Thoroughly look forward to Thursdays every week. I’ve been playing for 2 decades. I’ve lost all motivation and inspiration to play during the last 8 years. Watching you create is absolutely amazing. I dig your style big time. Right up my alley. Just want to say I’m a huge fan. Keep these amazing videos coming!
Your videos are seriously such a great content base for any musician kinda stuck on where to go with a production. Also every riff you write SLAMS. Thank you!
Easily one of the most fun and dope riffs you've ever written. So energetic and cool. I like the more post-hardcore-ish sound direction you're going into.
Been watching for 2-3 years now and every riff is a banger. & as a fellow Bengals Fanatic, There's 2 things I look forward too every week. A Thick Riff & a Bengals Game. Sick Stuff Dude🐅🐅🐅
Imagine a fresh HLB album tho… Buster already released a promo single for neural DSP (Consume, Exhume. It absolutely rips.) so we know he is at least actively writing songs.
You should check out Mirar’s new album called Ascension. High quality production stuff. They’re madmen that released it on January 1st. No hints, no teases, just BLAM! Album.
Beartooth is said to release another album and I feel like this one is going to be a real heavy again despite what most are thinking with them having more and more of a pop sound to them progressively . aha!
Nick, I just wanted to say that my production and overall songwriting has significantly improved after watching your videos throughout the year. Learning new tricks and ways to be efficient has greatly helped me out flesh out my own ideas. You're an amazing musician and you are a blessing in the metal songwriting community frfr. Edit: to answer your album question, Mirar just shadow dropped one right on the 1st. 2025 might be it.
Wretched has a new album out on Metal Blade this year! Their first one in many years and will be active again. I am excited. Check them out if you haven't.
Do you have a video that shows how to setup a keyboard to do the drum midi? I feel like this could help me expedite writing. Rather than trying to painstakingly click a drum map
Yeah I highly recommend using a midi keyboard to help program drums. I don’t have a video on that but it’s pretty straightforward! Typically all you need to do to get started is plug your keyboard in via USB and your DAW should detect it automatically. Just make sure the sample libraries you’re trying to play are set to receive midi on the same channel your midi controller is on. Usually by default everything is set to midi channel 1.
To prevent getting mad at the poor old computer and to spare CPU, why not use the amp sims in stereo on a bus both rhythms are sent to? Unless you're processing each side differently of course but this is some mad Napoleon vibes, sounds super sick dude! Waiting on the resurrection of some Creeping Death material on one of these THIC days(was that what that project was called? been so long that I can't remember it clearly lol)
Problem with that is you’re then limited to only 2 guitar tracks per bus when I often have at least 4. Omg wait are you talking about creeping dawn??? I haven’t heard that name in years 😂😂
@@nickbroomhallmusic yeah true, but easy adjustments made for multiple tracks at once. Not sure how it is in Logic but I'll just stack buses on buses for this method all under one main guitar bus. Dudeeee yes, that was my first introduction to your stuff. Honestly don't really remember what it sounded like at this point but I remember it was slick as hell haha.
Literally every time
Nick: This might be cool
*does the thing
*sounds fucking awesome
We need another Thick Riff Thallsday
Maybe trying out those Odeholm drums I been hearing about? 🤔
@@nickbroomhallmusic Mirar dropped an album so there’s en easy excuse for inspiration lol
@@nickbroomhallmusic missed your chance for Deck The Thalls... just sayin. lol
@@Bigthoogs😂 nice one

I really enjoy when you do riffs like this. Melodic, fast, chordy, and harmonized are a great combination.
Bruh you need "SHOULD I HARMANIZE IT?" shirts! I'll be taking my 10% cut LMAO
Andy will sound HUUUGE on this✨️
I can already imagine it 🤔💭
I tell you this all the time. But don't stop doing these. I look forward to Thursday every week.
Had me excited for this before the 1 minute mark!
I love how your scratch guitar takes are 10x better than most real takes from bands out there lol. You make me wanna quit music sometimes 😅
That distorted chainsaw synth sounded insane.
That is mind blowing
(also that previous section was INSANE-super excited for new/more Dearest)
Every time it blows my mind 🤯. That’s beyond what I thought would be possible.
Getting OG Novelists from that riff! Nice work!
Been watching for 2-3 years now and every riff is a banger. & as a fellow Bengals Fanatic, There's 2 things I look forward too every week. A Thick Riff & a Bengals Game. Sick Stuff Dude🐅🐅🐅
Thanks dude!! Bro same, what are we gonna look forward to when the seasons over 😢
How do I say i'm stoked for a new Dearest album without sounding like a fanboy? Also stoked for Spiritbox and Loathe.
This has to be one of my favorites you've made man, banger.
Thanks dude!
Your talent makes me feel so inspired and sick and motivated and disheartened and happy and jealous
Happy new year, looking forward to your videos in 2025🎉
That absolutely ripped 🔥
You are such an inspiration man, pure soul too I can tell, bless ya man! Rock on Nick \m/
Thanks so much man! 🤘
8:05 there should def be a part of the song, maybe a bridge or something where this is more prominent in the mix, it sounds so good
Invent Animate , Silent Planet, Thornhill, and Thrown are on my radar for 2025.
Great riffs Nick. Thank you for the education 🔥🙏🏻
Ohhhh silent planet 🫨
It's so fun to watch your videos! This is the 'Threat Signal' t-shirt guy btw ;)
I think this is one of my favourite TRT tracks, just sounds so big with a great groove!
the new "All That Remains" album has my fullest Attention!
Ohhh yeah the first single they put out was sick!
its like I NEEDED THIS EPISODE
Even though the light was blinding (lol), I like that angle to see you punch in drum parts on the midi keyboard. Love the vids, keep up the good work!
This is amazing sounds so "I built the sky"
You're such an inspiration dude!
Thanks so much man 🙏🥲
Uploaded just in time for me to enjoy before I go to work today. Thanks Nick!

