      Pretty normal. OnePlus is kinda Apple on the Android side. That's what their strategy have been since the beginning. This culture is still strong in the company. Building up their resources over the years now they can get into the budget game again. Different than before...now covering a lot more users.

    I love how oneplus doesn't hide that their idea of 'innovation' hugely resembles that of Apple. They're using iPhones, MacBooks, and Apple watches, because they know that they want to be as reliable as Apple in the future. Like other tech hardware companies, they don't have a 'use only our devices' policy (like you see in other company 'documentaries', which is annoying to say the least), and they know that their ultimate goal is not to advertise their products on EVERY OPPORTUNITY THEY GET, not to FAKE reliability of their products by showing each and every employee using only company products, but to consider employee satisfaction as important as customer satisfaction.
    Not to forget to create products that ''just work, and work very well''. :)

    I've worked in the product development cycle myself and I'm a bit surprised to say the least if they were actually trying to design a phone in 6 months. It can look cool and dramatic on video but it's absolute hell for the lower-level employees that struggle to meet the vision of the managers and higher-ups. Oneplus isn't a small company anymore so I'd be interested to know why they would constrain themselves like this. Considering that it would probably take almost no effort on their part to market their products anymore I'm guessing they could spend a relaxed amount of time creating the phone. I find it hard to believe they'd have the budgetary constraints they had in 2013.

    • @jevonsims900

    • @insolidusyt
      @insolidusyt 4 роки тому +2

      Could be. Or it could be that in Oneplus's marketing narrative Carl plays the more passion-driven founder while Pete is the more of the businessman. So it makes sense for Carl to be featured more prominently in a promotion like this.

      Do you think the 5 to 10 minute youtube video only takes 5 to 10 minutes to make? Usually they will use the phone for a week or two. Make notes, test specific features of the phone. Compare the specific features. Make a script for the video. Record multiple takes. Edit. Post and market, or engage their audience after the video etc.
      I don't understand why you need to take a shot at the UA-camr's to praise OnePlus.

    • @g00gleminus96
      @g00gleminus96 4 роки тому +3

      @@julianramos9368 Yes, they need a mid-range affordable companion to the OnePlus 8, which is more high-end. Frankly, they should have launched an entire line all at once; a superflagship (8pro) phone, a flagship (8) phone and a mid-range (8Z) phone. That would give people choice and take firmer control of their market position.
      Also, they (and the whole industry) need to drop curved-edge displays. Curved edges just make the screen easier to break. It adds zero value or functionality to the phone while distorting the image at the edge. Fucking useless gimmick.

    With how they've changed from a flagship killer producing company, to a "premium" smartphone brand, "Never Settle" seems like a slogan they actually meant more for themselves than the core consumers. Now they're back for the real consumers with a Settle for Average product. Nuff hating. The way they evolved from a small company to what they are now is without a doubt a great feat and not to mention, damn impressive.

    Interesting strategy to use this video. Generally rushing new tech is not a good thing. It makes me wonder what is the rush? Is this about the best interest of the consumer and the fans or the company? Is this because the 8 was "over priced" and now the company is scrambling? I look forward to learning more and I applaud the company for this innovation in marketing.

    A OnePlus phone under $500 with midrange chip-set trying to compete with the likes of IPhone SE, Pixel 3a and 4a, Galaxy S10 lite and S10e- a hard pill to swallow. The only plausible way to make it a success is by giving it OP8 level spec.
