I’d put myself between thocky and poppy,
but I think there’s more versatility then just these 3! Like completely raw switches and stabs (no lube on either of them) on Alu plate with all the foam!

switches are on of the least important aspect of a keybopard it comes down to what kind of case, plat. how hollow your keyboard is, if it son a desk mat or not and switches come last
switches dosent make a difference if you want a thoccy keyboard it depends on what you do to it mod it do tape mod back of the pcb makes it sound awesome
You should ask what are those thocky "keyboard", not switches. Board that make low pitch sound, will be more thocky no matter what switch.
I dont know what these people are saying... The switch is pretty important to the sound profile. I can certainty see a difference on my zoom when I switch a gat ink black out for an aqua king or a jade.

I might be basic but it's the thocky for me. I type around 20-30 thousand words a month (aside of spare typing in browsing, writing emails, chatting, etc). I appreciate to not have to endure hours of the unbearable sound of regular keyboards
What would you recommend in terms of switches and keys for typing? I'm not going to be gaming and I like that smooth thocky sound for typing. (Though poppy and thocky both sound pleasant to me)

I learned to type on IBM and other buckling spring\leaf flap terminal boards.
Anything under 70g in linear's feels like I'm going to damage the PCB on bottom out.
I built a QK75 with meteor purples spring swapped for 65g sprit extreme 5's. I've been amazed at how many of the popular tactile's I simply can't use, become awesome with a spring I don't have to consciously keep my fingers off to keep from actuating.

It's just so rare to see a tactile switch gang member in any keyboard content 🙏
What are your favorite tactile's and is SA the profile I'm looking for to replicate the old kb feel I grew up with? Everyone's linear gang and I've tried from $.20-$1+ linear's and none impressed me.
@@dalebob9364 I'm currently running Harimau and Emogogo tactiles in my boards. The Harimaus are no longer available new, but the Emos are. They're long pole stems with a big bump and a 22mm 62g progressive spring. They feel much heavier than the 62g would lead you to believe. Super clean sounding and lovely, strong tactile event.
SA is great for retro feel, but Drop's MT3 profile is right up there, too, especially if you get one of the PBT sets like Extended 2048 or dev/tty (I have both). My nostalgia loves SA, but for everyday typing MT3 is great. I'm currently running SA Carbon Bones on my work board and MT3 2048 my home board.

I'm using aula f75 with reaper switch. It's 100% thocky. I have a nuphy halo75 gateron red switch which I preferred the look but that more of a poppy sound, which I think Aula F75 sounded better.

i like the more marbly, poppy sounds. the ones with a lot of personality. thock is always welcome, but its the keyboards with a lot of sass that really stand out these days. like yes please, make my keyboard sound like bubblewrap.
