Hi Guy Great to see yall just wanted to let yall know that my shoulder surgery went well on Tuesday I am back at home and benge watching the best foodie vlogs out there see yall in the next one
Aloha Terry Elliot! So glad to hear your surgery went well, hope hazel is doing well too!🙏🏼💞 mahalo for watching, supporting and showing us plenty aloha 🤙🏻
"I have no idea what this." [Takes a big bite] - I appreciate the spirit of adventure. Also, if a place has onion hopia decent chance they have another flavor like ube.
Surprise you replied anh Felix/em Amanda (Put a ring on that Felix!). lol. Here’s my mahalo…… Watched like 20 of your videos the last 3 months. Great content and chemistry. Visited Hawaii with the family 2 months ago. You guys helped us tremendously! Cam on. 🙏🏼…. Your mom is so sweet, like you….. your sister is funny. Loves her big brother (I got a lil sister too)…….. Jolene’s market was our favorite. Cheese melts off the hook! Thank you guys for making our week long Hawaii vacay first class!
Love watching your videos and seeing some of the places tat I used to go to and new ones as well. Oahu born and raised here, but had to leave Hawaii almost 7 years ago - was getting too hard to make it there.
There’s a place out there that was recommended for us to try by friends (they happen to know the owners). It is called “a place to eat”. It’s been our our list of places to try since we’ve last made a trip out to the islands.
Like you honest take on your local eats. It validates what is great vs soso. Love Amanda's facial expression with the onion roll that in itself is an honest review. I almost thought she was going to spit it out into the bag.
Always enjoy your videos. Probably not something on my foodie plans when I come there in a few weeks, but appreciate the effort and your honest thoughts.
Hamburger stew very good in the fall/winter here in Alabama.Adobo very easy to make along with roast pork, No ahi belly here in Alabama but they sell ahi steaks. We used to eat pianomo rolls, pan de sold filled with coconut, butter rolls. It’s like a jelly roll to describe it.👍😉😁
I love the faces Amanda made when she ate the onion hopia. That adobo didn't look like adobo. When my wife Joselyn and I crave Filipino food, we go to the Chinatown Maunakea Market turo turo spots. Or if we have a car, we go to Max's of Manila by Costco. You're so right though, home cooked Filipino food is better than restaurant. I'm lucky that my wife is an expert Filipina cook. The only other Filipino restaurant we like is in the Pike Place Market in Seattle; they make a superior salmon sinigang. Thank you for the great videos! You make our day!
Awww Kert! Mahalo for the aloha on our videos🤙🏻 your awesome comment made our day too! We hope we can go to a Filipino potluck soon for some Ono Filipino home cooking😋
Closer.to airport is that little mall by Enterprise rental car on Nimitz. You got Joe's Cafe and Christine's for Fililino food. Bale is there, a Korean BBQ place and even a subway.
Talked with a COKE guy. He said the (new)COKE ZERO cans is made from a different place. But they still make the old COKE ZERO in the 16.9 oz or 2 liter. Just bring the 2 liter jug with you in a SAM's CLUB CUP if they still make it. Keeps the ice and drink colder.
Ohh I passed by this area in Sand Island once. I was wondering what was over there. The selection looks good for Ronnie's but your review makes me wonder now lol. And pianomos are my childhood.
Hi Amanda and Felix the pink filling in the balintawak is a bread pudding. And the onion roll is called hopia, every Filipino bakery have their own versions of hopia, kamehameha bakery makes the best hopia. Had 4 kinds of hopia sweet onion, mongo bean, pork and ube.
That’s what I love and appreciate about you guys, always giving your honest reviews! Oh yessss, I’m a Filipina and those desserts are always my weakness. Cannot wait for your Filipino Food Reviews! You guys gotta checkout Valerio’s bakery for them gooood Filipino desserts.
Felix glad to see you're getting better! Amanda love your facial epxressions on the onion pastry : ) Does the balintawak bread have anything to do with filipino martial arts? Because there is a stick fighting style called balintawak escrima?
another great video! OHMYGAWD, I remember my grandma used to always get the jelly roll from Jessie's Bakery when we went grocery shopping. That was one of my favorite things to eat as a kid. Thanks for mentioning Jessie's! Going to have to stop there when I'm home to get some desserts! Love you guys as always and it's so good to see Felix on the mend!
