Women do it too. Don't think it's a man only thing. Women of all races prefer whites because they find them more attractive. Just look at ok-cupid dating appa data that backs me up.

Coz men’s eyes are different to women’s.. you'd rarely see a good looking man with an ugly woman but you'll often find beautiful women with ugly men. Women go for money and personality and are hypergamous by nature whereas men don't really care about that stuff as much

Exactly! It’s even his skin tone that makes him more attractive. Even the sister, unfortunately Asians standard of beauty is different. In India they use Eastern European models for their saris/ Asian fashion! 🥴

So sad this still exists within communities who should be united and not divided just because of 'skin tone'. Beautifully said Samia, that the Lord made us the way we are. Love yourself as you are and be strong and confident against people who have this mindset. Its the heart❤ and what's inside that really matters.....

The host- massive respect for you & your team for covering another important taboo issue in the south Asian community 🙌🏼
This platform needs to be praised & appreciated for bringing these huge topics that no one is talking about to the forefront.
To Samia: you are insanely beautiful, and I am sorry you weren’t appreciated for your kindness , qualities and intellect (and I’m sure much more!)
Keep fighting the good fight everyone 🩷

I am baffled watching this episode. The majority of people in Whitechapel have a similar or darker skin tone than the sister in the yellow jacket. She is not darker than the average Bangladeshi. The people who were bullying her were 🤡🤡.

You would be surprised that my friends who are slightly ‘lighter’ in skin tone than myself also get classed as ‘dark’ the society likes to compare to “whose the fairest of them all” Alhamdulillah that it’s much better now but there is a significant amount of people who still sing this tune

Thank you to the SM team for such a warm welcome into the Silent Majority Family! Really appreciate it!
Gotta say, this episode was hard hitting and what was once and for a long time treated as a taboo topic has been touched on and touched on well I feel. We all have our anecdotal experiences in facing and/or experiencing colourism within the South Asian community. Really brave of Sister Samiya to open up and give us an insight into what she has faced and good luck to all that you guys endeavour to do to tackle such a disgusting issue within our community!
Love the content, love the channel & love all that is up and coming from the SM Team & we are proud & excited to continue to support this.

I was called Chinese and a yellow frog, lifeless etc etc. but I believe this bullying by family was more gender based being a girl. Being a girl is much worse than being dark skinned. Please cover gender based abuse - it’s much more relevant

That is outrageous, come to east London, I will show you tens of thousands that are olive skinned. To be fair there’s a mixture of tones. But, for a darker south Asian girl in the Indian sub-continent, unfortunately, there is undue and unjust criticism, it’s wrong and potentially oppression. Hence the episode 🙏
However, there is an argument that those south Asian women that may be perceived a little darker (Shemla) but are very good looking, don’t face any criticism.
      Thanks,

That is unislamic to judge a person of their skin.

I think this is a difficult topic to navigate because at the end of the day any man or woman has the choice to accept or reject a person for marriage based on their looks, and this includes skin tone. At the same time a person shouldn't be shamed because of their skin tone and treatedly badly for no reason other than this.
