Imagine that You lost your beloved fatherland, You are far, far away and You can't never, ever return back to places where You lived, that You grow up and loved. All that's left is sorrow, pain and longing, that's how Chopin felt. All he could, was to pour all of his indescribable emotions into music. Music so beautiful, yet so haunting and sad...

I've just read that this prelude was the one Chopin wanted to be played at his funeral. This confirms someway my impression that when he composed it he felt particularly inspired. When I listen to it I think God must be Polish...
Chopin spent his childhood struggling with ill health, his most productive years were marred by him (as an unyielding Polish patriot)witnessing the failure of the November Uprising whilst as an adult he suffered from bouts of tuberculosis, temporal lobe epilepsy and bronchitis. Never married with no children, unappreciated in his final years and passed away in his 30s, no wonder most of his music has the undertones of macabre pessimism.
I know nothing of classical music, but hearing his music just hit me and i had to find out who he is. Now i knowwhy. While my life has been miserable, not nearly as bad as his, i liked the haunting sounds of his music
todd haines Chopin just falls with heaviness on my mind. All my childhood memories are passing in front of me. It really makes me feel a serious level of sadness. I can't imagine how it will be when I become older and older.
That sounds about right! As someone who was ill and/or in pain due to illness from birth until about 10 years ago, I an not shocked to learn the details of Chopin's life. Thank You ever so much for providing them. It makes perfect sense that he is my favourite composer by far and often the fav. of similarly blessed & cursed, sensitive in nature , health, sentiment etc. people. God be Praised for improving my health, nearly eliminating my physical and emotional suffering, curing me of a genetic immune disorder(quite literally a miracle which my doctors cannot explain and, since they didn't know me when it was chronic & would cripple my hands and feet for several fortnights each year, assume I'm lying or crazy or both) and also Thanks be to God for allowing my suffering to bring me great spiritual, creative and transcendental benefit! Chopin's music always sounds to me as if he is playing it in another room, in an empty summer house whom a friend has lent him for the very silent, snowy winter. It has such a stark, passionate, fragile beauty. That which only one who has known oneself through resignation to the solitary and unrelenting nature of a broken body and crushed heart. C.S.Lewis said of pain and it's resultant suffering,''It's a bloody brutal teacher, but by God you will learn the lesson it means to teach you!'' R.I.P. Chopin & Lewis Peace, Regan
I just today found that the Bossa Nova Jazz tune which came out in the late 60s called "How Insensitive" was based on this. Jobim wrote the words in Portugese "Insensetaz" which does not literally mean insensitive, rather absurdity or folly, however the song as we know it in English seems to attempt to convey the darkness which comes through to many of us in this Prelude by Frederic Chopin. I have been drawn to that jazz song since I was 18, and now i find out it's based on something written by my **favorite** composer! Well of course, if it's Chopin, no wonder that it's a magnet for my listening sensibilities. This is brief and beautiful.
Wow, good for you. That's a great start. For me I had to master gingle bel at first then I moved on to more challenging pieces but like they say you always have to start somewhere.
Mi domando come sia possibile che il suo Cuore sia custodito integro e, nel medesimo tempo, un frammento di esso possa trovarsi in ognuno di noi che cosi tanto lo amiamo. Giorgio.
Iskandar Husain Khan thats the most difficult part of the piece. It isn't that hard to master after you get the hang of it plus its only like 2-3 measures.
Chopin was Polish. His is the most beautiful haunting music full of romantic overtones and patriotic ones as well, especially nocturnes. Other pieces such as composition created in Paris, France, called "revolutionary etude" are Chopin's painful reaction to Russian military aggression against Polish nation at that time
The poem at the right is beautiful, of course to the ones who are turkish. However this piece by itself is from another world. Breaks my heart into pieces whenever i listen to it.
Sometimes there are no words to say but im sorry. Stay strong and smile at the happy moments you had for those memories are the precious things in life.

none of my family members listens to the songs I listen to. They say it's boring and opera is annoying. Can't they feel it? Can't they feel the notes? This is louder than words
@silentbutterfly This is probably due to the fact that most people are into more modern or contemporary styles of music. Personally for myself, Opera isn't something I enjoy, as I am not much a fan of "operatic" vocals. But I do quite enjoy classical instrumentals, such as in the video featured here. I can partially relate to what you described, though. For instance, most people I know do not appreciate instrumental music as I do. The ones that actually do are the extreme minority.
