    close to two years later I am watching this video. You may have moved on to other pursuits but I am assuming that by now you may have heard of the TR1 tire that is supposed to be "no mods needed" for for this baby.

      Yea I didn't know at the time. Its also possible to find a knobby that fits with no mods. As for the K262 not only does it not fit but its slightly bigger (actual top speed = 35'ish rather than 31'ish). Thus it has less current/torque margin at high speed. So I do watch to stay under 20A which basically keeps me under 25mph (or less into headwinds). Oh and it was very hard to get it mounted straight.

    I ended up cutting out the left side of the fender and using it to support the main wire over the tire. See my post on EUC forum here: forum.electricunicycle.org/topic/17867-king-song-s18-discussion/page/121/?tab=comments#comment-330290

    It was known that a knobby tire would not fit in there. They switched to a smaller tire on the production models because the original was rubbing. Have fun destroying your brand new S18!

    If you are really thinking about cutting the fender, I have an idea. Cut it vertically, about 1/2" at least, away from the screw holes, separating the attachment portion of the assembly from the main fender. Cut out a rectangular piece w/ screw holes from the bottom all the way to the top and move the fender up and reattach. Idea is to keep the attachment points as is and just move the rest of the fender up 1/2" or so by cutting it. This could work if you can somehow securely attach the separated pieces back together. Cover unmatched portion which will create a hole and you're good to go! Theoretically....in my head. :) lol. I really want you to succeed so I can do the same when I get mine. Please share any other ideas if you come up w/ a solution. Thanks for sharing.

      The inner-fender is removed and I've put 7 miles on it since then with the K262 tire. I won't be bothering with the fender unless someone sells a printed version specifically for the K262 tire mod.

      @@reitze01 well, I might just have to go same route. I'm probably going to end up hacking it though. I don't leave this kind of thing alone. If it's just going to collect dust, I'm hacking it. ;) Glad to hear it's working out for you though. As for me, I would have to go through some serious offroad trailing to really test it. Can't wait!

      @@reitze01 thanks for the update! Glad to see you actually made it work! I like the fact that you kept most of the fender. This definitely looks better than going "naked". ;)

      @@1floatwheel It dis sorta "Naked". I only used the a cut portion of left-side of the inner-fender to guide the main wire. The tire treads are completely naked.

    This shell looks thinner and more fragile than Christmas baubles.

    Is there room for the fender to move upwards without hitting the shock or the upper part of the frame assembly? (I'm talking about your comment at 0:33)

    • @reitze01

      IDK. The tire fits by itself. And today I cut out the left side of the inner fender and installed that for the sake of the main cable guide that's part of it. But the treads of the tire are not covered by it. That works! If I were ever to add the other side and extend the top to have 1 fender assembly again I would needs epoxy and to cut the screw joint that is directly under the shock. That screw joint contacted the shock before I did any mods. So it also means there's only about 1/4" in there to work with... and that's just not worth my time. After all, when it rains I just get wet anyway. ;)

    Have you had any issues with the motor cable yet?

    • @reitze01
      @reitze01  3 роки тому +1

      I have 300 miles no-issue AFTER I put the left side of the inner fender back on. Its only a wire-guide part-way but is enough that it works good. It also has the cover for the cable connection (minus the over-done factory silicone).

      @@addictedtowatts8756 If you go with a full knobby 14x2.50" you can probably keep the inner fender. I have the K262 14x2.75" on mine (with only the left hand side of the inner fender).
