents and files
@@misty-eyed Well, definitely you need to save your data before doing the clean install. If the computer always restart by itself even you are doing nothing on it, I only have 2 ways on my mind:
I want to fix my MacBook Pro
In my case, the alert keeps coming up, but in fact, the computer never did or does restart, but I still get this alert. Any ideas?
it must be a software issue. just do a clean install and monitor will app is eating up the memory
Followed these steps while speaking to apple support. After a few hours later I ran into the same issues. Not sure what to do.
Im sure its a piece of software which is causing the issue, the best possible chance is to strip the OS and installing the necessary software and testing it which software is choking the memory. Usually this occurs when there is a memory outage.
I have also same problem while using FCPX or photoshop
If its FCPX, then you need to reinstall an updated version of the software
Mine powers when I’m rendering edits someone reply what’s the problem
I tried this but not helping
mine keeps saying that the erase process has failed
it doesn’t work what do i do
I pressed command + r then it started loading and then everything dissapeared and my mac said "your computer has restarted bcs of a problem blahblahblah" and it happens e v e r y time...never happened before, what should I do?
well, I don't understand why would it still happen after execution of CMD R. after the command it should go into recovery and so on.
It deleted everything even my start up disk got deleted, now I can’t use my mac 😭😭😭😭
I fucked up I shouldn’t have done this
@@elizarondina958 Didn't you first make a backup??
Is there a way to save you stuff
RedRangerKi98 you can back up initially
@@MominNz ok. This issue happen due to a accident.
@@MominNz I don't have wifi

Try again, it should work.
@@MominNz I have tried more than 10 times ...but it's stucking every time ..
Plz help
@@MominNz it worked ...God bless u man.... really thank you
I have one question ..to stop this type of problem in future what we need to do
What I’ve noticed in the recent days is that this issue is jelly caused by an anti-malware or antivirus software which you would be trying to run on your back always know I don’t know for some reason macOS is not compatible with these types of software in my case it was clean my Mac and that was causing the issue now it’s very hard to pinpoint the software which would cause this issue
I would suggest installing it do useful software apps which you require for your macOS and leaving out anything which is not important and it should work then without causing any issues
I tried this but then I got a grey circle with a line through it?
don't know what that is. however it does take some time usually after a restart
How is re-installing everything is a FIX!!!!!
There is no other way around this issue except for reinstalling the operating system and then reinstalling each one by one
In my case it was the final cut pro which was the main issue and was using a lot of memory therefore the Mac was crashing
@@MominNz You are wrong.... there is a way... Turn off your MBP... press Power for 10 seconds... Release... wait another 10 seconds +.... boot again. Clearly mentioned on Apple website.
What wrong with you man. Why are you vomiting anger?
That doesn’t work and that’s only for clearly the NVram.
whats command r?
COMMAND + R
I can’t press erase,it won’t work

@@MominNz i did all the steps and my mac still says rhe exact same thing
@@cursed636 no idea. for me it was the anti virus. so check what software is the issue
It says no users available for authorisation. As i click reinstall mac, does anyone know why it appears how to solve it?
Did u lose all your applications you downloade
Yes
if i do the tutorial, then will i loss all of my data ?
100 percent Yes. you need to back up your data first via time machine and restore it manually not via time machine. Thats the trick bit.
I failed every thing is deleted and can't even back up anything
Pls help
remove hdd and install new OS, insert hdd in an external caddy to get your data off.
@@MominNz you mean buy another hdd? Or just remove it from disk unity?
@@dyheil.aka14 correct buy a new hdd or ssd remove the old one and stick the new one in and install the OS on the new one. the old one can be used with a caddy
Your computer restarted because of a problem . Press a key or wat a few seconds to continue starting up . --my macbook pro 2017 have this problem and cannot open 😂
me too so lmk if you figure it put🥺
same, it works for a while and then it resets with the error "Your computer restarted because of a problem", and then the error happens over and over again, making my macbook pro 2017 useless.
Same. 😭
What a solution?
Thanks you
Your video Title is misleading....Please change to reflect the video's content...thanx
It’s just showing a question mark when I start my computer back up
? Is only shown when the computer operating system has been crashed in your case that’s what’s happened it’s a different issue you have a issue with the operating system so I’m assuming that you’ve lost a date already so need to reinstall macOS
What about data
all gone
Will i lose my data and installed software's ? if i follow this
If you don’t back it up yes 100 percent lost
Yes
What kind of data will be lost?
Depends. If you back up your data then it’s fine . As I’ve tried different methods and the cause the usually a memory is ver flow caused by, in my case was FCpX. You would have to identify the software. This is not a hardware issue.
Re-installing OS will never fix this issue...
Same problem what can I do?
Have the same problem when I'm using photoshop :/
delete update and it should be fine.
When I wipe it, the error still comes up?
try to wipe and don't do a reinstall of the apps from the back, try to do a fresh install. It's very hard to pinpoint the problem, as its usual software, mine was due to FCPX and I updated the version as it was consuming ram while render so was crashing the system.
Momin Nz When I do this it’s still on boot up menu and it brings up the error still. Anyway to fix this?
@@raggedyfanboy Do you mean the error is the same " that your mac has restarted because of an issue or something else"
try to do a clean wipe from disk utility.
Momin Nz The error is still the same when I factory wiped it
I have MacBook Air 2020 i have the same problem I don’t know what to do
Did not save my laptop. Made it worse, lost all my data. Wtf.
oh man. dont know what to say
What is wrong with Mac. What is wrong with Apple 🍏. Are they just selling the names for people to buy. Because it’s not making sense! Gosh 😢😢.
You did not even showed how to get to get to the re-install from macOS Recovery screen
No I’m not sure what you mean but of course if the video is for the recovery then it should be different ways to start the recovery but you can wash out the videos if you don’t like my video thank you
@@MominNz I got that screen but wasn't successful at fixing the issue.
I had to download everything back for nothing it didnt work 😭💔
yes, its a trial and error method as you need to isolate the app which is causing the mac to heat.
Momin Nz i didn’t download any apps yet.
@@z-_-.1231 If it still crashes, take to the apple store for a genius to have a look as why its over heating
