In fairnes Stingley was playing many bizarre off coverages in Lovies scheme his fist year. He also battled injuries...DeMeco has him playing in a similar fashion but noticably more agressive. You could see the talent then though. Last year proved he is who we thought he was.
Caserio love’s versatility, I like Stingley over sauce because of that reason, also the USC kid Caserio drafted this year, even though he played Safety, I can see him playing Corner because of his height and arm length
yeah the usc kid isn't quick footed enough to be that close to the line covering, he has straight line speed and height, he will be free safety for mid to deep balls
I feel like no one has really gotten it right. If you really watched Sting in the 22 season, you could see the talent shine BUT he was very clearly not used to NFL zone schemes to start the year. I could see him getting much better and understanding his role as the year progressed. Say what you want but Lovie is a good teacher and a lot of the guys that were here from 22 didn't just grow under Ryans but also Lovie (Sting, King, Cashman, etc.) This past year, Sting is a lot more comfortable, in a much better environment and a more complimentary scheme to his skills.
As a Houston fan, I can confidently say majority of Texans fan are happy with Sting over Sauce. No doubt Sauce is a great coverage CB but Sting brings more and is a much better versatile corner than Sauce. I think Sting also brings a type of physicality at the CB position that's lacking in Sauce
Stingley couldn't stay on the field in '22. He was injured before he was drafted and he was injured after he was drafted. BUT, he had bad coaching and was on a bad team with no oomph for his first two years for sure . It also takes some guys longer to learn how to take care of themselves as far as strength and conditioning go. Nico Collins, WR, was hurt every season before '23/'24 as well. He wasn't considered very good either. Kenyon Green, left guard, missed all of last year and was off the field more than on the year before. The jury is still out on him, but he looks like an o-lineman now instead of like a marshmallow man so I'm hoping this is his breakout year.
D-Sting has excellent football and position knowledge, not to mention a very physical presence. If the rest of the DB's would look back for the ball during a pass, there would be less TD's. Dad and early coaches taught him well! ULou
I don’t like what you’re saying. Who’s to say that sauce is gonna be heads and shoulders above stingley. I think stingley overtakes him this year. Stingley ball skills can’t be taught.
Sauce has been an instant all pro while allowing the lowest pass attempt percentage and allowing the least separation among all corners. Stingley had a great year, but obviously right now sauce looks like a future HOF and stingley looks like a future all pro. Love stingley and hope he gets even better.
@@raffettoman the dude gets away with so much holding. Watch his tape and see all the jersey grabbing. Dude couldn't keep up with Hill so all he did was grab. Never seen a corner grab so much in the last 10 years and get away with it.
last season yes, the season before that sauce was better and that wasn't by much even in a lovie smiths defense. So with recent playing stingley for sure. Lockdown and ballhawk He needs to stay healthy so he just stays warm to the game and he could be a top corner in the game.

Exactly on Smith. And while Gardner is good, I do think he’s a bit overrated and benefits from NYC market and a flashy nickname.

He’s not fast or strong enough to be a boundary corner, he’s better built as a center high free Safety

Just fyi, that first INT on Wilson in the flat was tipped by 51
The other cool thing is that they linked up on the sideline before that play and got hyped up for it. Was on Will Andersons miced up vid.
If he doesn’t tip it, Stingley takes it to the house.

Now if only Pitre can get the memo..
Stingley is extremely explosive. There are only a handful of players who are faster than him.

Thanks
Heres one I was looking for. If Stroud, Anderson and Dell can make sopohomore jumps the team will be crazy.

he over took him last year already with less games. Stingley only concern is being injured.

Lets be honest the reason for the jump is because we dont force him to play the flat in a Tampa 2 ever play.
Jack Jones with the Raiders next lol... please and thank you
Honestly he wasn’t bad the first year
Was he worth picking over sauce tho?
I think this upcoming season will determine that
Both teams are playing their best football. So whoever steps up the most will be the final factor
Yes
He’s better than sauce statically when he’s on the feild. If he stays healthy he’s for sure the better pick
