Trimmed the stream down ill try doing this more often, the stream is a cool live experience for some (ive been told lol) but I think watching it after its live is harder because you can't interact so I wanted to make sure I make it more watchable by cutting out a lot of dead parts where there is nothing really happening (switching scenes etc)
Thank you KG
It was perfect trimmed down, thanks. You're right about it being better quality, a bit shorter for people once it's no longer live 👌
Whoever that Cypher guy is, he must clearly work for Sony because he was sweating the whole live stream that the QN900D was holding it's own.
This is the video i have been waiting for!
I saw the video. Good work!
I would appreciate if you could do a review, comparing these two TV's. Pros and cons. Your thoughts about who should buy which one and so on. I'm leaning towards qn900d even though it has more blooming than the B9. It is the other things that qn900d has that is more compelling to me.
Im a sony/LG guy but the Samsung took this one pretty clearly.
the samsung really does the bright light much better than the SB9 especially with the shirt of the girl towards the end 34:39 mark. dark was good but then blurred the light areas on the SB9. Samsung was better. but the exposure really difficult to say, so gotta go with what;s being said from in person perspective. Thanks again for all the work.
The QN900D was exhibiting the same backlight issue I saw when I almost got the QN900C...Im so glad I went with a Sony Z9K 😅.
I do believe that number of dimming zones dont really matter if you dont have good algorithm to go with it.
But now with the Bravia 9 new backlight system its even a big step forward for Sony 🤯
TVs are so good today its surpass what the human eye can see, which settings you use makes the highest impact, what meters show and what the TV shows is two different stories and then what our syses can perceive. OLED's still rule.
Hi kg . thanks for replying .actually we watching on tv cant always judge right and as you said in stream the person behind the camera knows better. So you saw it correctly .My use case is sports and I had great experience with qn900abc but DSE so returned . and after few upgrades especially qn900c was awsome. Also I watch movies in 4k and sports in minimum 1080p. have seen install shield tv and everything is fine especially its processing.Bravia 9 in my country india will come in october during festivals. Hope to see more of your reviews especially the AI of qn900d what does it actually if it really does anything. Be it sony or samsung everything it seems is more hype than reality. thanks
Thank you, yes I’ll have a QN900D review going more in depth on these things. In regards to SDR brightness the 900D won’t be as bright as the Bravia 9
think you can quickly forget about the Sony B9...not bad but not breathtaking either.
And of course too expensive for what is offered...as always with Sony🤷
Wow the Bravia 9 is really impressive looking better and very obviously better than even a Samsung 8k is insane. I can only fathom buying the Bravia 7 as I want the 85 inch but I think it will still be worth the upgrade from my 85 X90L
Bravia 7 will be solid I have been informed it uses the same local dimming algorithm as the Bravia 9, but obviously it won't be as good because of the new backlight system that is in place.
@@TechWithKG thanks, I'm more interested if the 7 is a huge jump from my 85 x90L as I'm not going to spend that 5k on a TV until compression on streaming gets much much better! But correcting motion blur/smearing /judder and upscaling is so important with streaming services. Sony is trustworthy to handle clarity and color already, but my x90L still has some smearing and motion blur in dark scenes. I think Sony's mini led helps that quite a bit no??
@@claykeough7898 It might be better it should be at least a bit better but to be honest you will still probably see some of that with Mini LED TVs
@@TechWithKG I really appreciate the feedback. I'm mostly happy with my x90L so I'll prob just wait another year or two thanks to your knowledge. 🍻
If you set them to default values and choose a picture mode, then keep it like that and don't tinker with the local dimming settings. Just because Samsungs default is high doesn't mean that Sony's high setting is the same/equal. Keep it medium for the Sony as intended.
Only did that for the chat requesting I try other local dimming options to see how they act, I would normally just leave it alone but the people wanted to see it
Awesome video. My last 2 Samsung tv's died within 2 years so I jumped ship to Sony. The Hisense U8N has good reviews too but read their qc is not the best. I have the Bravia 7 and it's a great TV but for an overly bright room you will want to look at the 9 or last years. x95l. I watched Ghost Busters in Dolby Vision and it blew me away. When you give this tv a great feed it shines and will blow your socks off. I just wish every broadcaster would jump to 4k. 12k content is off the charts. The remote is terrible and the Google interface takes getting use to. Upscaling is very good on the Sony, the stand is nice because you can configure how the set sits many different ways. The sound system is ok, but we have a 5 channel setup so if we are watching a movie it's wonderful. Overall, I'm very happy with the 7 and appreciate reviews like this. That said some of the images looked better on one tv that the other. I did think the Sony handled shadow detail better, and the colors were more vibrant without looking like a cartoon. Thank you
B9 all day everyday. I’ll even take it over the A95L and G4. Blacks are 90-95% of what you get with OLED but with better shadow detail and better HDR impact.
