I’m 51 and 7 HC, been playing Mizuno iron for the last 20+ years, same set. Last week I finally went to get fitted for some new and last set of irons for me. I had my mind set on the 223’s and hit about 70 balls and really like them. Then the guys says, hey are ya open to trying something else? I said sure. He handed me the i230 and hit it one time and that was it! Ordered new set of i230 irons. Done deal!!!
I just switched from 714 ap2 to the 223, I really love the 223's i picked up about 8 yards with them over the ap2. I do like the 4 and 5 iron on the 714 ap2 set better though. The ap2 long irons felt more workable and easier to flight shots but ive fallen in love with the mizuno buttery soft feel.
I actually agree with you but in my situation I went down a ton in weight (on shafts) so it may have something to do with it. My 5 iron use to be my favorite iron but now neither 4/5 in my newest t100s aren’t fun to hit
@@DC-jt9py if the average golfer (say 10 ish handicapper) truly got fit/understood what the proper weight shafts/length lie and if they need more spin/height/what ball to play they could get so much c9 better just by those small things. I recently got a graphite shaft on my 4 iron it’s so buttery sweet.
I would love ❤️ a comparison between the mizuno 225 and the Ping i230, the reason is do l go for a more power bat club or a more regular lofted club, both look beautiful, thanks
Good comparison. I tested 223 against i525 and i230. Coming from MP20-MB for me the i230 is the best balance of distance, forgiveness, all round performance and “feel”. Also in the process of switching from T20 wedges to Glide 4.0, small compromise on feel but balanced out with a switch from ProV1 Left Dash (firm ball) to ProV1 (softer feel) to balance out the spin characteristics and feel around the green.
Hi Greg, club choice should never really be subject just to handicap. Manufacturers for years have been classing their products to handicap ranges where that's simply misselling. Golfers require different things from a club, and I've coached many high handicap golfers that strike the ball relatively well it's inconsistencies in the swing that causes their poor scoring. So never get sold a club based on handicap range. Both three clubs can be played by all golfers within the handicap range depending on their particular requirements. If you know your baseline club delivery and tenancies and also your strike tenancies, I'll be able to answer your question much more tailored to your needs 👍 Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍
The price difference comes into the equation, ping are a lot more expensive, AUD $700 in fact (graphite in both brands) , that's nearly a new driver. i like Ping but not that much, you still have to put a good swing onto any club.
@@AskGolfNut I play project x 6.0,and am thinking about graphite shafts like a lot of other players. Can you do a test with something comparable ,or a little softer? For spin, and height?
Hi RickO, unfortunately I'm not shaft sensitive so changing shafts have little to no effect on my ball flight. I will have to do this test gaining the info from other golfers 👍

They definitely are my favourite ping iron ever. Glad you are happy with your choice.
Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻
yes I would like to see pro 225 vs i230

Similar to you I went from the CB 714 to the 223s. I dropped my shaft weight from 120g to 105g. I ended up gaining 10-15 yards

Awesome Review 😊
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍

Prov1 left dash verse what?! I’m a “titleist ball person” only but never heard of this?
Do you mean the red vs black?
Would the i210 perform mostly the same as the i230
Mostly, there are some performance gains with the new i230 over i210 and also a bit more forgiveness but mainly on the whole you aren't too far out 👍
Just got I230's ...Love the feel...Old clubs were G15's.
Just what I'm looking for. By the way any comparison with the titleist irons?
Got me thinking of some new clubs. I hope I can find a fitter around me with lefty options
What handicap range would you recommend for these two clubs? Which is longer blade length? Thanks for the video.

I would actually love to see the Ping vs Srixon ZX7. Know they are older, but endo forge and pretty forgiving!
Srixon new Zx7 MKII dropping soon.

Would love to see 230 power spec v some other clubs
Or it could use a 6 iron 😁😁
Only prob is I hit my irons a bit high so was wondering if the power spec has a higher peak height than the p790
I’m not looking for to much more distance but a bit more forgiveness than my Miura tc 201
Are you offering both of these custom fit? Thanks

Time to compare an updated dog --> Mizuno 243.
245 thin face will feel mushy just like others but probably feel better than most on mishits.
I'm surprised that with the way to set up to the ball and the way you swing that you are a couple of degrees toe down at impact.
I early extend a bit 👍
Playing the 223s and absolutely love them. Never been a fan of Ping but those irons are beautiful.
How can you not be a fan of ping? Probably the most underrated brand out there
@@AlwaysYellFore cant love them all. They are probable very good, but just never had my sight on Pung in general.
The ping looks like the Original i blade which I thought was easily the best ping club.
It was great looking almost bought a new set, not very good on mishits. The i210 buried the iBlade
thank you
Thanks RickO 👍
