    Hi there, thank you for your video, I make lotions but i dont know how to do formulas yet, when i first learn was through a doctor from Spain but her lotion has too much oil for my taste and i don't know how to lower the oil and increase the water, I had make from other youtubers but my fault i don't save the recipes, I made yours and i really like it, i replace few items, like BTMS 50 for 25, cetyl alcohol for cetearyl alcohol and I used optiphen instead of germaplus, and it came out really nice, not oily, not to liquid just right. thank you again, i will save a screen shot of your ingredients list.

    Hi, I'm another formulator, checking out Tara's channel. So far, so good!
    I saw a lot of comments asking if you can use BTMS-25 instead of BTMS-50. You really can't, here's why.
    BTMS-50 is half (50%) BTMS, half thickeners.
    BTMS-25 is 25% BTMS, 75% thickeners.
    If you substituted an equal amount of 25 instead of 50, you'd have half the emulsifier and might not be able to create a lotion at all, depending on the amount of oils/butters. Or you would end up with a thinner lotion ... it's hard to predict what would happen.
    You also end up with a lot more thickeners if you use 25. This might make the lotion too thick, or might just mess it up. Again, it's hard to predict.
    Formulators do a lot of experiments like this ... and end up throwing out *a lot* of failures. If you want to experiment, that's great, but if you just want to make one batch and have it turn out perfect ... don't substitute anything.

      hi, i just made her formula with btms 25 and it came out perfect.

    • @HildaCorners
      @HildaCorners Місяць тому

      @@privilegiada1 Sometimes it does work out perfect! I'm glad it did in your case.
      That does not mean you can substitute BTMS-25 for -50 in other things and have it work ... definitely try it, but accept that you might get a product fail.

    @carladasilva5548 Рік тому

    Hi Tara! I just found your channel and find it very informative :) Being a formulator myself, my advice would be to use as little as 2-5g of citric acid and equal part of water to adjust the pH, instead of using 50/50g. You only use few drops and throw the rest away which is a big waste, unless you store the solution and use it in other diys. Keep up the great work and have a prosperious New Year :)

    • @TaraLeee
      @TaraLeee  Рік тому +5

      welcome to the channel. hope you are enjoying it! 😊 happy new year 🎈
      but i don’t waste the rest. i store this solution and usually use it up within a month. i talk about my pH adjusting method in more detail in my video all about pH - ua-cam.com/video/OfoZ6B40NSQ/v-deo.html

    I’m new to formulating lotions and body wash. Thankful I stumbled upon your channel and have been binge watching your channel… Your channel has provided me great insight on proper ingredients and the benefits of them. I signed up for your Pateron page and have been studying ever since lol… I just made my first test batch of this lotion Friday night and failed (mainly because I was jamming out to music and forgot to add em wax 🤦🏽‍♀️… tried to fix it but welp failed lol) then I made my second test batch yesterday (I used regular em wax instead of BTMS 50), then I used Stearic acid (since I had that already on hand because I use it in my candles), I also used mango butter because I wanted a soft luxury feel to it (idk if it’s considered luxury but it sounds fancy), then I used jojoba oil since it has vitamin e in it (had it on hand for body oils) and then I used Geogard 221. It came out perfectly! It didn’t streak or anything… it was the perfect texture and very silky smooth and soft! Definitely hydrating! Perfect summer lotion. I also used mica powder which I know but it worked fine! I didn’t have to combine it with anything it blended perfectly… I think it was because it was still warm idk but it worked lol I’ll be making a video for it soon and I’ll be sure to give you all the credit! Much love 💕

    Hi Tara! First of all Happy New Year’s! 🎉
    If I don’t have BTMS-50 and only have BTMS-25, can I use it as a replacement/substitution for this formula? If so, how should I go about it’s usage? Double it to get the emulsion that BTMS-50 will give?
    I hope my question makes sense, I’m a total newbie with formulations 😅