They make an ahi barrito that was soooo ono. Was only made once in a while. Their lilikoi bread pudding is the best!! Amanda…..Your face after eating that onion thingy was classic. 😂😂 I like the ‘healthy foods’ idea. I miss the hot food bar at Down to Earth and Whole Foods. Haven’t been to either for a couple months, but had good selections.
Hi guys, love the latest video. I was wondering if you ever considered doing a video on your local McDonald’s to see how they differ from other McDonald’s in other states? I know I like going to other McDonald’s when I travel to see what’s on the menu that we don’t have in our area. Just a thought, thanks guys!
The only differences are that Hawaii McD have: 1) Saimin 2) eggs and Spam with rice platter 3) eggs, Portuguese sausage and Spam with rice platter 4) pies are deep fried a) apple pies (default) b) Haupia or Taro pies ( on a rotational basis... Never sold at the same time) 5) every year for like about a month ONLY in late July/early August is their McD Teri sandwich (which is bomb by the way!) that's a 1/4 lb burger with lettuce, mayonnaise, tomato slice, and the burger dipped in their Teriyaki sauce. strange, but the McTeri burger and local Jack in the Box's Teri burger (not as deluxe as McD and sold daily)... the teriyaki sauce tastes the same... 6) sometimes I hear that pineapple slices are given out at the Waikiki McD.. never saw that offered at any other McD on Oahu.. don't know if outer island McDs in resort areas do this same... 7) for a while, they sold Kona blend coffee, but think due to the high cost for Kona coffee, they went back to 100 percent Columbian coffee. All of these local items had to be approved by McD corporate before the Hawaii McD could sell them.
The ice tea is different too. Probably a locally sourced tea, it has a floral taste vs mainland ice tea, which tastes like water. Love the Mickey D’s tea here.
Wow the look on Felix's face when Amanda called him fat lip's was so funny. I would like to make a suggestion when you guys talk about the area or city the restaurant is located I think a little pop up map should show up on the screen. Yes don't need to show the exact street but just the general location. Especially if it's your first time on the island and you don't know where Chinatown is or the north shore. Other than that your videos are great. If I know that someone is going to ohau I tell them to watch your channel.
Balitawak is one of my favorite! Matter of fact I like all their pastries. When you guys eat Filipino food you gotta eat Dinuguan, Squid Guisado, Pinakbet, and Sinigang.😍
How about the Waiahole Poi Factory and Uncle Clays House of Pure Aloha for the BEST shave ice. Or Kua Aina in Haleiwa great grilled Mahi-mahi sandwich 😋
Amanda’ eyes rolled all the way backI like that, it must be good😆. I love Roll Cake, but never try Pianomo Roll before. Definitely will try and see if I will take it with me to the “Silver City”. Thanks Amanda&Felix😘😘
Amanda did this emoji 😝 with the onion roll. 😅 It's an acquired taste. I like it as a snack, but then again I like onions. Onions on burgers, steaks, poke, omlets, everything! And it's great with the mask mandate-onion breath.😷
Love all your videos. You guys are so cute together. Felix looks slimmer. One episode he said he doesn’t have much appetite. Hope you are feeling better now Felix. Look forward to your next video. Would you guys do a video on Omakase there?
Ronnies not my favorite there are several other spots there that aren’t bad like Lunch Box and Pennys! I like your honest reviews!! Keep it up 👍 I look forward to your videos!!
Lunch box is great for breakfast spam and musubis, breakfast plates and lunch bentos. Lots and.bagels used to be there till they moved next to hcc on Dillingham years.ago
I first heard and went to Jesse's Bake Shop when they were next door to Star Market (now Times Supermarket) in the Kamehameha Shopping Center back in the early 1980s. They have a lot of their products sold at supermarkets . Haven't eaten recently though since they moved to their present place like a good 20+ (?) years. That small strip mall when it was built had the 7-11 Store on the DH end before they built their own building directly across the street.Balintawak and Hopia rolls are sold at Kam Bakery, Nanding's, Valerio Tropical Bake Shop.. even though I'm first Gen Filipino, I had the same facial impression like you Amanda as I was 🤔ng how can this be a snack/dessert? Balintawak to me (only tried at Kam Bakery) was ok, just didn't float my boat.. but better tasting when really fresh.
