Thanks for the tips! We have 3 booths at a local "vendor mall". The vendor mall is a mix of antiques, garage sale-type stuff, and overstock. It's not nearly as nice as the place you use!
We mostly use our booths for retail arbitrage items that aren't a good fit for eBay. This is how we do our merchandising:
Booth 1: Toys, board games, video games, movies.
Booth 2: Home goods, sporting goods, automotive, etc.
Booth 3: Clothing, handbags, hats, etc.
It's been great for us because some of the stuff sells fast there that would sit forever on eBay. Some things just don't have the margin to cover shipping and fees. That isn't a factor in the booths.

Great question! We make a "nice" check each month usually. I would say it equals to a car payment most months and we've had WOW months. BUT... we have basically ZERO cost of goods. We do storage units so what goes in our antique/flea market booth are things we wouldn't put on eBay and that costs us pennies if you calculated. For us, the work is nice because it gets us some socialization. :) We have talked to others who struggle and I get how it isn't the best for those who have to pick up the inventory individually.

Love you videos! I also am a eBay seller with an antique booth. I find the booth is a great place to sell items I cannot move online or don't want to have to explain defects, etc. The booth isn't a big money maker by any means, but still is a good source of extra income.

I used to have an antique mall booth. I found it too labor intensive for the return I got. The extra stuff I don’t want to sell on eBay I just blow out by having a garage sale.

I’ve had a booth for about five years now. I don’t make a killing at it, but what I really enjoy is that we co-op working the register and I work eight hours a month and it’s really fun to visit with people and I’ve learned a lot about product from other collectors.

Booths are a good fit for items you can't sell on Ebay. I have had booths and even had a store before where I rented out the booths. Its hard. Some things you may want to look for are the price of the booths, how much foot traffic the store gets and the overall look of the store. If it looks piled up and unorganized I have found people pass by without looking. Some pointers I always gave to my renters......Keep it well stocked, bring in new items regularly (new customers to the store will see the items you have as exciting while regular customers get bored seeing the same items over and over), also move items around, it helps keep it looking fresh and maybe put something where someone didn't see it. On the good side it gives you a place to sell items you haven't had any luck selling elsewhere or items to big to sell on ebay, or like you said don't want to list on ebay. My wife and I are looking to do another booth at some point but they are hard to find in our area.

I opened a booth the 20th of September. With a goal of doing $600 in sales per month. On target for that so far.
Loaded it with character glasses, records, framed posters and books. Most items are $3.00 to $10 the framed items are $15 to $150. The majority of the items are $5.00 records. I sold a large nightmare before Christmas snow globe for $100.
Mainly opened it for the records and the glassware and items I didn’t want to list on EBay. currently bringing new inventory once a week

Everything shutdown and I had to accept the loss after collecting some very cool fixtures which are now holding Ebay merch in my garage. I do an indoor flea market 3 days a week (booths stay set up year round). I'm in the process this weekend of setting up a 3rd booth. I get about $300 a week out of the 2. I have 1 with media (mostly records), one with toys, and the newest is going to be beauty/whatever. I'm hoping the newest will add at least $100-150 a week. I recently started buying storage units and a lot of the items I take in are things either not worth selling on ebay or items I don't feel like dealing with. Records I sell for eBay prices without the fees and shipping.
I'd say 70% of it is pure profit items since I sell the better items from lots/units on eBay. Then the other items are thrift store finds. I don't think about my money as "per hour" since I mostly go to socialize a bit lol. Working at home so much gets lonely and we have some great people at our market that keep me entertained.

1.The location of the antique mall matters and how much traffic they receive.
    2. How often they advertise
    3. How much your booth rent is
    4. Your location of your booth in the mall.
    5. Your items/ prices
    6. How often do you get paid
    7. Is your booth an attention grabber, if it's clean or cluttered matters.
    8. Does the store monitor security to help avoid theft?

Many of the booths in my area have a monthly rental rate of $250. That’s a lot of product that you have to sell to break even, and that doesn’t count the 10-16% they take out on your sales. I just love to shop for stuff though! It’s like a scavenger hunt, which makes it so much fun for me.

I’ve had a booth for a year... grew out of an estate sale that literally pushed things out the door and ... now what to do with it all!?!? I’m pretty ignorant on what to look for .. I’m at a real ‘antique’ store ... so, ... I’d buy things that were old that I liked ... I love shopping but the location of my booth doesn’t have high traffic and as much as I’ve tried to make it pretty and inviting... and good ... I barely make rent... Covid crushed the first 6mths, but even still... I’m losing a couple hundred every month... and a lot of time. I don’t work, husband supports this but it’s not paying back... but, dang it... I don’t want to fail!!!

The interesting comparison to the $240 profit you showed at the end is how much the antique booth owners made from you... The monthly fees and percentage of sales. I expect that the person making the most money is the owners of the antique stores.

Some areas have very high booth rents. We have to also work work days. If we can't do our days we have to pay out the days. The pay out is $25 for a half day and usually you will get 2-4 full days a booth. The work can be hard. Cases need to be opened and locked and items need to be carried to the counter. Customers need to be monitored. Sometimes there are no customers. It is hard work to make a profit.

I think it comes down to knowing your market, if there is a local demand for the type of items you carry it would be worth while to get a local booth. If you deal in items above value or outside of the scope of the local buyers than it doesn't make sense. We do well with our higher end items at legit antique shows as opposed to flea markets, and do well with lower end items at flea markets, it wouldn't make sense to bring those higher end items to the flea market as the buyers are not there for those types and vice versa, you wouldn't do well with flea market items at a higher end legit antique show. Just my two cents. Thanks for the great content!

How do customers every make it past the first floor of the mall? Your booths were especially nice. Looks like someone knocked over your book stand and broke it. I barely break even in my booth, so the stuff that sells out of it are just as well off if I were to have burned it. End of this month im pulling out.(lease is up) Maybe my area stinks(Very large city actually), nothing sells even when i put a huge sale. (I put a 50% off everything this month to try to move product before I move out and still nothing is moving). If you are seeking to start renting a booth my best advice is to Try to walk around talk to other booth owners and see how they do and what sells and doesn't. I spoke to 2 others at my mall recently and they also aren't making anything, if not just enough to make the rent there. I'd rather spend the monthly bill on sourcing more items or renting a space to do eBay out of, since in in an apartment and have no garage or cabin it's all in my office.

Needful Things????? There is one in Charlestown WV. Don't know if they are connected. I don't do a booth around here. They cost to much. They are getting $129.00 a month and 10% commission on a 6'x8' spot. That is more then a 10'x10' storage unit around my parts. The real money to be made in booths is in the building and renting out the spaces.

I do most of my sourcing at auctions and end up with a lot of extra items that aren’t a good fit for eBay. Would love to have another outlet for them but the booths seem risky.

I wonder if where you live should also be given consideration when making a decision about opening an antique booth. It has been a long time since I had an "antique" booth. In Iowa, antiques were coveted. In Oregon, not so much. Times may have changed regarding the areas where antiques are most popular, but I am guessing, where you live still matters.

We have a dilemma in our home. We have an antique booth. We pay $140 for booth rent. Typically we sell around $300 a month there. After rent, commission and fees, we profit around $100 a month. I don't feel it's worth it at all. My husband feels it is worth it because we can sell things there that we couldn't sell on eBay AND we use the booth fee as a tax right off expense. Who is right? Close it? Or use it as a tax write off and profiting the $100? Thanks! Angie's Oddities LLC