Wrong. Just wrong.
@@Minty1982AM What, my facts are wrong? 🤣😂🤡
Native contrast of bravia is around 5000:1and 250,000:1 with local dimming on and ambient contrast of Oled is atleast 1,000,000:1, so the black level of any oled is atleast 4xbetter than the best mini led tv
@@Bklynblaze1 no, your opinions are wrong. Facts cannot be disputed, but you did not state any facts.
@@Minty1982AM 100% facts my man.
Hey KG! Would you rather choose an 85inch Sony Bravia 9 (€5000) or an 83 inch Sony A80L OLED (€4000)?
I would always choose the B9 😊 but when you can watch it yourself, especially the difference in the brightness between these two TVs is insane! and you have to see the contrast ratio of the B9 yourself then you know how good this TV is and how close it comes to Oled. the best of both worlds
Ps : don’t forget the Sony Cashback for the B9. You can save a lot of money 🎉
@@MBFly25 thanks man, appreciate it! The Bravia 9 is not available yet in the store in the Netherlands, would indeed like to see the picture quality and the difference in contrast between this mini led and an oled. If the difference is not that big, I will probably go for the bravia 9 until Sony decides to create an 83 inch QD-OLED in the future.
@@ItsEmreos the rollout for the B9 Starts in June. They should be in store when the EM starts. But ask your local tech shop. I’m pretty sure that they know exactly when the B9 will be delivered.
Hi kg. Hope you fine. I had qn 900 series all in 85 inches .Have seen 8k tvs shine in 85inches only as most people say that too. What do you feel as an expert. Also when you full review it do put it in standard or dynamic mode. Even its movie mode is great . samsung have seen filmaker mode is the worst.? As I have bright tv watching area so lcd tv suits my use case. Thanks and hope to see many reviews of different tvs from you.
Thanks again Shawn, I definitely will show the other modes in the full review. 8K at 85 inches is really good I seen a few myself actually running 8k content it was really great.
Looks like I’ll be staying with my a90j
Hi kg hope you doing fine. Thanks for the stream.dont want to be JUDGMENTAL but after seeing the bravia 9, has sony maybe overhyped something which only samsung or other are masters of BRIGHTNESS. What do you say? Because what I could see is qn900d was brighter in most parts. And 8k gets better with upgrades. Even processor wise samsung is closing the gap or maybe is equal. As you said both had dse. I owned qn900ABC had to return because of DSE. So nothing has changed. Hope to see sports comparison of both tvs. Thanks a lot KG
Hi Shawn, to be honest I didn’t see this, I thought it was clear that Bravia 9 was the brightest TV in the comparison by a good margin. Overall unless you need 8K I think that the Bravia 9 did a lot of things better for a lesser price tag. However if you’re going to utilize 8k or 4k 240hz gaming you can’t get that of course with Bravia 9. Hope this helps. Thanks for your support.
Way to expensive for led technology
Yet people keep buying very flawed OLED tech ?
KG you are the best!!.
I really liked Sony Bravia 9 deeper blacks and brighter the best miniLED by far and can replace any OLED
Bravia 7 can beat any miniLED in the world and Bravia 9 is OLED rival
KG keep Bravia 9 in medium local dimming blooming is fine, in dark scenes in high you kill the highlights which is wrong, OLED was better by far.
I wished you kept the livestream yesterday I was watching it and suddenly removed 😂.
Sorry lol that was kind of like a "you had to be there" stream it was a late night stream just exploring the Bravia 9 for the first time this one was much more on point doing another later today which will also be on point! I gotta say Bravia 9 is living up to the hype for me personally really liking this TV.
Great comparison way way closer than I thought, you Brian and fomo again the only you tubers who have been honest about the bravia 9 , the best mini ever but Qd oled and MLA oled have some advantages also .How often is it hitting than 4000 nits ?
Thank you. It doesn’t hit 4000 nits and Sony never claimed it would, they said 50% brighter than X95L which is 1500-1800 nits.
They actually did claim 4000 nits but not full screen. Only on a 10-15% window aka specular highlights not overall screen brightness. That’s why they have been saying that it’s brightness with purpose. 4000 nits full screen would be a bloom fest
Nah they didn't, you won't find a clip of them saying that or an article of them saying that all they said was this and the 4000 nit mastering monitor have similar backlight technology. Anything else you heard was maybe from someone who got that message mixed up.
