@@thefingerofgod69 Yep. He is extremely protective of me. May be too much but I love him to death. I should clarify that I meant when I take him out he always has to be on leash not in doors and I muzzle him if allot of people are around BC everyone thinks hes a big cuddly bear and want to just walk right up to us. The only other humans he likes is the owners of the female shepherd down the street. He and the shepherd get along great. And he lives with 2 cats and his big brother, an 18lb chihuahua mix
He is defently not always off leash. More on than off. Because if a dog is in his eyes not following our pack rules he will correct that dog. It is a correction never ever did he harm a dog, but we just don’t want to try and find out. We protect him for the way people think. He is off lead in location we feel save to let him. Untill 6/8 months he was allot off leash but around 8 months he changed a bit and I didn’t find it responsible owner ship to let him off leash all the time. So just better safe then sorry
My dog is 7 months 90-95 pounds. Nothing but pure joy from him. He's pain outside though because he likes to play with balls and snow back in Feb when he was 2 months he loved the snow assuming by time it snows again he'll be a year old and enjoy it even more. He's a funny dog though.
They truly are only for ones that have been versed with their independence, much like a cat. And extreme loyalty, that you must be aware of visitors that might be interrupted as aggressive towards you. I use to have to put mine in a room until some people left. And when you think they aren’t guarding you, is when you could make a mistake. They are very protective and smart. Great escape artist, too.
He is totaly blind now. The best i ever could have. Wil no escape and is very nice also to strangers as lon as we are near. We do not have to seperate him. But we trained and care for him every day and worked allot on our harmony in our pack.
@@mercedesbenzs600bash They do not need special training for that; the training would be to keep the instinct under control. They are natural guards. You have to watch your mannerisms around other people, etc. If the Akita thinks you need protected it will want to whether you want to or not. I had a friend stop by, I saw him coming to the door so I stood beside the Akita to make sure he didn't approach. I didn't realize I made the Akita think he was supposed to guard me... He didn't lunge, but he was stone still with a death stare that scared the crap out of the guy. He went back outside right away. Poor guy! But I was proud of the Akita. They are fearless
We just got our first Akita! Her name is Yuka! She's 8 weeks old and i cant believe how big she is! She a joy! She loves being outside... I was wondering if you got your dogs ears clipped?
No absolutely not Clipped ears!! When they are young the ears are down but when they are growing up they will rise!! Around 16 weeks most of the pups have there ears up
my Akita was American and intact he topped out at 165 all mussel and was my best friend I am a visiting nurse he went to work with me we were never apart.
June Sines How are they as a first time dog ? Are the American different than Japanese in temperament ? Are females different than males in temperament. I am also a Nurse,no children but have 1 adult cat.
I want an Akita so bad! I plan on saving up and getting one and prove to everyone in my family that it’s not the dog who’s “mean” it’s the way they’re raised❤️❤️
Don’t ever listen to the bad about Akitas they are very easy going dogs. Any dog can be raised good, or bad. You will never want another bread after owning one so be prepared. I’ve had 2 already , and never regretted it ever.
Not only the way they are raised also how they are bred, a good breeder looks not only for health, beauty but also to behavior. It’s is almost as important as how they are raised
i do not know anymore. we watched our dog, when he got to skinny we gave him mode, when i he got to fat less. always watch youre dog he Will tell you how mutch he needs!
we gave him when he was a pup purina pro plan. but no he got hubertus, it is special for breeds that are alergic for some ingrediënts. in a short time i want to step over on raw Meat, because it is better for the akita.. do you're researche, cause pro plan is not the same in every country. ask you're breeder they wil know what is best
Akitas are normally agressive to dogs not humans actually but it also depends not all akitas are the same just make sure to give your Akita plenty of socializing
Keep it fun, keep youre cool and keep the diversion in the training. Reward alot!!! To mitch reward is not a isseu!! But do not reward on the wrong time!! Be aware when you're dog is done, do not ever use force!!! Be patience!! And have fun alot of fun. For tricks you can look at a other video of mine.. Good luck training 😉👍🏻
Lovely looking dog. I have 2 Labradors and would love to get an Akita, but am afraid that they wouldn't get on. Everything I read on Akitas tells me that they rarely mix with other dogs, particularly those of same sex. Your Akita seems to get on great with your other dogs, and I see from your previous post he's 'intact', so it must be possible..
Dear pumpkin. my Akita is still intact, but he is also just 11 months. I've got 2 border collie, one male one female. The male is neutered, the female isn't. It still is going right but allot of Akita owners warning me, because Akita's do change at 13 months allot. I hope he will keep the good interaction. But i am well aware of that it could change. If you want to have a Akita, keep in mind that it is not just a dog. Our Akita had a lot of socialization, from about he was 8 weeks. Now still we socialize him with strange dogs. Some are going very well some are offended by his posture. We will never allow him to put a other dog in his place. he needs to come to us if he is in trouble, then we will fix the problem. If he correct a other dog, what he is doing quit well, he gets a correction. We will never allow him to do that even when he is right. Because it is a dog wen they mature of 65 KG, it will be futile for the other dogs if he grabs them. Be careful, watchful and above all, you need to know the dog language out of you're thumb. Because the language of a Akita is different that other dogs. You need to learn you're Akita how he could interact with other dogs. It is not a dog for beginners and defiantly not a social dog out of his own. It needs a hell lot of training. If you got two male Labradors it is wisely to get a female Akita, if you've got bitches get a male. Think about it and make a well over thought decision. Good luck
he is now 5 years old and still a pack with a male bordercollie and a female akita. it is a pack and it is still working. but it takes a lot of time and training.
Beautiful boy! I wish I could let my boy off leash. To him everyone is the enemy. 120lbs with paws the size of my hands. He's a beast.
Wait you always gotta keep him on a leash, why????
@@mercedesbenzs600bash ummm... hes an Akita. Male, dominant. And like I said, to him everyone is the enemy.

A fine floofy lad. I greatly admire the physical stature and posture of akitas. As powerful-looking as a lightning in the horizon.
Beautiful, reminds me of our younger Akita and his bigger sister, a husky.
