Looks like you've been studying your reggae brother! My name is Lance the original drummer for Big Mountain. I like your style brother keep it going I'm 57 years old. You sound like the new generation that appreciates the old! Keep it moving in a positive direction.
Yea - I'll go with that, Lance..... I was the lead guitarist for Inner Circle back in the late 70s with Jacob Miller. This guy obviously has a passion for the groove ;)
well i was the drummer for some bands that didn't get anywhere... but i do make a good dub track... ua-cam.com/video/jqx6ZZM58nM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/I3LSP2M29iA/v-deo.html
Hello to you all! Thank you for the support and constructive comments. I never thought this could help or interest anybody! Can I ask what kind of video you would like to see next? ( I'll try not to take 4 years) Please leave a much appreciated comment! Peace
Pacer Studio love your energy while you play man!! Great video, sorry I don’t have a suggestion at the moment, just wanted to give you props 🤙 bless up
Um, Dude, YOU ROCK! you are smooth and have a great ear, thanks for sharing this video, I am transforming covers to reggae for this singer that I'm working with and you opened my world to my own equipment. Excellent snippet of insight.
Random UA-cam suggestion brought me here but well worth the visit. Very educational deconstruction/reconstruction of a very familiar type of Reggae. Native Instruments have sponsored terrible Maschine demos but in you they would have struck gold. Mad skillz, respect!
Dude, me and my cat just spent half hour searching for more videos of you. Please don't stop! Best UA-cam I've seen! Have you got a patreon or something?
Very well done, UB40 used to finish some tracks with a single drum strike that sounded like hitting a trash can, it cropped up now and then during the track as well, for me it was such a great innovation.
OMG! :D You have just opened up my world, with your intro to Reggae rhythm. It's this sound that is bringing out the words I need to say. Thank you for making this video Sir. I'm off to write some loving protest songs.
Love this. Brings back memories of my youth!!! I would love to be able to create all this like you but I will have a go on my piano to get some kind of reggae sound some time. Thank you for your video.
dude! finally easy and straightforward reggae guide with essentials (happy to find it while was watching things around maschine, which I am digging now, after unfairly ignored for years :)
Hi all!! I greet you with the most inviting and sincere hello to each one of you. What can I say but WOW thank you so much for the constructive comments and feedback. I am just amazed. I haven't been active on this channel since 2015 and I haven't taken the time to answer all of you- (no good excuse there on my part but time and partial laziness to finding the password to the channel -.- ) and now I am tempted to make another tutorial for you to benefit from my passion of roots reggae music. Now, I know this one is quick, simple and to some, non-informative/shallow. I would like your suggestions for a next longer video in which I would like to dive deeper into the details of how to get THAT reggae sound, with more concrete examples, a final upload and a complete mixed recording as reference. I would try to make it maybe 8-12 minutes long and explain the philosophie behind choices of common instrumentation, mixing (eq, compression, effects etc.) and the discipline of simplicity behind every good reggae tracks. I believe that it would greatly beneficial for you passionate people to learn and see how I get a fat stompy reggae sound, eand not cheap midi looped patterns (which this videos kinda was) with a simple home setup. What do you think? Overall, I would make it sound better and would take the form of a lesson. Give me your feedback :) Good vibes to all around the globe!
Maschine is the hardware... or does it come with a software DAW? I thought it was all inbuilt ... interested to know this set up too.. this looks cool. Might have to trade my push in after all!
JEN JEN maschine hardware and software come together and it is a DAW of sorts. I have it and it's amazing! I've used cubase reason and FL in the past but I would never go back to using them. If you can afore to buy maschine then do. You'll never regret it 😆
I was a bit unsure what I was about to see, or more importantly, hear. That is one catchy groove. Some nice and to the point information and you have hit the nail on the head by breaking down the fundamental layers. Thanks.
And this is why the authenticity of reggae can’t be copied all the musicians that come together have their own feel and that’s why each time a group of members come together the fine details makes the difference they never keep the ongoing 4 Barr’s there are intriguing lil patterns of and riffs that they feel to get that movement to sound different with the patterns so this just sound like another visiting music you hear. On the travel docus
