Inside Wuerzburg American High School

WAHS was closed in 2008. The annex built in 1990 is used by the biology department of Würzburg University. Most of the other rooms are empty, some are used as storage rooms. The gymnasium is being demolished because it is feared that the roof might collapse under a heavy load of snow. Filmed in January, 2014 by Roland Flade

1962-63 part of freshman and sophomore years at WAHS. The years have dimmed my memory of some of the video. Some of it was very familiar..... not sure why. Good times, but a lot of time on buses back and forth from Wertheim where we lived at the kaserne on top of the hill.
Still can't believe the 3d Infantry Division is now at Ft. Stewart, GA. instead of Wuerzburg. At my father's funeral near Tampa, he had an Honor Guard come all that way. It was fitting considering he was part of their artillery support for almost 3 years.
Going to school overseas was an educational experience you can't purchase.

This brought tears to my eyes..... There was so much life in this building, I hate seeing it like this.
