- use ur cosa2 clutch! #fmpDIYclutch just make it stronger: 1) ring 2) +8 rivets/welding points 3) cnc honda linings 4) use original or fa italia sprocket & plates, proper quality over decades
for 90% of the tunings this clutch PERFECTLY does the job! technical seen sufficient for most of the tunings!
It is NOT needed to but a cnc tuning clutch, filled with replica parts. It will not work any better for these setups, and no one will see inside, just use a sticker of a fancy vespa tuning brand: red, yellow, blue, black...
PRO:
cheap, often on hand, good plates and proven sprocket quality & a cheap inner groundplate 40.- (vs 80.- for the cnc wave toothing one)
CONS: smaller classic toothing which is fine no woreiws (wave shows quite some abrasion), not black, but u can paint all the parts black of course ;))
honda linings, use proper brand, ie EBC
note: tabs need to be made smaller a) diy with a grinding stone b) cnc machined
cash comparison: 290 / 195 / 125 / 65.-
typical cnc clutch 290.- with these potentials:
plates, linings, sprocket, too hard springs
= 15 + 40
1) no cosa on hand:
new ferodo clutch (93045000)
150,- + 45 honda (93081700)
= 195.-
2) cosa on hand:
80.- sip sport basket (93402000) + 45 honda
= 125.-
3) welding possibilities:
20.- ring (93206000) 0.- 4welding points + 45.-
= 65.-
((inner part hardened, u need a TOP driller))
plus 5.- for circlip
x.- for springs
springs:
do NOT use hard springs, they kill ur clutch bearing, • vespa bearing KILLER #...
always use the weakest possible springs
-20hp = 12 original springs
20-22hp = 14 original springs
22-25hp = 16 orginal springs
oil:
Jaso ma2 motorbike oil
10w40-50, mineral or semisyntetic
NO #1:
the origi al cosa2 clutch is not a tuning clutch, just a different type. 4 linings and 8 springs instead of 3 and 7. from pnp tuning on it needs to be strengthened
NO #2:
a CNC clutch with original thin linings from the 50ies is NOT a tuning clutch. this should not be sold anymore, but it sadly still is...
cool looking cnc basket can not solve the very old tab problem: • vespa FAIL = THIN clut...
which is not normal, dont let anybody fool you, but caused by not appropiate hardware, auch "tuning" clutch is a technically fail design. Someone did obviously not think things trough.
also for engines with only few km proper hardware, in this example motorbile state of the art linings, are allowed, thats only fair :)

Molto utile ed informativo, grazie
as always, very useful information..thank you for sharing
Next video: balancing the clutch? Sorry, just kidding - thank you so much for your videos, very informative and most of all independent view!
👍 Wait for it, static balancing or at least checking it 2come, cant do it now, dont have the needed spine yet. Also wanna check flywheels. The thorn that fits for the hubs is to thick
Thank you! Just one question, why you don’t weld the smal pin directly ? I don t understand why we need to drill and weld…
the rivets u mean. caus e it wouldnt improve the connection. the idea is to make ADDITIONAL connections, as the rivets are quite weak. welding them directly... the still are weak then. but welded, so no improvement.
thank you for the video, grazie per il video
Why is a strengthened circlip important?
safety :) u use harder springs, so u also should use a stronger circlip
How about Malossi clutch spring for more horse power ?
I use sip L, malossi are ususally too hard = damaging the clutch bearing
how thick is the metal ring around the basket (2mm or more???)
rather 1.5mm but i need to measure if i dont forget
How the cnc sip clutch with the cut outs. I see sip rates it at 25hp. For my p177x
Not needed for your px177
can i buy polini clutch plates fit cosa 2 clutch ,, bgm honda plates lasted under 100miles
no polini for largeframe clutch available. use honda plates.
👍
When get buy them?
you need to make it by your self, that why its called DIY - do it yourself :)
what about the px150 clutch?
px old 6 spring ? Cnc basket or basket with Ring / cosa? Same same
@@FreakMoPed8 yes px old 6 spring
Teninch offers a cnx basket or u use a ring for the standrd basket
No honda linings possi le tough due to small diameter
Which order do you put the plain plates in?