@@TechWithKG Yes. They said watch tech from kg video when he first so the bravia 9 , he said it was some scenes the oled was better , Brian also and fomo also , both saying it doesn't beat oled in everything like infinite contrast even kg says the contrast isn't as good as oled you can see some blooming so it doesn't beat oled in everything.
@@TechWithKG50% brighter is actually 2600 as x95L did hit 1600-1700. B9 hits up to 2900.
Thanks for this. Would like to see a Bravia 7 vs 9 next! I wonder if the 7 has the same back-light control of the 9, so is the only difference the no. of zones and max brightness?
Those that saw the stream live thanks, I just wanna get in front of this what happened in the UA-cam demo segment after Turtles in SDR that was not a color bug on the Bravia 9 it was an accident I was totally unaware of until after the stream, I trimmed it out of the stream but what happened was a setting got tripped in game mode by scrolling down to fast and that carried over into other modes, my fault!
Do you think it's fair to rate, The 65 inch, the same as the 85. When you say the blooming and the contrast is nowhere near as good to oled? Because most people want 75 or 85, When comparing to a oled for size.
@@valley3 Its fair to evaluate the Bravia 9 as a 65 inch yes, will the 85 inch be better no doubt, close to OLED people have to stop thinking about it that way its just never gonna happen It is the technology, OLED TVs don't bloom of course so no ones comparing that, but it will never hit the same contrast of an OLED there will always be a noticeable difference millions of self emissive pixels that turn themselves on and off instantly with no delay you won't match that contrast with Mini LED ever I don't care how refined and good the backlight system is its just not realistic to expect that from Mini LED.
@TechWithKG Now, what advantage would you say? The bravia 9 has over oled Or is the oled, just more superior for color and brightness In any room scenario. Sun-drenched or not.
@TechWithKG And does 4000 knit not matter? Even if a reference monitor says it does for directors intent. Isn't that what they are chasing?
@@valley3 Depends on the OLED. Lets just say S95D, A95L, or G4 for example I would say SDR brightness Mini LED has that usually thats likely the case here with the Bravia 9. HDR would likely be much closer outside of high average picture level scenes thats where I could see Bravia 9 separate. Larger HDR highlights could be in favor of Bravia 9. For color I would say G4 is similar to a top Mini LED like Bravia 9, but QD OLED like S95D and A95L colors would be better than Bravia 9. Hope this helps.
Thanks, awesome comparison! I'm searching a replacement for my old LG OLED (65'') which has quite serious burn issues. I already bought the Samsung OLED s95b (65'') which is amazing but I need another TV to other room. I'm really thinking about mini LEDS.
Meant to thank you for this one KJ. Excellent content 🙏💪
Wow, thank you your support is greatly appreciated! This was a fun comparison to do glad you enjoyed it!
@@TechWithKG yes, so helpful KG 👌
I was sorry you forgot to demo Sea of Thieves as a DSE, HDR10 and general brightness test during the game segment as that game is really good for testing those things. Some other time perhaps. Thank you KG 👍
We can say that Sony and Panasonic TV image processors are the best
Great video KG!!
This TV was announced right as I was buying my new house and setting up my game/theater room. I didn't want to wait for reviews so I just bought the A95L and I think I made the right decision.
You deff made the right decision. Being a game/theater room I’m sure it’s in a light controlled room? A95L is still king unless you’re in a super bright room
Depends on what you want
If money was no concern and I was mostly pc gaming on the tv, I would choose the 900D. If I am mainly going to be using the tv for non gaming content, I would choose the Brava 9
i say cant go wrong wit either or just the price keep it up
Good video. Any chance of doing a Bravia 9 vs G4 and/or S90d or S95d comparison? If so, could you show some high APL scenes in the comparison? I want to see how these tvs stack up in bright scenes (daylight, explosions, Matrix full field white, etc.) Oled wins dark scences, but what about bright scenes? Thanks.
Comparisons are in the works for vs G4 and vs S95D
The B9 is significantly better outside of game mode in comparison. In game mode, it’s more of an even playing field because the contrast is what’s really the main difference between these two TV’s. Game mode seems to take that contrast away. Does game mode disable local dimming at all? It seems I’ve heard that’s the case but I’m looking for more confirmation on that if anyone can help. Gaming on my C2 oled is awesome but I rarely use Vrr because it seems to dim the picture slightly. Thankfully, most games run pretty smoothly without it. Also, I’m not convinced that gaming on led in HDR is always best because I’ve noticed some games look twice as good with it disabled on a led regardless of how you set it. FYI, I’m talking ps4 pro/x900h. I’m sure things have improved significantly since then though. Anyone else had these experiences with other TV’s?
