    The opposition are exploiting him obviously, but all the tactical tweaks from Slot in the world wont do anything if a player cant be arsed to put in the effort. Slot said after his first game in charge that for your tactics to have any meaningfull effect you need to win your duels. Trent won 0 duels in 80 mins. Which is strange because up untill the Fulham game he did good on the defensive side. Slot would probably have hooked him earlier if Bradley was ready to do more minutes.

    Trent has been dribbled past 30 times this season. Thats more than any other RIGHT BACK in the top 5 leagues in europe!!!Trent has made 9 assists in his last 57 games. People are being sentimental and holding onto his highlights in their minds.
    Rather have a solid defence with Bradley who's a much better defender than Trent, than wait 4-5 games for Trent to make one hollywood assist, while every team attacks us on on Trents side (which they all have been targetting for the last 2 years).

      @@jameshansing5396 His assists was at its highest prior to the pandemic before all this midfield talk had started. Most of his assists came from crosses from wide. His numbers once drifting into Midfield is far less than when he has played wide. **One needs to look at the origin of stepping into midfield. It started because Southgate did not rate trent as a RB cos of his poor defending. He convinced Trent that he should play midfield to get into the England lineup. That is when trent started drifting into the midfield and leaving a huge hole at the back. It was not Klopp asking him to do that, it was more Klopp having to accommodate Trent. Klopp allowed trent to do as he wished. Trent has never had discipline.

      @@jameshansing5396 Trents best assist rate was prepandemic when he was playing out wide and crossing.. One needs to look at the origin of all this midfield talk.. Gareth southgate did not want to play Trent as he found him defensively weaker than other Right backs.He convinced Trent that if he wanted to get into the England team and play, he weould need to play in Midfield. That is when Trent started drifting into midfield. So its not that Klopp had asked him to do that. I feel klopp had never had any discipline with Trent and just let him do whatever he wanted.. The only position for trent does not exist in most of the modern game anymore. And that is Right Midfield in a 4-4-2 with a RB behind him (David Beckham position). That way he can make use of his talent of crossing. He can't play in the middle as he don't get crossing opportunities, and he can't play RB as he can't defend.

    I'm going to put recent form to one side and address the elephant in the room. Trent is vice captain and has expressed his desire to be club captain. Looking at his attitude on the field, and his attitude when substituted, he shows that he's not captain material. I believe it would be a huge mistake to give him the added responsibility of club captain when he's not once shown that he possesses the qualities required for the role.

    Good shit boys!
    @Josh - I disagree about "on the ball" being affected. Focus can impact ball playing ability as can be seen in, say the Spurs game, when we were multiple goals up. Passing gets sloppy when focus drops and focus drops for many reasons, but not being 100% committed or focuded is one of the reasons.
    I also think Trent tends to pass the wide attacker on, as seen in the highlighted Fulham phase of play and United's 2nd. For United's 2nd, Ibou heads a long ball, and Trent casually strolls inside, not making a run or trying to win the 2nd ball, but just passing the responsibility on to Ibou.

    I honestly just think he's got a kind of personality that doesn't react well to a home crowd getting on his back. It might give some players a kick up the arse to try harder getting shouted at but I think he just shuts down when he hears it. You could see it on his face during the game that he was listening to the abuse & didn't know how to handle it. When some people get a lot of stick it makes them not want to try harder. That kind of personality worries me because it's not going to stop until he comes out & clears up the contract situation one way or another.

    9:01 He only wants play the piano and hates carrying it. If it was up to him, he’d never have to carry it, but his quickest route into Liverpool’s starting XI happened to be playing as a right-back, a defender. It makes him gesture defend i.e he is pretending to carry the piano, putting his hand on it and everything, but really not lifting it, hoping it doesn’t completely fall apart with the help of others around him. If nothing bad happens and we regain possession, great, he can start playing as his mind’s already been on what he’s gonna play next all throughout the carrying bit anyway.
    It’s just the way he’s wired and he aint gonna change, not now as a 26 y/o. He’s the anti-Macherano, anti-Gattuso. Artist.

  • @a238859
    @a238859 18 днів тому +1

    At this point, one has to wonder if it makes sense to sell him to Madrid now, if indeed there is an offer. Bradley is a quality right-back. Yes, he can't do something TAA can do, but we don't have to constantly worry about covering up for him either. We do need a quality backup since Bradley hasn't been super durable. There has to be a decent right back available. Reinvest whatever you can get for Trent, add something if necessary and get another solid option. It does not need to be a superstar. Honestly, I feel Trent has not contributed that much to the offense this season. Yes, he can make highlight reel passes, but sometimes he gets too much credit for that. Quansah made a beautiful pass to Trent recently and it was barely mentioned while the next pass Trent made to Salah was praised.
    The tough part is that Robertson has been subpar this year, so we have to worry about both fullback positions. That foul Robertson made unnecessarily holding on to the guy with one minute left in added time was shockingly dumb. There is no danger at all and you are giving up a free kick in a dangerous position. I can't understand how an experienced player can make a mistake like that.

