What I appreciated about your tips is h the at most can be applied, even if you get the announcement script or items last minute. Simply use some of the basic “public speaking do’s and dont’s, and knock it out of the park. Great vids you’ve produced, and all focused on the right element-Jesus! Thanks for the efforts. God richly bless. Phileo love and a virtual Brotherly hug, Gene M.

The anointing also makes a difference. The anointing is the most important ingredient.

The boys are talking about talking on stage.
WHAT has anointing got to do with talking on stage.???

WHAT!!!! No Jazz hands :) Hand placement/ usage is an important item. I'll have to go back and "name" a few of my favorites also.

If they don't have fun names...I mean...they're just that much LESS effective.

You mentioned providing your actual planning center notes given to you. Can’t seem to find this, only a link to plsnningcenters website. Am I missing something?

Some great tips here! I'd love to to add another: try to avoid unusual and inauthentic cadences and rhythms. Many speakers - including really experienced ones - speak in a sort of "public speaking voice", which comes across as fake and is actually more difficult to listen to than someone speaking closer to a normal conversational mode.
Preachers are the WORST for this. There seems to be a sort of "preacher voice" which so many put on when speaking for a congregation, with weird cadences and ellipses. I find it completely turns people off.
Related to eye contact, it's important not to just scan the room, but to try to make eye contact with individual people. You want to land your points with individual people in the audience, not just sort of move your eyes over them. This helps make genuine connections with people and make them feel like you are talking to them personally.

This is a great additional point, James. I find myself struggling with this - especially because I've honed so much of my skills on the teleprompter.
Here's a super-extra pro tip...I'll actually add "screw ups" and "you knows" purposefully while hosting live, because if I don't, I'll come off to robotic because I'm such a perfectionist.

Curious since you mentioned planning center. Can you do an episode going through best church management platforms?. We currently have fellowship 1 but have had issues with it. I have been hearing great things about PCO. thanks!

I'm convinced Judah Smith has some sort of lapel we can't see and they give him an unplugged mic.

Question: Who normally scripts your announcements?

  • @mofekeng
    @mofekeng 6 років тому

Thank you God for my chin dimple!
But when are the announcements best made? Beginning or end of service? Because I try to align announcements to the message I am biased toward the end. Call for 'next steps'? Thank you

Street Pastor I like it between the worship and the message as a transition.

Clearly, at this point you don't have to practice too much... but as you were learning, how did you practice?
    In front of the mirror?
In front of you significant other for feedback?
    While driving?

I found the most helpful approach to record myself on video and then re-watch that video.

Yes! Takes a lot of humility to do, but it's invaluable.
