My Akita is 15 years.old. Best dog I could of gotten for my family. He never dug up the yard or tore down the fences, only barks when necessary, great protector, well behaved. Only warning he would not allow anyone to pet him or get near the children when me or their father was not present.
This is the cutest pup I have ever seen; I’ve been researching American Akita’s and I want one SO BAD. Saw my first one ever in person, it was an adult male, freaking friendliest dog I’ve ever met. It was outside the local golf course clubhouse while we were having our Christmas party this year and it was -40C he was just saying hi to everyone arriving, he did jump up on some of us, no biting, no barking, just a giant teddy bear. Freaking awesome dog, he didn’t give a hoot that it was 40 below either.
I have an Akita and a German Shepard, the Akita is favorite. They both are about 10 years old. Im not getting another Akita because, Sheba is the only one I ever wanted and nothing can replace her.
Bad Dream That’s Akita nature. They’re all like that, they’ve not had any awful things bred into them, whereas the pug has been ruined with the horrible requirements people have bred into them. Pugs are one of the breeds that the veterinary association wants to get rid off because they live miserable lives.

I owned an akita for 13yrs , he was very trainable and warned me when my mother was going to have a seizure. I miss him a lot.

My Akita, Radar recently passed. 11 years old, and he was the smartest, and most loyal dog I’ve come in contact with.. wonderful breed.
