- This is Chopin's Raindrops from the Eternal Sonata soundtrack. I got bored one day and made this messing around with my laptops video editor program. I didn't know what I was doing so there's a long silence at the end. Oh well.
ahh Fredrich Chopin, my pillow in the mental storm
Well said, John. Well said.
I applaud you, my friend
+SpaghettiToaster I think he means it helps him through the depressions , anxiety through life if he may have any .
+SpaghettiToaster
You squeeze it for comfort.
John Tripp What a lovely comment. I hope all your storms have passed.Chopin makes me cry and gives me shivers like no other composer. Thanks mum for introducing me to his utter genius.
the first time when i heard this was on a halo 3 tv spot, i rememer it was so amazing
This song keeps me sane
It's sad that you don't hear masterpieces like this anymore in this day and age.
i'm listening to this while its raining gently outside and when the music stops and i start hearing nature's voices again... i can't decide which one is more beautiful
Chopin
evan s Beautiful said
Nature
Chopin is a product of nature too :D
sunita mann I prefer to play it while raining
Way back in highschool there was a math teacher who would play classical music on fridays on his piano. And this was one of his favorite pieces.
+Emilie Dodge had an arts teacher in primary school who made us paint while she had classical music playing in the background, her classes was teh shit; partially why I'm still remembering Bach's Air so fondly.
+Emilie Dodge That's awesome. Following the awesome electronic music track by Boards of Canada -> Music is Math. So in that sense you couldn't go wrong with Chopin! Both math and feeling!
+Emilie Dodge Thats what I call a good class!!
I'd love to meet that teacher :D
My math teacher does the exact same thing :). Will always remember it..
Whoever the pianist is, he or she digs deeper into this prelude than most pianists do. This performance seems to express exactly what Schumann said of Chopin's music---"guns buried in flowers".
I can bring myself to cry so easily to this song I don't know why, this song at first feels nice and uplifting but then the true darkness emerges. Just how after childhood you realize we live in a world with so much hate. Love is the answer and it will always be the answer. God bless
Classical music is unmatched when it comes to emotions. Joy, fright, sadness. No other music style can capture it as well.
This Prelude Op.28 Num.15 was composed in the 1838-1839 winter in the village of Valldemosa in the Mallorca island in Spain, where Chopin was with George Sand and her children, Maurice and Solange. The ''ostinato' note is an A flat and imitates the sound of rain on the roof tiles on a rainy night.
George
one of ten most beautiful compositions ever written
lol what are the other nine?
ballade in g minor
Rerevie by Debussy
Clair de Lune is 1st
It will always be first for me
Why did you waste your breath, ya potty mouthed old fart
My favorite composition by Chopin. When it rains, I often think of the Raindrop and play it.
I once listened to this lying on the couch & literally bawled my eyeballs out!. Felt emotionally drained afterward
+jan brady
It is haunting and powerful, yeah. Love it, but I can't listen to it often for that reason.
I love how some of you think this was made for Halo but this song was made in 1839 by one of the greatest pianists of time. During the romantic period.
Realy ? HAHAHA
Very intelligent u are
wait, what does this have to do with halo? when i think of halo i think of awesome drums, not awesome piano. is this song in a halo game?
fiddleleaf You may have already found it by now but look for the Halo 3 "Believe" ad.
-Such a badass ad!
THE greatest*
I played this to my infant son in his bedtime playlist. He started fussing and crying exactly when the music wanted him to, and then went right to sleep when the music released him. There's something primal there.
i have no words for how this moves me.
This piece.....it takes me somewhere I can't describe. Chopin was a hell of a composer.
only music I can do my reading with, calm background
I was practicing this earlier with the windows open when it started to rain. There are apple trees, cherry trees, and lilac bushes in my backyard that are all blooming. A light breeze picked up and the scent of the blossoms filled my house. That mixed with the sound of rain hitting the leaves and the music playing made me feel so calm and relaxed. I love spring.
It's been 6 months now my mother passed away...and chopin was a master in his day...it let's me think of all the good times I had with my mom....alway's remembered Annie...xxx
Chopin is my favorite classical composer. No question.
