HOW TO: Repair Rudder Bearings on a Sailboat, SAVING YOU MONEY! | Sailing Sunday | Ep.165

This week our friends were about to purchase new rudder bearings for HUNDREDS of dollars and lift out for a week to do a rudder bearing replacement as their steering became stiff! As I have done this before, I helped advise them to hang in the slings and just repair their rudder bearings saving them tonnes money! So this week I take you through a very detailed guide on how to replace, or repair, your rudder bearing in a Beneteau Oceanis sailboat!
This rudder bearing system would be the same for all spade rudders, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Bavaria, Hanse etc with some minor differences. But first, lets go check out an abandoned resort that was hit by Hurricane Irma 5yrs ago here in St Martin before we lift out for 1 day, to do the rudder bearing replacement 🤙

We just take them and hope for the best we find a home. So far its always worked out, but i know theres going to be a time when we will be stuck with another dog or cat haha!!!

Thanks! I hope it's helpful, I was thinking of doing a short, slightly more detailed version of just the rudder for anyone who has the same issue. Apparently its a common issue on the Oceanis 40.

That was cool, Jackson gets his paws on the bar to place his order…..that’s my boy, taught him everything he knows (lol) My poor baby ambushed by street dogs, Brittany would not have liked what I would do with a stick. Sorry you don’t even attempt to harm my babies without paying for it in one form or another. Thank you for keeping the other adopte away from Jackson to protect your baby.
Haha, yes we almost needed a stick! Its a crazy walk down to the vet, we had to do it 4 times!!! lol

Thanks! The Avocados are huge!!! LOL. Jacksons been like that since 8 weeks old. We took him to dog trainers, "behavioral" specialists when he was younger to try help him, but when he sees another dog, cat, lizard etc, he just goes nuts like "come play, play with me, cmon lets go, go go go go go go go!!!" haha... Hes just goes from 0 - 100 so quick, which is why he usually gets attacked...