Wow we had no idea jesses had such a long history! We love buying jesses when we they have them at Times! Im glad im not the only one who makes that face when eating onion hopia!😂
@@AmandaFelixEats After Jesse's Bakery left that place next to Star Market, Alfredo's Bakery took over...then after a few years, Alfredo's Bakery moved to a sketchy area on North King St. just DH side of the Shell Gas Station that is located at Pua Lane and North King St. Alfredo's Bakery there lasted a few years and haven't heard anything about them since... wonder if they lost revenue because of its location and shortage of parking that they chose...
Nice video! I’d like to see places that have tasty vegetable sides. As I mom I have to factor in giving my son balanced meals, even when we eat out. It seems hard to find here unless we eat upscale. Maybe because the vegetables are imported so not as fresh here and also expensive? So far the only places my son likes the vegetables are steakhouses and Sxy Szechuan has stir fried vegetables, green beans, and cucumber salad that he likes. He’ll also eat eda mame when we eat at ramen places. He also likes the salads at Tommy Bahama. I need more options to mix it up for him though so he’ll grow up loving vegetables as much as meat
Exactly like u claim, this is a foodie adventure and it is all good and fun! It’s not all gonna b to your prime, and we get it!👍🏿😀 would you consider doing a “ roughing it in Hawaii” kinda food adventure? Like what would u do in a power outtage situation of days? Or camping at the beach? I know Felix’s arm is out of commission right now, but as he heals up… something to consider? You guys are doing an awesome job! Keep it up! Mahalo!💕😀👍🏿
Any other suggestions near the airport or near the Costco or on the way to Waikiki. I saw the Joe’s Grill video and would have liked to visit Mitsu-Ken, but I need a sit down spot for my ohana. When we visit Maui, our tradition is to hit up the Costco, first, and then eat at Da Kitchen. I hope Da Kitchen bounces back. We would like to do the same in Oahu I heard of the Highway Inn Kaka’ako. Any other places like Highway Inn? Thanks for all you do!
LOL! Y'all are like dessert and sugar vampires! On another note...There could be a food truck or mom and pop joint in Honolulu that if all they had on the menu was mac salad and gravy I would go there. Because mac salad. And gravy all ovah! Mahalo y'all.
🤣🤣🤣Everything looked good up until that onion 🧅 face😫. Yea that adobo looked dry I was bought up cooking chicken adobo normally I would used the ends n pieces or wings which you gotta watch when adding vinegar it can get real strong. Anyway yup Jessie’s all the way👍👍👍👍
Love the music on this vlog. Lots questions: what is Adobe and what does ono mean. My hubby's comin hm with our dinner. (Gd thing cuz your vlogs always make me hungry.) Amanda I love green tea too. I like passionfruit in mine. Walk in peace y'all.
@@AmandaFelixEats I did have an ono dinner--ground beef pizza. Kinda plain I know, but I have to watch what types of foods I eat to avoid another esophageal ulcer. Thanks for answering my questions. Safeguard your health.
Great video. Aaaaaaand, since you asked for a place we'd like you to go eat at ..... umm ... you already know what I'm going to say. lol. But besides that obvious one that you already know, Here are a few others: Try out Paradise Poke next to Nuuanu Starbucks. I'm guessing you guys already know about it since you said you go to that Starbucks. But I really like their morning onigiri and their poke bowls. I heard their garlic shrimp is good too. I don't know if it is open these days, but Plantation Tavern in Kapolei is really good. I love their Kale salad, but they have awesome locally sourced dishes. There is also a place across from the Kapolei Consolidated Theaters called Kalapawai Cafe and Deli that is pretty ono. Also not sure if you've visited Banan or not. Probably did, right? I'm guessing you did, but if not, that place is good. Oh! And have you gone to Thelma's in Waipahu area? You were talking about Filipino food and theirs is pretty bomb. Have you done a Teddy's video yet? I think you did Fresh Catch too, right? Was it the one in Kaneohe? I also heard good things about Gotz Grindz in Kaneohe off the main road there. There are also three cat cafe's on the island. Two in the city and one in Kailua. Actually, there might be more, but those are the three I know of. Might be fun to show some cute cats and a few nice drinks or small-kine snacks. In SALT I think there are also a few more places you haven't checked out. 9Bar is my favorite coffee place on the island, so I'd check them out. Their scuffins are really good too, and they have some nice scones and baked goods. I think they have a scuffin bowl or something like that. And tacos too. Hank's Haute Dogs are good too. Okay, that's all my suggestions ... since you asked. ;-)
Mahalo Mark for always having endless Ono food suggestions! We got your much anticipated video filmed and loaded, coming soon! 🤤 Kalapawai! I’ve gone to the ones in Kailua, always Ono! 🤤 also banan used to be our go to when they were in Kapahulu when they just started, but since the closest location is now Waikiki we haven’t gone 😰 but love their stuff😋 We’ve been hearing about thelmas, we hope we can make it out there for some Ono Filipino food soon! Thanks for the coffee rec too! When we’re in the area we always try to find some local coffee shops💞
what do you eat at home? what do you cook? What is home life like with you two? What do you eat that gives you ideas to somewhere or do somethngs that takes you there? And who's the cook?
