Before the war, "West-Tek" (military tech corporation who made the power armour), invented the "Forced Evolutionary Virus" (FEV).
It let them create true mutants of almost any creature, such as "Molerats", "Super Mutants" and the feared "Deathclaws" that were to be used against China in the war.
FEV's backstory is pretty interesting and related to how the Brotherhood of Steel came about, after a USA army company mutinied after finding the horrific experiments days before the war began ;)
Lucy represents what’s best in Humanity. If people would stop rationalizing bad actions, like stealing a fusion core-and endangering hundreds of good innocent people in the process-the world would be a better place.
Nothing Maximus could say would convince me that keeping it is a good thing but, sadly, I might be in the minority. And then people wonder why human society never gets any better!
The last episode is great...a lot on questions are answered ....you guys should give one of the video games a go, you have to make a lot of moral decisions that can change the game and the ending.
NO the fusion cores are not the cold fusion Moldaver is talking about, fusion cores need to be recharged and run out of power if they are not. (in game you cannot use powered armor for anywhere near th time Max used his)
Also fusion cores existed pre war that is what powered cars and most households.
Remember what Lucy said about her dad if they had destroyed an entire vault he would be disappointed, keep in mind for episode 8.
IMO Betty killed the prisoners, they were no longer needed as a crisis for the election.

Thaddeus misses because in the game shooting without using VATS is very poor.
Steph is overseer and also from vault 31.
The inter vault doors are kept sealed for security purposes and only opened every three years as per episode one. Your speculations are interesting, answers forthcoming in next episode.
