fantastic playing!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy it. 🙂
I like Op 16 #4 ...simply gorgeous and the power of Op 11 #4 also the ending of Op 42 #2...thank-you.
Excellent choices. Thanks for your feedback!
Outside the list I really like op. 11 no 10
Op 11 no 9 I learned when I was a kid)
Great choices! Thanks for your input. :)
Beautiful. Thanks. ❤ number 1.
Thanks for your vote!
May I recommend a few miniatures? My absolute favourite are the op. 45 played in its entirety, each piece is very short but so telling in its own way. The first one is just gorgeous. Then the op 16 no 3 is also on my top as well as op 11 no 13 and 15. They may not be exactly 1 minute long but they still occupy not more than 2 pages of music.
It’s incredible how much he was able to say in a short span. Cheers!
Thanks for the suggestions. They are all great little pieces. But I don't see any Op. 45 - did you mean Op. 48 preludes?
@@JonathanGeffnerPianist no problems! Op. 45 is a set of three poems “Trois Morceux” (three pieces): Feuillet d’album, poem fantasique and prelude! Here’s a go to recording by the great Stanislav Neuhaus ua-cam.com/video/UlWlcu7iT9Q/v-deo.htmlsi=hxQQ-YTwes2qwCE9
:)
I'm playing op. 11 no. 15 right now. I love it, it's not very difficult to play but its so light and beautiful (also its very underrated)
@@JonathanGeffnerPianist resending because I think my previous message got blocked for containing a link. The op. 45 is a set of three pieces: feuillet d’album, poeme fantasique, prelude. I reccomend S. Neuhaus recording!
@@bartoldo5898 Thank you for clarifying. I'm not familiar with those so I'll have to check them out!
I admire Scriabin, but his music always gave me the impression that it was improvised on the spot. Maybe because my feeble mind can't see the grand scheme!
It's true that a lot of his compositions sound improvisatory but they sound like great improvisations, to me at least, so I don't feel that it is a drawback.
@@JonathanGeffnerPianist I don't either. Fortunately, I don't always need to understand something to enjoy it's beauty.
@@davidjohnson6553 I feel the same. I'm not sure how much I understand any of the incredible compositions of many composers but I love and marvel at their beauty.
Lovely playing! Out of those I would have to pick the Op. 37 No. 2. It just so perfectly encapsulates the style of Scriabin's middle period with its lush harmonies. But I think my absolute favourite would probably be Feuillet d'Album Op. 45 No. 1 which is a very charming and almost jazzy little piece.
Yes, there are many Scriabin pieces that have jazz-influenced chords and melody lines, and Op. 37 No. 2 is very notable for that. Funny that you mention it because last year when I was shopping for a piano I was in a piano store and played this piece on a piano I was trying out - a salesman said to me, "You're a great jazz pianist!" I'm not sure he believed me when I replied, "That's not jazz; it's Scriabin." I need to check out Op. 45 No.1; thanks for the suggestion.
The D minor Op. 11- I used to look at the music for this, which I inherited from my teacher, and wonder how all the rhythms fitted together.
Glad you liked it!
So nice that youve gotten back to piano. How long did you stop playin? Id love to hear more of your story.
I have an M.M. in piano from Manhattan School of Music but played very little until recent years. I'm a ventriloquist/filmmaker/screenwriter and a few other things. I don't want to bore you with too much of my story.
@JonathAhh its interesting. Im 62. Taught myself piano at age 60. Lovinnn it

@@michellemonet4358 How nice! Glad you are enjoying learning the piano. 🙂
@@JonathanGeffnerPianist thanks. Im writing a Musical. My Bucket List dream.
@@michellemonet4358 Wonderful! Are you writing the book and music both?
these are beautiful. i can't find the sheet music for the last one (prelude in F# major op 47 no2). could you possibly share a link to that?
I can't share links here but you can buy the Dover edition of the complete preludes and etudes by Scriabin. Currently listed on Amazon for $19 USD and you'll get ALL his preludes and etudes.
Which year is this piano? My favorite is Op.16 no.4, so simple, yet so haunting harmonies!
Yes, such a touching little piece!