Often Classical used as an umbrella term covering Baroque, classical and Romantic eras.
I enjoy this thread of other people that know what their talking about
The proper term is Western Art music.
After an excruciating 12 hour shift at work, the first thing I did after arriving home was turn on Chopin. It bewilders me how his music can take the edge off such a brutal day
This is what classical music is all about. It makes you remember your loved ones, mums especially. My late mother used to love Chopin, and played him all the time, many of his nocturnes. Always remember when our house in Kew used to ring out to the music. God bless you mum and dad. Always remember the happy times everyone!
For as long as I can remember, my grandmother has loved listening to this song.
the breathing made me super paranoid hearing to this with my head phones alone in a dark room...
+Zahlenteufel1
...What breathing?
+RossoPendente I'm listening to it again. Yeah, I can hear it.
I was working when I was first listening to it. I guess that's why I didn't catch it.
+LindsEntertainment TV For example at 0:29 theres a little breather but there are more
And 2:01 for better
OR 1:35
no way to improve this piece.
timeless.
This is one of my favorite Chopin pieces. I am a composer, and I take enormous inspiration from Chopin. He's truly a one-of-a-kind composer.
This is by far the most beautiful piano piece I’ve heard. The reason it’s called raindrops is because when it’s soft, it’s like gentle raindrops, but when it’s hard it’s like thunder
Weird enough how you enjoy a good classic through various other artistic sources. Halo brought me this song but the feeling in this has always been recognizable in one good way or another.
I studied this piece in my GCSE music class. It will always stay with me. Beautiful.
Love hate and loss is what comes to mind when I hear this music. The culmination of ones life work finally let go as they embrace the finish line... In my opinion this is Chopin's best piece.
It’s weird to think I’ve been coming back to listen to this song at various periods of my lifetime ever since I was about 8-9 years old it’s one of those songs that grow with you
That's great. I also heard this because of Halo and appreciate Bungie for introducing me to this genius work of art. It's now one of my favorite pieces.
After the rain shower passes, and sunshine starts to come through the last of the clouds, a rainbow appears 5:15
dead air at the ending still adds ambience to this song. love it. gucci. swagg. turntup fuh frederic chopin.
Great when you're looking for new music and see one of your old favourites on your recommended videos list, and just let all the great memories flood back in. What a great piece.
Exceptional music. Thanks to Chopin so much for sharing his gift.
One of the so wonderful Music!
Love it this magic and sweet piece
Chopin All time*
Everyone who takes care of hearing this composer starts a travelling for another dimension, a calmy dimension where the only thing in there is you and your thinks
This is so beautiful and relaxing
Great music is not only about lifting you up, or bring you down is about reminding you how everything hovers within the void...magically...
Does it really matter where you first heard this piece from. As long as they like it, it shouldn't matter. Music is universal, it's something we all have in common, no matter your religion, gender, ethnicity, or race. That's the beautiful thing about it. So to those of you who are new to classical music, I welcome you to a whole new world of beauty.
Not quite universal; there are some who teach that music and art distract our minds from God, paradise and hell. I am not a victim of that concept and hate that idea. No, not quite universal.
"God", some religious nuts would really go that far to just listen to nothing?
And, so what if it's Christian music though, or other given religions? Is that the exception, or are some people against even that?
I figured the joy of life and the things in life that bring that joy, and that brings people together, is holy on all on it's own...
Anyways, yeah, atheist speaking here. :p
This is my favorite piece by Chopin. Beautiful.
Pathetique 2nd movement and Raindrop cut straight into my soul. Makes me think there just might be hope for us.
While listening, tear drops.
I discovered Chopin through a game called "Eternal Sonata" He is the main character in a fantasy world forged from his dreams in the final moments of his life, they play his music in between chapters and tell a little bit about his life.
No one gives a fat greasy McWalmart shit about your japanimations you weeb.
By how you talk I'm guessing your parents are either brother and sister or cousins.
i'm playing it right now and it's really amazing. the gameplay is interesting, like every games from tri-crescendo. Plus, i never knew the story of chopin and dear god is it interesting!!! He had an hard life but his music is going through so many emotions!

