THE NEW CANADIAN WATER AGENCY

  • The Canadian government recently announced the creation of a new Canadian Water Agency, which will be responsible for managing the country's water resources and ensuring their sustainability. While this move has been lauded for its potential to better protect and manage Canada's water, it has also raised concerns about the potential for new tax schemes to fund the agency's operations.
The establishment of the Canadian Water Agency comes at a critical time, as the impacts of climate change and increasing demand for water pose significant challenges to the country's water security. By centralizing water management and regulatory oversight, the agency aims to streamline decision-making processes and improve coordination among various levels of government and stakeholders.
However, the creation of a new federal agency also raises questions about how it will be funded. Some experts and stakeholders have voiced concerns about the potential for new taxes or fees to be introduced to support the agency's operations. These concerns stem from the fact that managing and protecting water resources requires significant financial resources, and the government may look to taxpayers to foot the bill.
It is important for Canadians to stay informed about the potential implications of the new Canadian Water Agency, particularly regarding how it will be funded. Understanding the potential for new tax schemes or fees will be crucial in shaping public discourse and ensuring that the agency's operations are transparent and equitable.
Ultimately, the establishment of the Canadian Water Agency presents both opportunities and challenges. While it has the potential to significantly improve water management and sustainability in Canada, it also brings to light important questions about how it will be funded and its potential impact on taxpayers. As the agency takes shape, it will be important for Canadians to stay engaged and informed about its developments and potential implications for their finances.

If this rolling out of regulatory powers involving water use plays out as it has in the US, then such a body will insinuate themselves into a position of unilaterally deciding what priorities for water use matter and which do not. Thus creating winners and losers.
In the US right now, unaccountable bureaucratic water regulators have told large numbers of independent family farms in some jurisdictions that they are simply banned from accessing aquifers - in the middle of the season when their crops are already in the ground no less! Meanwhile some of the very biggest farming enterprises are protected from such criteria.
This has the very obvious outcome of destroying the independent farmers crops, and is a direct attack on their ability to be farmers at all any longer. Why was this necessary? According to the regulators, they have long term conservation plans for certain defined regions that supersede the land use rights of 5th and 6th generation family farms.
So, when I hear all this vague talk about responsibilities and mandates but it requires some 120 employees to manage , the bullshit detector starts really going off. They are not showing their hand yet. Just watch and see. Nothing good is going to come of this vague entity that uses buzzwords and talks of cooperative ventures with who even knows.

Two, to create yet another bureaucratic agency to launder the revenues received.

Many concern huge zoning changes including watersheds and "climate change" related initiatives. Already in Vancouver this has affected private well owners and farming negatively.