Totally enjoyed your honest comments about the food today. I agree with all your recommendations. I just don't think the onion pastry is meant to be sweet, but savory instead so you gotta be prepared for that!
I want to thank Amanda for really making me lmfao...I needed a good laugh today!!! And I am just curious...you post Yelp links but you don't have any reviews on Yelp? You guys would get the Elite rating and get to go to the free Yelp events where you get free food and if you do it for 5 years, you become Elite Gold and get to periodically go to the free expensive dinners.
Oh no that ahi tuma did look so so dry 😐 sorry that wasn’t too good. I love pastries and bakery items 😍 omg I wanted to reach into my iPad to steal that Filipino cake lol
Never heard of Ronnies. Guys you were not too far away from Penny's Drive In, you would of got better food at similar price, tip i didn't care for the mac salad it was sweet, sugar type sweet i think they put sugar in it.
I'd like to.see healthier foods. Not just salad places, but fresh cooked, veggies and organic. After many years of plate lunches and hawaiian food, it caught up.with me suffering blocked arteries and 2 seperate stent sugeries in 10 yrs..
Pianomo roll is more well known as pianono roll. I’m like Amanda, I can eat the whole roll if you don’t take it away from me. My sister used to make it all the time.
So nice to see Felix driving and getting his arm stronger

Amanda rocking a Fleetwood Mac shirt. That's my era of music. Now I'm in love with Amanda.😋

The pink bread you ate we call it pan de regla. Dunno y it’s called I’m that but that’s what is have know it as.
You guys should have gone to Lunch Box, mochiko chicken is the bomb.
Gotta try them out! 👌
Love being frugal ..thanks
Exactly like u claim, this is a foodie adventure and it is all good and fun! It’s not all gonna b to your prime, and we get it!👍🏿😀 would you consider doing a “ roughing it in Hawaii” kinda food adventure? Like what would u do in a power outtage situation of days? Or camping at the beach? I know Felix’s arm is out of commission right now, but as he heals up… something to consider? You guys are doing an awesome job! Keep it up! Mahalo!💕😀👍🏿
Mahalo for the suggestions!
I was waiting for Amanda to say
there isn't enough gravy 🤘😋😂
Never enough! 😅
We would like to do the same in Oahu
I heard of the Highway Inn Kaka’ako. Any other places like Highway Inn?
Thanks for all you do!
Hey Amanda/Felix, I think you may have done this before but how about Hawaiian snacks/drinks??😎🤙🏻
We've done Crack seed but not local drinks..🤔
Ummm... the onion roll is not a dessert 🤣. It is a savory pastry. Great video again guys!
😅😅😣
LOL! Y'all are like dessert and sugar vampires! On another note...There could be a food truck or mom and pop joint in Honolulu that if all they had on the menu was mac salad and gravy I would go there. Because mac salad. And gravy all ovah! Mahalo y'all.
We keep forgetting to ask for gravy all ova!🤦🏻♀️ mahalo for the aloha on every video Robert Leslie🤙🏻
What about a video on half price happy hour food?
🤣🤣🤣Everything looked good up until that onion 🧅 face😫. Yea that adobo looked dry I was bought up cooking chicken adobo normally I would used the ends n pieces or wings which you gotta watch when adding vinegar it can get real strong. Anyway yup Jessie’s all the way👍👍👍👍
Apparently that onion thing wasn't suppose to be a dessert 😂
You would think those Filipino pastry rolls would have PIA.
…because was piaNOMO
🤣‼️
😂😂😂
Love the music on this vlog. Lots questions: what is Adobe and what does ono mean. My hubby's comin hm with our dinner. (Gd thing cuz your vlogs always make me hungry.) Amanda I love green tea too. I like passionfruit in mine. Walk in peace y'all.
