Wish you guys made them with a GPS antenna for gaining speed information. The obd2 port is occupied by so many other devices in so many vehicles now, it seems kind of ridiculous to require plugging in to obd2 just to get the speed information for a blindspot detection system. Imho that is!
Update: The new RDBS-1600 picks up speed from the ground so no more OBD2 port. It works with anything, including electric vehicles, that doesn't have a metal bumper.
As long as you don't have metal bumpers you can, but I would recommend looking at the FVMR-1100 or the FVMR-1150. They are both front DVR and rear FullVUE cameras. Other options to look at are the AHDS-7810 and if its a work truck the FLTW-3600. There are videos on the website to see how they work.
Can it be fitted in a 2020 Hyundai i30 1.5MHEV? And can I use a OEM mirror plate with a BlindSpot Led instead of the indicator LED that comes as standard?
It should. The RDBS-1500 reads vehicle speed via the CAN high and CAN low at the OBD 2 connector. As long as it can detect that signal, it will work. There is a test mode that should be run before installation to confirm this. The LED lights are designed to work for interior installations. They won't last long term to exterior exposure.
It should. We know it works with Audi's and as a VW group company the ability to read speed from the OBD II should be the same. The 1500 can be run in test mode before removing the bumpers to ensure compatibility

It's possible to lose a GPS signal (like in a tunnel) so we can't have a system that works anything less than 100% of the time like the OBD port does.

It does not work on vehicles with metal bumpers. The radar will not penetrate it. If you have a plastic bumper it will.
