Hello martyn. I was at the field at 12.00 and Barry k and i had the field to our self. Not to cold and gentle breeze., 9 nice flights and away by 15.30. Hope you are keeping well.
I amazed at how well the P68 flew with one broken prop! Even more amazed that you were out in that weather flying, it's been -5 Celsius here Ontario Canada with a bit of snow and it's way too cold for me lol your friend Marty from Canada 🇨🇦 🛩 🛩
Hi Marty - Good to hear from you - You were amazed - as was I !! - turns out I did not a little but of damage and the Plastic motor mount vibrated lose, the motor was rubbing up on the plastic cowl and melted a small hole into it !, I removed the cowl, glued the motor mount back into lace and then put the cowl back.. just waiting for the new Props to arrive , it was the Wind that really had the cold bite - as it picked up and got stronger I decided to call it a morning, go home and get warm.......Hope all is well with you, Martyn
Hi Adam , It turns out I did not a little but of damage, the Plastic motor mount vibrated lose, the motor ended up rubbing up on the plastic cowl and melted a small hole into it !, I removed the cowl, glued the motor mount back into place and then put the cowl back.. just waiting for the new Props to arrive - I guess I was rushing due to the cold and did not do the normal checks, I even knew it was not sounding quite right but did nothing about it !!.. still I am looking forward to the maiden +1 and everything working as it should - small aircraft but I think it will be fun - will thrown it a round a little to see how it does next time, Hope you and Hyde are both well, Martyn
Hi Sean, Had I known about the broken prop blade I would not have flown it - I guess it was gold and I was rushing so did not notice - I know it was making a funny sound in the air but for some strange reasons took no notice of it as it was flying OK... I know better and should have landed.. still all's well that ends well - slight repair of the motor mount - it vibrated lose, and new prop, we will do better for the maiden+1. Stay safe and well - Thanks for watching and leaving your comments, always look forward to them - Martyn
Hi Gazza - given it only had 5 prop blades it was great - I guess on 6 it will not make so much noise and handle even better.. Hope all is well with you - Martyn
@@FlankerTankerhi martyn the addiction won again I’ve got the blue one arriving tomorrow from wheelspin and I got a couple extra props for just in case lol I must come to a desision to sell some as I got quite a lot in box’s that need putting together and flying but I look at them and think nah but maybe in the new year I was thinking of selling all my h king warbirds plus couple other makes the Trojan 800mm like yours and one jet f86 from motion it’s same size as them all but I will see lol , I don’t know about electronics going slow in the cold I practically seize up with the cold 🥶, stay safe, G🇬🇧
You flew it well Martyn. Didn’t they include a free set of props as RC Castle did with mine? Anyhow you got the plane up & flew it great. You will have a better experience with the big Twin Otter. Keep warm bro.
Hi Noel - Oh come on !! Spare Props in the UK - does not happen.. it did well considering it was damaged, Next time It it will do even better with all six prop blades in place LOL... but your right its a good little flying machine - I guess you are going to bet the Big one before me - looking forward to the Video - Stay safe and well - Martyn
Hi Ironmover - yes it does look like a twin otter - I have and fly the Horizon Hobby one, also got my eye on a much bigger one for 2024... Hope all is well , Martyn
Hi Jeff - It was me being stupid - this is why I left it for the Christmas special video - working title "What not to do with RC Aircraft" ..LOL... but it did well and will do even better with a good prop and working landing gear - just waiting for delivery of the new prop.. Keep safe and well Martyn
Just got mine through als hobbies . Unfortunately , the right aileron is malfunctioning . Will have to take it back . Now i’m worried about its ground handling if its that crap on winter grass surfaces . Wonder if retrofitting it with umx timber wheels will make it better?
@@FlankerTankerThanks . Maiden her today and it flys smooth although it needs a summer grass conditions to get off the ground . Had to hand launch it like my viper. Methinks also the battery needs to be a bit more generous in terms of space
yeah blood thinners make winter temps no fun!! you freeze your ass off where before you wouldn't even notice the cold!! wind in the teens you were pushing this one Martyn!! and a sail plane in that wind i don't blame you for not trying although you could have probably just held it nose into the wind kicked in the power and let go!!
Keith - I had not even thought about that I put it down to my weight loss, thinking that was the reason I was feeling the cold more - but I guess it is that and the Blood Thinners i am taking, I was just too cold after three flight to do any more - I have been told the wind calmed down in the afternoon but I had places to be and things to do, I think you are right regarding the swift It would have taken to the sky with no problems at all - LOL , Keith I hope all is well with you, Martyn
@@FlankerTankeryeah i can tell from experience with them Martyn i'm on them for blood clots and boy did notice the cold after right after starting the damn things!!
Indeed but I also think it was how I did things on the first attempt to take off - pure madness on my part - the cold weather is also not kind on my hands and feet LOL.... cheers..
Flew the maiden plus 3 more successful flights today. Very pleased with how well it flies. Very stable and is a real floater for how small it is.
I am looking forward to more flights with it and all six prop blades working ..LOL...
Wow flying with 5 props. Still had a good flight with the cold wind. 🫡
If only I paid more attention to the noise it was making Chris - still all fixed and ready to fly with 6 blades rather than 5 LOL.. Martyn
