      @@coachb7373 I watched that one, too. My brother is a coach for 24 years and runs the Wedge, so he kept telling me that I should run it, too. I watched one of your videos on the wedge and your style of football is almost identical to my brothers. Great videos Coach!

    Coach B, this is Coach Manny. So, you have your pullers go INSIDE the AT man on 34 power and not outside? Same when under Gun?

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  Рік тому

      Yes as soon as the pullers get to play side they turn up field. Around the guard area usually.

  • @ajwhawkeye
    @ajwhawkeye Рік тому +1

    Great stuff, Coach! One question I have is when you run counter, and you have the BSG kick out the free runner and the FB wrap around and get the guard (opposite assignments from what they do on power), what motivates that switch (instead of FB still kicking out and BSG wrapping around to get the backer). Would be tempted to play that the same on both power and counter from a simplicity standpoint. Do you do that bc you just want the FB taking a step away to help sell the counter?

    • @ajwhawkeye
      @ajwhawkeye Рік тому +1

      Or is it that the QB is in the way of the FB for too long on counter, but the BSG can sneak underneath there quicker?

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  Рік тому +2

      Usually on counter my FB is offset on the opposite side of the counter. My guard takes NO counter step and pulls to KO the DE. the FB takes a slight counter step to sell power and then steps into the flow of pullers. So everyone gives each other space. Not a lot of space but enough so nobody crashing into each other. The order of flow towards the counter will be BSG-FB-BSTE-RUNNER. nice and orderly line. @ajhawkeye

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  Рік тому +1

      Also on any counter cutback or XX criss cross counter I have my QB handle the KO. Then the flow becomes QB-BSG-FB-BSTE. QB goes to kickout and the other three flow into the called hole. The QB tosses to the runner then immediately attacks the DE on playside

      Appreciate the response!

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  11 місяців тому

      @@ajwhawkeye of course Coach. It’s a great question. Making this offense run right requires as much space as you can gobble up going UPFIELD as the pullers pull into the lane. So to avoid crashing into each other I took a look at spacing and timing. And this setup flowed the best.

    Coached with Steve and we would never run Ray 34 Power as drawn up.

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  5 місяців тому

      How would you run it? I know he used Smash and Blast outside of his power play. But what else? 32/36 power?

    • @todd6787
      @todd6787 5 місяців тому +1

      BSE end cuts DT. Pull BSG and BST, scrapping (with eyes inside looking for leakage) behind wall formed inside by playside double double and PSWB looping around DE to seal LB at top of wall against 53. FB runs banana to kick DE while QB is spinning while pitching to lead second level kick out of CB. WB is taught to run through hole with his hand on pulling BST backside (drill it in practice with grabbing towel placed on BST backside).

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  5 місяців тому

      @@todd6787 and THAT was the issue. I was getting a ton of high low block penalties bc if the center blocks down and the BSE cuts the DT on occasion it would look like a chop block. I also found my tackles were much slower to pull than my TEs. So I went to GATE pulling 100% of the time. Worked so much better to be honest. No more penalties. All the other things u said is how I teach it. Banana for the FB KO. pullers eating up the space created by the playside of the line and getting upfield.

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  5 місяців тому

      @@todd6787 really the only thing I’m doing different is GATE pulling which Steve told me
      Himself he had a call for. Instead of Ray 34 Power. He’d call Ray 34 POWER GATE. which is how I run it 24-7.

    • @CoachCalande
      @CoachCalande 4 місяці тому +1

      Power GATE, PICK, PIZZA were all tags I used after 2012. Pizza was used to speed up my trap play, pick was used to have bs te pick chaser on backside (we were slow and they weren’t 😅)

  • @LombardiXL
    @LombardiXL 9 місяців тому +1

    Coach B, gate pull is guard and TE, what is it called when you pull guard and tackle? Why don't you pull g and t bug g and TE?

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  9 місяців тому

      Because if u pull G/T you have to cut the B-C gap with the TE. I was tired of getting called for high low blocks if the center blocks down. Also my TEs are much more athletic and mobile than my tackles. So the choice was easy.

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  9 місяців тому

      I now primarily GATE pull for mostly all my power counter and sweep plays. And I have my backside Tackles get good at fast inside reach
      Blocks to seal the b gap solid. I tell my TEs to pull with authority. Cause they are last man distance wise to the POA.

    What play calls are best going up against a 62?

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  Рік тому

      The 6-2 is a more challenging defense to face but depending on alignment I STILL like power vs the 6-2. Wedge also does well bc there is no nose tackle. If the fb breaks the single layer of defense he can easily be off to the races. Another favorite of mine is counter trap versus the 6-2. Trap allows some penetration and with only 2 lbs the LB is effectively blocked when ur O linemen avoids the trapped DT and goes straight to the backer

    what about blocking if running to 0 or 1?

    • @coachb7373
      @coachb7373  2 місяці тому +1

      @@joshschultz5743 the only time I ever run to 0 or 1 which is the centers right and left foot is when I wedge. DW Teams don’t need a dive play cuz wedge gives us that and way more. And running a play that much inside eliminates the ability for pullers to make a difference Steve Calade ran some 0/1 “GUT” plays and the GOOD GOD system even works with that. It ends up being a really tight KO block that frees up the runner. Some D lineman will be unblocked as O lineman go to second level off the snap.