Thanks, great video👍🏼
Samsung Qn900D lacks details in some dark and bright area, and the color may be not correct as Sony Bravia 9. To anyone who wants better TV then you should buy Bravia 9.
LOL yeah ok
@@badpuppy3it is true
Great work! What's the horisontal lines on B9 at around 14:24 ? DSE? Did you also spot some minor vignetting around edges of B9? Looks to have good control of dimming though. Great mini-LED!
the lines were because the shutter speed of the camera and sony TVs dont play nice sometimes. That said there is DSE on my unit but it doesn't look like that its slightly noticeable in content its in the middle of the screen kinda splotchy again hard to notice unless you pan the sky and you really look for it, ive seen way worse id say its passable for LCD DSE.
Is Bravia 9 next best thing after OLED? My room setting doesnt allow for OLED, should I go for B9 or look at other alternatives?
Why spending that money for lcd TV ! Sony is overpriced and has lots of other TVs cheaper and does the same thing
I would say yes
I have the brighest room on earth and LG G3 is plenty bright enough, coming from a previous LED TV. This is a myth, OLED is just better and as bright now.
I’m proud that my comment made it in the video 😂
Sorry about not playing that moon video I watched it after that would have been cool to show, I’ll try and get in the final review if I remember.
@@TechWithKG no problem but yeah that demo is great for oleds and a good test of local dimming
je pense que le sony est le meilleur mini led du marché
SONY ✌🏻
Does the 900d surpress blooming in the black bars better than the Bravia 9?
Pretty similar in that regard
Does it worth to go 8K for a 75" TV ? :)
Dear all Yes, they are some differences but not as dramatically except some cases. As I'm watching comparations related TV models a lot I'm already convinced that when you need to choose you need to make compromises. As the Prices definitely the Bravia 9 it's the winner ! Just checked the prices for the two TV's and 3300 US dollars vs 5000 dollars...really! I have Samsung TV's from over 15 year right now I have a QN95A ,if now a should want to buy a new TV for sure I choose Bravia 9. All the bests to all!
My samsung QN90C smashed my sony x95j for gaming. I like Samsung much better for gaming. Not to mention 4x HDMI 2.1 ports.
question is this or an lg g4, i can buy the g4 for a heavy discount and can buy the 77 inch for 4000 aud, while the 75 bravia 9 is 7000aud still not out yet, mind you i got an 65 inch cx at the moment and sdr content is really bad on it.
That’s a huge price difference I’d just get G4 no question about it that price is crazy for you, SDR is solid on the G4. Bravia 9 SDR is brighter though.
No blooming to be seen."says now I'm seeing blooming" lolz
If I raised the exposure a bit more you'd see it, if only I could record through my eyes lol
UA-cam shows more blooming so we would definitely see it now.
Were you on angle?
sony won!
Is it just my eyes but did the Bravia struggle with the starfield section. Not with blooming but in trying to suppress it a lot of stars were missing. The 900d showed all but had a lot of blooming. Apart from this it is an impressive lcd
Around the 34:03 mark, I noticed that the B9 is able to display more stars with significantly less blooming.
I can't remember the whole stream lol but I think we had it in local dimming high which will cut blooming the most but reduce highlight brightness so that is probably what you witnessed. Medium = show more highlight brightness and show a little blooming
Hi KG, is that oled tv s95d ? Thx !
It was an LG C4, it was there for me to look at mainly I only brought it in to show people that were losing their minds in chat thinking any Mini LED could beat the contrast or match the contrast of an OLED its just not possible. Doesn't mean they are bad TVs its just part of the strengths and weaknesses if your stacking them up.
My use case is: 50% as productivity connected to a computer, 25% gaming and 25% streaming services like Netflix, Apple tv plus, and other streaming services. Which one of these TV's would you recommend for that use case👆. Thanks in advance and keep up the amazing work😃.
Thank you! 50% productivity I would lean the 8K because that screen resolution gives you a lot of screen real estate to work with if you want that is really nice, not sure if that would fit your personal work flow better or not but it is something to consider if you are looking at this as a productivity monitor. I know you said your leaning QN900D already I figure thats probably why? If you play pc games you do have the ability to do 4k 240hz with the QN900D so thats a nice little feature. As for watching movies & tv shows I thought this is where Bravia 9 excelled over the QN900D the most.
