V8 Alpha is pixel while this is baselit. I will be reviewing the new V8 Nova as soon as they're able to send me one. Stay far away from the alpha. It's plagued with issues. They are working on redesigning it.
Doesn't look bad at all. Bass speaker is key. It looks a lot like a 'tactical flashlight' which isn't a bad thing. They're kinda meant to look cool and hopefully have decent ergos. Cool unique font there as well. I am all about the non-canon stuff. It is possible to get burnt out on just lightsabers, esp. if you're using them a lot like I do. If I had to ding it for something maybe I'd say a few more fonts might be nice but at least what's there seems to sound pretty good. 👍
Ordered mine, and the features dont work. Put it on lock mode and it wont come off unless your turn the whole thing off. The rotate handle feature stopped working within a week. :(

For a budget RBG lightsaber, it hits all the marks. It's a nice value and it had a lot of extras. I also see it's sold out right now, lol. Even the V8 (neo pixel) are a good value for the quality. I'm guessing though, that you can't alter the font banks with custom ones. Which is reasonable, for this price point.
There's only one RGB soundboard that I know of that allows custom soundfonts, the xRGB 3.0 by DamienSaber. 99% of RGB sabers out there cannot. Gotta remember that most people buying a budget saber aren't interested in tinkering with soundfonts. They just wanna turn it on and go. SABNEO got it right this time. We just won't bring up the disaster that was the Alpha 2.0 😆
@@thefrugaljedi TXQ seems to have them now as well. Starlight Sabers up in CA and then on the TXQSaber Official Store on Ali they have 'Super RGB' which is listed as having an sd card. But I don't see these on X-TREX which is weird. Interested in checking it out but not sure if there's much reason until I know progress has been made on the accent swings. 🤷
@thefrugaljedi will you be doing a Nova review? I'm curious with this. I got the V8 pixel original and I notice if you try to swing when turning it on, it cuts out the ignition 🙄

Try removing the battery and reinserting it to reset the saber. If that doesn't help, contact SABNEO for a replacement core.
How is the sound quality compared to the new V8 2.0 speaker?
It's using the same speaker as the new V8s.
Is this base lit?
Yes. V7s are baselit. V8s are pixel.

The MP3 compression artifacts on the 2.0 are horrible and a disturbing trend amongst a lot of new sabers
