    Always enjoy your videos, thank you so much for sharing! In the future, kindly consider doing a video on auto voltage regulator, rectifier diode and Zener diode "maintenance." Our engineers carried out trouble shooting for the low insulation of DC 24V circuit for the ECR console and found that the rectifier #3 and Diode #4 are "reading voltage in both directions," which caused a low insulation "alarm" for DC 24V circuit that feed the ECR console from the battery charger. This caused general batteries to be depleted. We replaced the AVR according to the maker instructions and now batteries are being charged normally. We interpreted this trouble shooting to be diode losing bias and the circuit capacitor may have been damaged by transient surge voltage from either large induction motor damage, lightning, blackout, D/G frequency hunting possibly from D/G fuel pump or injection valve not being properly maintained. Thank you!

    Sir request po. Ano po yung mga maintenance na ginagawa nyo sa ICCP daily or monthly at Paano mapapanatili ang efficiency nito. Pati na rin po sa shaft grounding. 4E po ako sa barko kaso wala pong electrician bale ako gumagawa sa trabaho ni lecky. Thanks po sa mga videos nyo at marami kayong natutulungan keep vlogging lang po. Someday dadami po yung subscribers nyo dahil maganda mga content ng videos nyo.

    pls explain other what will happen if shaft grounding is not working properly it will cause major problems in main engine bearings if it's not working , correct me if am wrong.

    • @liwinthomas4107
      @liwinthomas4107 3 роки тому +1

      When shaft is rotating static charge is created on it. If grounding is not proper static charge keep on accumulating and it can ultimately lead to sudden electric discharge in the bearings and it will cause pitting of main engine bearing .

      @@liwinthomas4107 Sparks in the engine crankcase are dangerous also because they may light up the oil mist, isn't it?

    • @christianmanong3606

      It will cause disturbance in the hydrostatic lubrication of your bearings.

    • @rodrigosamson1937
      @rodrigosamson1937 2 роки тому

      if shaft grounding failed, the sparks that may created can damage and seize ME journals, bearings and may also create oil mists that will trigger the ME OMD.
      When my shaft grouding failed, i.e. slip ring was damaged. The brushes are touching the shaft. The reading was 250mv and beyond. When I installed the new slip ring, the reading is almost zero but deflecting little bit. Honestly, Im still puzzled if what is wrong on my system. Slip ring has good contact on the shaft, the brushes are still in good condition, the slip ring was new, the ICCP unit displays normal values for current, voltage, and ref cells.

    I have a question. The anodes produce current by themselves because of seawater?.If so, why we use the panel?.We use it to monitor the current produced by anodes?.

    • @albertodelmoro
      @albertodelmoro 2 роки тому +1

      Sacrificial anodes (aluminum or zinc alloy made) generate a DC current themselves when coupled to steel made hull by means of welding and seawater due to natural electrochemical reactions but get consumed with time to the point they stop working and need replacement. Instead, insoluble anodes (platinum or titanium made) transfer the DC current generated by the panel to the hull, in a controlled and adjustable manner. That's the ICCP system explained by Jake.

    • @albertodelmoro
      @albertodelmoro 2 роки тому +1

      Let's say it's two different methods but large ships prefer ICCP, to minimize vessel maintenance time.

      @@albertodelmoro how the panel generates dc current is there any dynamo

    • @albertodelmoro
      @albertodelmoro Рік тому +1

      @BT😉 No, it is usually fed by low voltage AC power grid, 220 V or 415 V, which is rectified to produce the required DC current output.

    Good day leckyjake!
    My query ako about shaft grounding device by Cathelco. All silver graphite renewed. Tinanggal ko na ung slip rings ok naman at nilinis ko ma rin ung shaft surface. Resistance ng slip rings at shaft is 0. Terminal lugs ng ground wires ok naman. Still showing 60mV. Ung tension ng spring sa brushes is max na. Anu pa kaya ang problem. Ung ICCP naman namin eh waiting pa kmi ng thyristor kaya 0 output si wala nmn cguro kinalaman un kasi brackish water kmi.

    • @leckyjake
      @leckyjake  4 роки тому +2

      Tingnan mo din ang composition ng brush mo. Same trouble i had here last week. Bago yung brush nag fluctuate pa to 80 mV kaya binalik ko luma mas stable sa 30.

      @@leckyjake ok thanks will do this after sailing. Tumaas ung reading while old brushes pa naka install. After ko pinalitan ganun pa rin 65mV. Pero will test ung nga old brushes hopefuly maging ok. Nagtataka lang ako bakit pag check ko ng tester sa brushes nasa 30mv pero pag sa meter 65mV. 🤦‍♂️