@@TechWithKG Thank you for the quick response. Yes the screen resolution is one aspect, so you guessed right. The gaming is maybe 15% console and 10% PC. Most of the games is not fast paced games like First person shooters; more crpg, rts, space games and so on. On the productivity aspect so it a-lot of static images, a lot of windows and tabs open and different programs. I'm leaning towards the 85" qn900d. I like that it has 4 2.1 hdmi ports and it doesn't hurt that it looks amazing, the design looks so good. But at the same time the Bravia looked sooo good in your video. If it would have been very close then the choice would have been easy and it would have been the qn900d but it looked like the b9 was quite a bit better. I have a CX 77 inch right now and I'm very tired of the abl, it is a really good tv and my first oled but i have realized that i don't only watch movies on my tv, its only one quarter of my usage.
@@Qulixz Definitely understand being tired of the ABL for productivity work
65” A95l & Bravia 9 are currently at $3300……which would you get and why?
bravia 9
x master drive backlight technology is insanely good
If gaming is important to you, I would choose the A95L. Oled is better for gaming and the Bravia 9 doesn’t have the best looking game mode. As a non expert, I would argue that Qd-Oled is as good as any tech in this Bravia 9. It’s apples to oranges. If I were you, I would at least wait until more in depth reviews and some side by side comparisons to see what picture you prefer.
I’d lean A95L unless you need extremely bright SDR viewing
Sony much better
Isn't the Sony Bravia 9 a 4K not an 8K like the samsung
Correct
Samsung is nerfing their tvs. Not worth the headache. They get you to buy, then lower the brightness so you buy again for their next tv
WOW👑SONY GOD FOREVER 🥇✌️👑
How many nits have QN900d ? İs this 1870 or 4000
It’s about 2,000 nits and BRAVIA 9 is about 2,900 max hdr brightness
@@TechWithKG bro , QN900b or QN900D which one is good for nit ?
D is brighter and sustains its brightness longer with full screen brightness

Was tempted to go Bravia 9 but can only go to 65" and they not releasing it in that size in the UK. Leaves me with the Bravia 7 or the A95L and ill be coming from OLED anyway, so will probably stick with the A95L. Got the Sony Bravia Quads yesterday, impressive bit of kit and much better than the originals.
I think you are comparing the wrong TV. Bravia 9 direct rival is Samsung QN95D, which is their top tier 4K LCDTV. This model is 8K, which not many people would buy.
QN95D is basically a 4K version of the QN900D same amount of dimming zones etc. QN900D has a better processor.
Though it has a better processor, it’s not a native 4K model. FOMO did the same mistake by comparing it to other 4K lcd sets from other manufacturers. Why not compare 4K models? 8K is dead and no other Tv companies are selling except Samsung 😂
@@amitavraja3385 8K isn't dead. I have two 8K TV's and I will ONLY buy 8K TV's. And when Nvidia releases their 5000 series graphics cards, 8K TV's will be in more demand.

@@amitavraja3385LG has released the 8K Z3 WOLED TV with MLA, so 8K is not quite dead yet.
From this comparison they both look identical on most comparisons… I’ve never liked Sony Reds and they are still slightly different than Samsung… about the same to me 35:57
The oled still obliterated these mini LEDs.why, becaucse contrast is king.not impressed with the b9 as it suppressed peak highlight brightness for less bloom while the 900d had higher peak highlights with more bloom.

Samsung, please:
make an 83 inch... even better make an 88 inch... QD oled
OLED is a dead end technology. Samsung would rather invest in getting a Micro LED TV to the mass market.
Samsung is better
8k tax vs Sony tax.
😂😂😂😂😂 how u make 4k VS 8k come on
Sony ist better for me
Oled tvs are still better than any lcd tv.
Lg Gx in my bedroom and the S95c in my living room. Both are awesome tvs
I feel like if Samsung Display had an 83" QD-OLED panel, Sony wouldn't have even bothered making this TV. I see zero reason to invest R&D resources into a dying technology... even though it's an impressive LCD TV, how much can you milk this technology?
I remember they said the same thing about the X95K when it came out. That it was revolutionary.
Couldn't agree more.
I would have bought an 83” A95L.
OLED is the dying technology dude. In a few years, OLED TV's will have gone the way of Plasma. The market will be segmented between Mini LED (with 100,000 dimming zones) and Micro LED which will eat OLED's lunch.
Yeah OLED Is the one that is dying.
sony better

nothing spectacular to make you say WOW! Still can't touch oled
9 definitely is a wow factor TV it passes the eye test for sure and content is incredible on it, it’s got its pros and cons for sure but it’s a great TV overall.
Samsung with the 8k and All-new Advanced Processor…. Bravia 9 will be eaten alive.