I disagree, we've seen him have performances like this b4. It was 90% based performance, 10% contract talks. You have to consider also that we went a whole week without playing a game and you know that it disrupts our rhythm, especially when you look at what happens after the international breaks. Things may get worse for him from this point on, this is when the contract talks could TRULY 90% affect his performance.

He is nonchalant in both good and bad, making him look sometimes as a maestro a la Pirlo, and sometimes like Mario Balotelli who tries gegenpressing. i'm sure it's not exclusive to either one, and could be a mixture. i just don't think it neccasarily means he is ready for Patatas bravas in spain yet, but his flaw as a footballer, more spesifically as a defender. VVD can get away with it because he is the perfect package of a defender and is able to correct his mistake 97% time, while TAA doesn't have the defensive capebilities as His captain. I get what Chris is saying handing in your notice and not committing in the last week or so. But at the same time, you don't have the chance of lifting the biggest trophies in the world after a season at Morrisons.

    Do you think there is something in my theory that Amorim targeted TAA, because he is under a stressfull situation and amorim's united could gain success by dampening the crowds support for him? Win a few duels fast against a person under tremendous pressure.
    i'm not reffering to it being a tactical pitch decision, but more a mental move. choose the weak one in the herd.

    I'm irritated by Trent's complacency/jogging etc.
    But equally, he's human, he's under fire by his own fans, not playing well by his own standards, and I'm sure Arne is on his case.

    Trent is not worth £300k a week and a massive signing on fee, Bradley is the better affordable option.

    i think Slot has to change his tactic! we praised him at the start for moulding the team into a more secure team…..after 45 mn i could see that trent and jones couldn’t kick a football….there is 100 tweaks he could have done …ask the team to drop back and let united in control hit them on the transitions! tell macca to play in the right inside !salah has to defend a bit more in this situation…so many things could have been done !!!the changes happened too late and we brought the wrong player on 🤯🤯🤯not happy with trent attitude…bench next game

    So it was obvious what was happening in the first 1/2 with their tactics and Trents form so during that time and most of the second 1/2 why didn't the manager or backroom staff (of which there are many and Slot has said how great they are) do bugger all to address it? If your not a Liverpool fan so could say he was left out to dry.

    Trent is a special player. But lacking effort in a man united match is unacceptable, especially being a scouser. Can u even imagine if gerrard played like that against united??? Gerrard was always charging in to slide tackles, starting fights, a true scouser, what is wrong with trent? How can u act like ur bigger than ur club when ur not even the top player in the team?

  • @sihi5634
    @sihi5634 17 днів тому

    Listen, Trent was awful but if a team focus all their play down one side because that’s where their good players are then any goals are likely to come down that side. It was robbo first and now Trent, I’m just saying that you shouldn’t expect for everything to be sorted if we buy two new full backs, we will still concede.

    U cant have that issue down ure right side when we play forest next league game away with their pace in attack, and konate getting constantly dragged wide into the right channel we need to be compact, its a big decision for the manager in terms of line up and in game if this right side continues to cause us these defensive issues.

    On the Martinez goal- it has nothing to do with Grav. TRENT GAVE THE BALL AWAY. If you turn the ball over in the attacking third as a defender, your number one priority and obligation to your teammates is to sprint back like your fucking life depends on it. The jogging and apathetic attitude while playing sooo shitty (in this match of all occasions) is appalling.

Shouldn't of been given it in the 1st place.. he's a fantastic player on the ball but he's never displayed any characteristics a leader should, Doesn't work hard enough on the basics , doesn't communicate,, doesn't organize, doesn't set standards by bollocking or crunching someone.

    Guys, Trent's ball led to the penalty. This got us to 2-1.... it was not just him responsible for the losing that position. He's a great player that had a bad game and smack in the head off the boards too.....He'll bounce back I know this must be a very tough time for him but he's going to prove again why he is a top player. Perhaps Slot should come up with solutions for when Trent is overloaded...Szobo was missed, but hat else can be done to help him out...??

      @@davewood1982 he was overloaded(2 on 1) and targeted. For me the team win, draws and loses together. Sticking together is key. Yes he could get stuck in more, and I am sure they ill go over this. But the booing and blaming is not constructive - the players hear it and it definitely impacts confidence
