I love a nice big triangle, sword hands, and straight black and white markings. I can't afford a vintage Omega, but I might be able to swing this one. I love a vintage diver. No ember sale, here I come!
That’s insane all the improvement they made. And it was a terrific watch to begin with. I was actually waiting for them to restock the ones with the date at the 6. But I couldn’t wait and got an Islander Flieger Type B because Marc is selling those for a ridiculous price right now. I may have to get this one also anyway. Off to talk to the wife. Wish me luck…🤞🏼
I do really like it. I don't really wear as many dive watches as many/most watch folks seem to though I've taken a liking to vintage looking divers over the last couple years. I really like the San Martin 62MAS homage in the funky blue. It's probably the dive watch I've worn the most this year. I was thinking about picking up a Seestern 62MAS in gray but might get one of these instead. I can rationalize it by 'needing' a vintage diver homage with blue lume. Good video as always.
Oh, I meant to say I like most of the changes. I prefer screws but pins aren't a deal-breaker. I do like the new bezel insert and prefer the case back for sure but the biggest improvements for me are the crystal, the clear AR coating and esp the case design. I'm not sure I love that recessed area between the main case and the bezel but I definitely prefer this overall case to the V1.
It's a lot to take in. The Seestern is still very close to my heart and is still the watch to be beaten outright but this is a great watch to change it out for a bit. I reviewed the blue SM 62mas too and it was very good.
A good one for sure I'm going with the Seestern 62mas though for my next one (just personal preference really) I'd like a future video about watch straps & where's best to buy etc (especially for my skinny 6.25 inch wrist...alot of straps are for Arnie's wrist 😆)
I've ended up picking this watch up...I prefer it to the Seestern 62mas!! I went with the big triangle (as not the biggest fan of the logo...maybe the new trident logo will be on a potential V3 🤔) Such a great watch, great inky glossy black dial. Probably my new favourite!! Mine has a very very slight misalignment on the bezel but even still, it's a no brainer buy!
Great looking watch, John! I think I like the version with the big triangle and no logo the best. I'm still hoping they do a version of the electric blue Seamaster. It's my grail watch!
I’ve ordered it but have also ordered the Hroudland after not doing my research as far as historical accuracy goes.. 41mm is correct. That’s why the sweep tip is clipped if you compare and the insert font is also further away from the vintage, which if you care makes a difference..
More hits than misses for the updates👍... this is a very strong contender in the very competitive $100-ish dive watch market. It would probably beat out the comparable addiesdive or steeldive models in my collection, and could likely displace the invicta pro-diver also. The fact that it stands well compared to the Seestern 62mas really says something but in the end the Seestern can rest easy with it's place in my collection secure. The watch dives looked good in the CoD. and I like the improved accessibility to the bezel. Nice one 👍
Hi John. All round it's a winner and it's worth a place in any collection. It may have replaced the Seesterns for now but that watch really does still set a strong standard...I miss it...oh bugger 😉!
@@johnswatchjoint definitely like the aesthetics and ticks all the performance boxes definitely a good recommendation...might hold off on my monthly Casio purchase for a while to go for this instead👍
Great review 👍. That looks a huge improvement, the crystal change transforms the watch. I'm finding it hard to criticise anything, I suppose the ghost date would annoy some, but they can buy the date version. The case back is a good improvement too.
Any thoughts or knowledge of the newly revised WatchDives logo? I would buy this if it had the updated logo. Love the overall watch design. Nice channel 👍🏻
Yep. I have seen it and commented on it recently on my community section . They have released a bunch of watches with the Trident - Like logo .

WD has clearly knocked a hole in Helson's bucket with this one--it's much better looking than the V1, and the mineral bezel insert is a decent alternative to Helson's sapphire at WD's price...The only thing that keeps from buying it is loyalty to my old, beat up NTH Odin which can't take any Big Triangle competition.
Shoudn't have after purchasing the Seestern 62mas a few weeks ago but couldn't help myself, figured with my luck it'd sell out and be discontinued like the sn004g milsub which I missed out on a few years back and am still regretting so scooped this bad boy up. Hope I like it as much as the 62mas which is running @0s after a week, can't get much better than that. Cheers!!! :)
Very good improvements, especially getting rid of that horrid blue AR, thanks for the update. Does that make this watch the cheapest with an decent OTF clasp? I will have to wait for Nov sales as already have some WD sapphire mecaquartz explorers coming.
I have a Ticino Seamaster and it had a glass bezel insert. It broke and I didnt abuse it. Glass inserts will brake. They need to be made of acrylic and replaceable.
I have the Ticino Depthmaster also. My bezel has not broken yet, knock on wood! I also have the WD v1 Sharkmaster. It is a well made piece but seems tall and fat compared to the Ticino.
It’s a much more historically accurate homage and the correct size and so the Hrudland becomes the keeper.. The WD is really well made otherwise but that quality would have been better spent on historical details & sizing..
I really didn’t like how the tip on the WD sweep hand was cut off to fit the smaller dial as well. I just wished the Hrudland sweep had if been painted white.. I may try and source a white one..
It is my honest opinion. There is no comparison when it comes to the overall finish of the watch. The bracelet is better by a long way with tolerances and that OTF clasp too 😊
I'll be in the minority here and it's something I can't put my finger on, and I don't want to offend anyone who has it (especially you John!) or anyone who likes it - but it just looks a bit cheap to me. Lacks class. If you look at what it's homaging, the simple things like different colour indices and the marker at 12 looks far too big, Maybe in the flesh this would look better. Do like the crystal however, lovely distortion on the dial from it. Great review as always!
Any constructive input is always welcome buddy. It's a big leap from the V1 but you have to like this style of watch...which I obviously do. I grew up watching Jacques Cousteau and even remember the watch that Richard Dreyfuss wore in Jaws...these things leave a lasting impression...at least on me hahahaha!
Nice short update for this watch John. Keep up the good work.👍🏻
Thanks! 👍
Great update, John. I have the V1 and really like it. This one is even better.
Hi buddy. I also liked the V1 but this gets so much more right. A real beauty! 😉

Intro shots and BG are top notch
Thanks....a bit shakier than normal as my tremor was playing up. Frozen shoulders will do that to you 🫤
I love the sword hands and it reminds me of the Ginault. Not just another Sub look alike either!
A good one for sure

I like it alot. Watchdives is really showing their mettle. The 6 o'clock date model would look perfect without the 3 and 9 on the face imo.
Very solid daily watch for the price. A bit thick but overall balanced. Very good quality bracelet, lume and dial. Im happy with mine
It's certainly a lot slimmer than the V1 and 13mm for this style of watch isn't bad. It's a balanced watch on the wrist ☺️

Iv got this great watch
Good man! 😊
Pity that very pretty blue version isn't available. I missed out on it with V1 and seemingly it's been dropped for V2.
Unfortunately it was not a good seller.
Are the lugs edges sharp om the inside so they rips Nato straps?
??? I've never encountered any watch that has done that! Certainly not on this watch.
@@johnswatchjointthanks, I have had the issue on some watches that are wery sharp on the inside of the lugs so they would rip the Natostraps I used.
the 12 position is off. they cant seem to get that correct on alot of their watches. i had to send back 3 for qc issues and was disapointed

Omega

i dun like the bezel teeth being so high and empty below it until the watch case itself, from the side view, it just looks unfinished and lazy