Praying for your Bengals this weekend.
Thanks James me too 🫣
Cautiously optimistic for the new All That Remains album coming at the end of the month.
Have you listened to Cane Hill’s album this past year? Goes hard and can totally inspire some thick riffs!
Also - still gotta finish Djent Hedwig!
I gotts start watching these videos when i am actually free. Now i wanna play guitar and i cant xD
Waiting for the day we get a writing a Dance Gavin Dance riff.
i like this very very, you made it thick nice
Beartooth is said to release another album and I feel like this one is going to be a real heavy again despite what most are thinking with them having more and more of a pop sound to them progressively . aha!
I was 100% sure the harmonized guitars wouldn't work. BOY was I wrong!
Amazing riff as usual. I give it a 2025/10.
As for albums of 2025...the new Architects album drops on Feb 28. That's what I'm chomping at the bit for.
This reminds me of the old 90210 theme song
You know, you also haven't played your Osiris in a while. It's been since the middle of season 2! Pleeeeease play it again soon, it deserves the love.
when you’re harmonizing at 9:30 are you playing the same part in a higher octave or playing different notes that fit with the original part
Not exaggerating, you could have the best metalcore album of 2025 if you converted like the last 10 episodes into an album. CRAZY work.
Dude cqn you make full live streams available please
I don’t livestream yet but when I do I’ll definitely make the VODs available!

2:27 very accurate 😂😂
Totally hear cross poision on this track.
Ive been waiting for something with a novelists vibe in drop d for so long……..
Jinjer is coming in February too and so far it’s fucking fire!!
So good man! What string gauge are you using for this?
What synth are you using for the distorted layer at 6:45 ? And any special kind of proccessing? Sick stuff!
I think I talk about those synth layers a little more in depth in my argent metal video!
@@nickbroomhallmusic oh cool, imma check that
I FORGOT IT WAS THURSDAY
FIRST THICC RIFF THURSDAY OF THE YEAR
FIRST COMMENT OF THE YEAR LETS GO

Bro, new 2025 music? ABR Thrill Seeker rerecord with Jake and Dustin is set to release on January 24th! I am beyond excited!
Can you try a bmth inspired riff? like a riif made around a synth
The Thick Riff Sessions, Vol. 2 when?

@ thanks man! I got a deal on an Alesis v24 for 40 bucks at guitar center. Fired up right away! Just have to get good at finger drumming now!
oh my he wrote in 4/4 for once 😱
I think at least 95% of my riffs are in 4/4 😂
9:09 lmfao
What drum plug In is that? Sounds amazing!

Check out Sharptone's 2K25 teaser for the new releases on their roster, it got me so hyped
Great new video series idea: Thick riff everyday. Once a week is not enough lol
I'll do it once I figure out an infinite time glitch
Heyo! When did Nick say he was gonna try to have the cd out by?
I thought he was gonna say he was excited for his own cd for 2025 lol
1:59 Flashbang
Sithu Aye vibes
Dare to use organic, ethically sourced bass!
What if the synth portions were played by... the bass?
Where is your information for the members only videos?
Protest for nick to do a TesseracT inspired trt
Not sure if I'm overlooking it in the video, but how are you getting this guitar tone?
Archetype Nolly into GGD Contenders!
Normal tuning?
very gaurded around drum libraries. whatya using there bud?....🤔
It's in the description! RS Drums Monarch!
Where did you get that chair?
bengals have a chance! its very small but its there! (im not a bengals fan but I saw the hat)
Unfortunately I have hope
@nickbroomhallmusic I love your riffs dude you have inspired my own music so much
What tuning is this in?
