I really don’t understand why everyone wants to be white. I’m a black American and I love my color. I feel dark complexion is beautiful. Those India women are gorgeous. God create everyone equal. So be proud of your skin.

I know american education sucks and many americans dont know anything about other cultures, but you really have no idea why this is a thing??? Its not even because of colonialism, but because light skin, in so many nations, was/is a status symbol. It indicated wealth. People with darker skin had to work outside or derived from people who had to work outside and were associated with peasantry. Light skin indicated a lineage of people who were high enough in status to work inside. The caste system is ancient.

Same here. I'm a white European and wouldn't want to be black or tan either. If I had dark skin, my dresses would look much different and not as pretty on me. There are some things black people cannot or shouldn't wear and there are things that lighter skinned peopel shouldn't wear. I think yellow often doesn't suit lighter skin, while it looks beautiful on darker skin (because of contrast maybe?). Vice versa, darker colors don't match darker skin that well, it looks better on lighter skin because again contrast. But that's just me, I like playing with nuances, contrasts and shades.

Regarding Deepika Padukone she did not in fact bleach her skin (she is the same since she was a baby) but filters have been applied to her skin in movies. In the making of of Bajirao Mastani Mohe rang do laal song she has her natural color but in the final song/movie she is so white. When we see her in Gehraiyaan or Pathaan her skin is not like that her skintone is actually the same as Priyanka.

In Mexico we also have problems with colorism, but in our case it is purely because of colonialism. Since the indigenous groups of the country did not have any preference in skin tone, in fact no pre-Hispanic beauty standard survived, the Aztecs and Mayans saw aquiline noses as beautiful, but today it is quite the opposite. A notable difference from colorism in Latin America is that dark skin is not considered ugly like in Asia, you can be simultaneously dark and very beautiful, although if you have light skin it gives you extra points. Being white is more linked to social status than anything.

The information on Japan is incorrect. Rice-farming culture have strong preference for light-skin for thousands of years, as it reflects social caste. If you want to see Japanese make-up from 1,000 years ago, just like at any KABUKI or MAIKO make-up. The traditional word in Japanese for make-up is OSHIROI (白粉), which literally means WHITE POWDER.

Western men love their blondes and everything that goes with it. Scandinavia undoubtedly has some of the world's best looking women. But since europeans have a wide range of colouring from pink and white to olive, with different coloured hair and eyes - very diverse - the preference ranges.
When western men say they like dark, they don't mean indian or black, they mean their brunettes. So that would mean preferring sofia Loren over Marilyn Monroe. Not preferring Deepika padukone or lupita nyongo.

The Aryans (who wrote up the Veda’s and began the Varna system) described themselves as light skinned, as opposed to the dark skinned people who lived in India before them. Varna and colorism aren’t 100% related, but they’re not 100% different either.

@@prikkeldraad7112Vedic Aryan even called danava vritra descendants of Krishna yoni , black womb but it's metaphorically used for danu (river goddess danu )

Vala is another son mentioned in rigveda as son of danu ( which was veles , slavic god veles )

There are several parts of the video where you’re stumbling/stuttering over your words or under-enunciating them and the narration sounds a bit unpolished like it was done in an unrehearsed take and several words are also mispronounced which takes away from the flow and the message you’re trying to convey. Something to watch for in the future. Best wishes!

The idea that Jati/Varna has to do with with race or skin color comes from a colonial administrator named Herbert Hope Risley. He was a huge believer in scientific racism and he is the guy who imposed the modern caste system onto Hindus. Most Brahmins I've seen in my life are actually dark skinned. Also in ancient times everyone would have had a lot of exposure to the sun regardless of social class.

Risley's information came from the scientific process. With observation and from what he was told by the Indians of the time. If you're saying there were no castes prior to the british, all hindu literature says otherwise.