So glad you enjoyed the music! Adobo is a Filipino cooking marinating style! And Ono means delicious! Hope you have an Ono dinner!!🤤🤙🏻
@@AmandaFelixEats I did have an ono dinner--ground beef pizza. Kinda plain I know, but I have to watch what types of foods I eat to avoid another esophageal ulcer. Thanks for answering my questions. Safeguard your health.
Cho Cho lips? Enough said but funny I heard that from hanabada days the deserts looks good ✌
😂😂😂 yes, throwback to hanabada days!
Btw if you like gumbo - try Howard's on Wednesdays only.
Mahalo for the suggestion! 🤙
Great video. Aaaaaaand, since you asked for a place we'd like you to go eat at ..... umm ... you already know what I'm going to say. lol.
But besides that obvious one that you already know, Here are a few others:
Try out Paradise Poke next to Nuuanu Starbucks.
Kalapawai! I’ve gone to the ones in Kailua, always Ono! 🤤 also banan used to be our go to when they were in Kapahulu when they just started, but since the closest location is now Waikiki we haven’t gone 😰 but love their stuff😋
We’ve been hearing about thelmas, we hope we can make it out there for some Ono Filipino food soon!
Thanks for the coffee rec too! When we’re in the area we always try to find some local coffee shops💞
@@AmandaFelixEats W00t! Can't wait for the B&B vid! Yay! :-)
what do you eat at home? what do you cook? What is home life like with you two? What do you eat that gives you ideas to somewhere or do somethngs that takes you there? And who's the cook?
Will do more home videos once we move in!
Grind some Lomi Oi'o or eat at Sikdorak
Totally enjoyed your honest comments about the food today. I agree with all your recommendations. I just don't think the onion pastry is meant to be sweet, but savory instead so you gotta be prepared for that!
I agree. It's a savory pastry, so one should not expect it to taste like a sweet dessert.
Oddly it was sweet! 😂 kinda like onion jam!
HO! Major cho cho lip action! Glad you're on the mend, Felix!
Always got that cho cho lip action 😂 mahalo!
Check out Times coffee shop in Kailua!!! 🤙🏼
Noted!
Yelp doesn't allow us promote our channel. If we did yelp reviews it would take away a number of audience as well.
Oh no that ahi tuma did look so so dry 😐 sorry that wasn’t too good. I love pastries and bakery items 😍 omg I wanted to reach into my iPad to steal that Filipino cake lol
Pianomo rolls are so good!
I like the music you have chosen. Canyou let me know who they are.
fleetwood mac! cheee 🤙🏾
Love their music!!🥳
Amanda & Felix for authentic Filipino food In Waipahu ELENAS, THELMAS, And Filipino Express Restaurant
Thanks for letting us know! Hope we can make it out soon!🤤🤤🤤
Looks so ono!!
🤤🤤🤤
Can you review Joe’s Grill Express? Every time we fly in we always want to try them but they’re closed.
Sounds like a good spot!
Never heard of Ronnies. Guys you were not too far away from Penny's Drive In, you would of got better food at similar price, tip i didn't care for the mac salad it was sweet, sugar type sweet i think they put sugar in it.
Maybe we'll do penny's next 🤔
I love onions, but not as dessert. I'd get onion roll as a side with my entree. Love to try the pianomo roll though. That sounded fabulous.
Pianomo roll is a must for Filipino bakery desserts, especially the one from jesses!😋
I'd like to.see healthier foods. Not just salad places, but fresh cooked, veggies and organic. After many years of plate lunches and hawaiian food, it caught up.with me suffering blocked arteries and 2 seperate stent sugeries in 10 yrs..
We are planning a healthy eats video! 👌
Tip: mo closah, mo cheapah, mo bettah adobo, + 7 other places fo kau kau...Christine's Diner* @ the Airport Commercial Ctr.
*opens @ O'dark-30
Pianomo roll is more well known as pianono roll. I’m like Amanda, I can eat the whole roll if you don’t take it away from me. My sister used to make it all the time.
Not in Hawaii though, more frequently known as with the 'm' and not the 'n'.
Interesting!
There should be a cho cho lips emoji!
😂😂😂👄
Amanda! That face, lol!
😂😂😂 what can I say, that was really strong onion flavor!
Lmao @ manang & manong.
Can you go to Sidestreet Inn!
Planning on it!