@@Smarzled More proof that (most) people who listen to classical music aren't as smart as they think they are.
Can't believe the halo 3 trailer back in the day is what kinda got me into classical music, suppose it was alright since I was a kid but still, I'm blessed
This has become one of my favorite piano pieces ever. Beautifully played,"anonymous". And the story behind it makes it all the more special. Really plays into the dark, brooding mood. Then the sun breaks out again.
My favourite one... The feeling this masterpiece gives me gets to me everytime. Truely magnificent x
So, who cares how you found this song, what matters is that no matter how you found it, you liked it enough to go looking for it. Besides most of the people here either know this from the Halo believe campaign or Eternal Sonata. Either way you know because of a video game. Very few people here know this song because they are fans of classical music. So what's all the fighting about, especially when this song is about the struggle to find inner peace when in turmoil.
Jacob, it is a music, not song :-)
Apologies. yes musical piece.
i first heard this song from a mlp story...
Not to be an ass, but i saw Mr. Kushakov correct you and, like a smart person you chose to learn from the correction instead of getting defensive. This is not classical music, it is romantic.
I came looking for rain music
Oh this is beautiful, quiet, calm and lovely. Thank you.
i love the background pic to this song, and i must say that this song is one of my favourites. thanks for posting
I like this constant repition of that one note (G#?). It sounds like the rain
+Saskia H. Yes! the reapeted Ab it's meant to be the drop.
+valerio garofoli Or his heartbeat :)
+Ricardo Gadelha no a raindrop for sure, when hè wrote this piece hè had gotten a dream himself drowning in a lake and with drops falling on his chest in a constant rythym, that rythym you hear there.
DeRode Panda I know :) It was just an interesting interpretation that I read somewhere, saying the it portrayed his despair of waiting in the rain. I liked it :)
Ab? My friend it is only an Ab if you are playing the major part (Db maj) , it becomes a G# when it modulates to it's enharmonic minor (C# min) for the middle section of the piece.☺
When you find true, once in a lifetime love, everything that was once ordinary seems extraordinary. And moments that would normally be forgotten resonate into feelings and memories of a lifetime. Since falling in love with you, days, moments and thoughts take on a whole new meaning and feeling - even a rainy day...especially a rainy day.
Excellent. When I first heard this I was reading something at the same time, and after it was over I thought, "what did I just hear", because at first it is not very impressive to me and I wasn't paying attention so much. I listened to it again and thought it was one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Makes me believe that art can still be good. So seemingly simply, beautiful and powerful.
Its funny how such a simple song can touch the deepest roots of your heart.
Believe.
Halo 3
Wow, this is beautiful
Might be most beaitful piano-music ever made
A love for beautiful compositions brought me here.
Polands gift to the world thank you Poland!
Poland and Austria. Musical wonders.
+CINTERPOL What's wrong with you Polish people and your insecurities? Who goes 'thank you my own country' for some person who had some connection with the country?
Chopin was raised in France for most of his life he had a very romantic notion of his Beloved Poland. I studied the life of Chopin and Poland served as inspiration when he wrote a lot of his music. Thanks to Poland Chopin wrote many of his great works. Therefore Poland deserves praise as well! I am Mexican by the way,
And Marie Curie
It is sad, yet amazing that many are drawn to this intense piece by a video game. Great music transcends any and all boundaries, regardless of perspective.
I dont think it is sad in the slightest. I'm actually glad that something as modern as video game can introduce people to great composers such as Chopin
Justin Ruark What in the hell is sad about it...
Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem
Probably the best piece of music I've ever heard.
I didn't know this piece of music existed. I just came across by chance. Its absolutely wonderful. Thank you for posting it. I would suggest listening to 'Rain Without Music'
on another tab, at the same time. I did just that, and its sublime.
Jack Frost yes!
Beauty performance, quiet, calm and lovely. Thanks
Great way to relax!! Love his music
It's just... You know. Perfect.
I don't know if this is the original but if it is, I can hear deep breathing and sniffing at times, adds to the emotion of the song big time, it's like his heart is aching and he's crying as he's playing or just been crying right before.
lol gg
A very pleasant discovery.thank you.
this is one of the best piano pieces i've ever heard!
I believe back in those times, it's all you really had and when people said you were terrible, it inspired you to do better and perfect it so it sounded more serene. It was all about that sense of personal achievement. You couldn't feel it, but you knew it was there.
I'm learning this!
No one is gonna get this reference, but i'm surprised Vincent played this perfectly to Octavia.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who appreciated the fabulous irony of this.
I don't know why but musical notes are Always in my head, when I walk , when I run, when I cycle. Whenever I don't have to think about anything else I think about music and notes.
this is music
No... really?
no this is pizza
No, this is Patrick
this is SPARTAAAAAAAA
dumb enough to be hilarious.
I'm listening to this when Washington is in the middle of a storm and heavy wind :-)
🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄💤💤💤💤💤💤💤😴😴😴😴😴😯😦😦😦I went to sleep
A beautiful rendition throughout.
Eternal Sonata, yes. Beautiful...hell yes. One of the most amazing compositions I've ever heard.
Eternal Sonata...
My culture brought me here
Well, fransua, you don't look like Polish.
Sömürgeci köpek herşeyi kendisinin sanır. Polonya Avusturya Almanya Fransa Ispanya rotasinin izleri Chopinin kalbinde. Yagmurlu bir Mallorca gunu, ailesi uzaklardayken...
SO BEAUTIFUL EVERY TIME I HEAR IT IT'S AWESOME
Une de mes préférées en musique classique. Je me sens comme ce doux pianotement de pluie et parfois orageux.
I'm pretty sure all the people here saying that this was made for Halo, will never play the beautiful game that taught us about Frederic Chopin's life. That game was Eternal Sonata, one of the best JRPGs ever created.
I loved that game so much...
I remember that game!! It was actually so fun!! Although it was unknown (I'm pretty sure) i enjoyed it so much :D
me too. i heard about the componist before, but i was a fan after the eternal sonata game.
I'm so glad eternal sonata exists
One of my favorite games. A love letter to music.
Perfection when this was played in Prometheus
I here ya...my dads a music teacher and has been for years. Through him i've come to love classical music like this and play various instruments.
I love the speed at which this is played. I have heard faster versions and I don't think they quite hit the sweet spot. I also love the emphasis and weight on certain notes. It really gives room for the atmosphere this wonderful piece creates to shine through.
I love this song so much. They have a game called Eternal Senata. Trust me it is the bomb. ;-)
Going through comments just to find someone giving a shout out to eternal sonata, and it's you! Yay you've made my day, was one of my favourite games, made even more awesome by chopins music
Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" end title.
I'm not the only one :)
regnartsstranger Me too.
Same
Curse that movie. Because of that movie, I can imagine those aliens everytime I listen to this prelude.
had this song stuck in my head for a while after re-watching Big-O. Glad to finally know the name and composer.
Can feeling the dripping Raindrops.
makes me cry 😢
I am here because of the Battle Royale trailer.
But this was also played in the background when the Joker killed the Electricutionor in Arkham Origins.
It was also used in a quite amazing and intricate advertisement for Halo 3 titled "Believe"
Ohh shit
I loved that contrast of this song and Kiriyama shooting up everyone
such a serene song:)
enjoy the complexities and wonders in the music! ahhhh how beautiful....
Har!
I captured similar pictures of raindrops on my phone camera, this last summer.
And Chopin. Exquisitely interpreted by none other than ... Her Supreme Majesty Valentina Lisitsa!
Oh joy!
Happy Christmas to y'all!
I love this song, so relaxing
I was brought here by my fingers so my ears can hear beautiful music like this.. music sounds better when I'm baked though.. I can listen more deeply.
You said it , girl .
I think your challenge is to be able to listen deeply without always the crutch of drugs. You can.
Your dreams have good taste
This video was used on Paul G. Allen's page on facebook to close on my posts regarding the death of his mother. May she rest in peace. Thank you for feeling into making this video. It conveys feeling effectively.
Eternal Sonata brought me to loving Chopin’s pieces.
