Although I don't think this device will solve my problem, I feel that I understand how it works and could install one myself if necessary. Very clear explanation plus demonstration. Thanks!

Thanks! I've been having cat problems for over 10 years and the worse thing about it is my wife and Mother-in-law encourage them to come around as our neighbors don't take care of them. They've been peeing and crapping in my yard and when it rains our yard floods and that's all you smell for weeks. I started by replacing wood mulch with lava rock which worked for the most part but they still find areas where I haven't put it and still do their business. But this is amazing and think it will work, even thought of sitting out on my porch and doing it by hand, but I have to go to work sometime. Thanks again!

I have a different brand but it works the same. My problem was deer eating my tomato plants. I installed one of these and they still come by but they run like hell when it goes off. NO more eating my plants, I LOVE THESE THINGS

    Hi,
Can you set this to 10 feet and spray in a relatively narrow path?
    Thanks!

Thx for the walkthrough of how this deterrent works. Cats or racoons dug up my plants. Fingers crossed this will git 'em!

For those in need of something like this (and particularly those with deer problems), my dad seems to have found a good and even cheaper solution to prevent them from eating the apples from our apple trees: balloons
As soon as the wind blows, they move, and the deer assume it's a predator. It works great! I would suggest this to my dad as a slightly more expensive contingency plan (purchase, water, and batteries) but it might scare our family cat back into the woods (or make him come in soaking wet!)
That said, this would probably be a good option for those without family pets and for whom balloons just don't work...

Did you have any problems with the water hose splitting because of the water pressure? I did...my water bill was outrageous when it happened.

I know this comment is 8 months late, but if you read it... I solve that problem by using the 1/4" hose with a threaded screwing caps on both ends! The caps are 1/2" and will fit on the sprinkler, while you have to buy adapter in order to connect that hose with your water pipe/hose.
If you have problem identifying what kind of hose is that, search for a washing machine water hose! I managed to find one with 1.8m lenght, but usually they are shorter. Anyway... the lenght isnt important as that hose would be only for secure connection between the sprinkler and the water pipe.
      Hope this help.

It would be very beneficial to actually see the results you had..especially if a camera video would show the actual animal/system interacting.

I'm at war with the neighbor hood cats. Constantly shitting on the side of my yard where I have a palm tree in a sandy area. I'm gonna use this before I break out the Red Rider again. Thanks for the review looks promising. Can't wait to set up a camera and see them run!

Hey Sue, I'm very happy with it. No more holes in veggie pad, while there's still plenty of holes outside the protected area. I need more sprinklers :).

Ah, so after 4 weeks, it was working pretty good aside from leaks? How is it a year later?
Also, have you come up with a cheap solution to that leak issue? It's probably the solar panels that make it so costly. Surely there's a way you can get an independent tank that you can fill by hand or with the help of mother nature's rain?

I like the way it might be able to train dogs not to go on the lawn. But I am definitely going to get a few to keep the deer away I wonder what it does to bears when it is pepper spray bear spray around a perimeter of a camp. Make with a sound that tremendously gives a bear chills and will go away horn, you know? Well, another bear deterrent for the North. You people want a new kind of bear repellent up there in those northern latitudes? I think it would be pretty interesting to watch.

Nice video review. I'm gonna buy one and aim it straight up next to my house, cuz I have wood peckers pecking holes in my siding. Not many things work for woodpeckers. This will. Thank You..

ThomasTheSailor Chubby If Woodpeckers are pecking at your house. You should have it checked for bugs.

I did.. No bugs.. Woodpeckers also peck as a mating call.. They only peck my house in late summer.. They must like the sound my house makes, cuz it's alot different than the sound tree's make..

HI; i need to know if the distance of the water spray can be adjusted. i want to spray dogs who pee and poo on the edge of my yard but i'd rather not spray the dog owner who's out on the road....maybe turn my faucet down half way or less? thanks

Sure. It’s a motion detector so it works all night which is when the critters are out.. I have two on the front of my house and believe me it works wonders. Here in the mountains of Arizona the Elk and Javalina will decimate your yard in a few short nights. I tried everything and was at my wits end until I got these. Now the Elk know my yard and steer clear and eat up my neighbors yard. Best money I’ve ever spent. Now in the summer I sleep with the windows open and I hear the sprinklers go off and I know there’s a critter trying to get to my plants. I hop up and with my spotlight I see multiple Elk that are staying clear. It’s awesome because it’s completely harmless yet the animals learn not to screw with your yard. I used to make the nursery rich by them selling me Elk food (plants) and now that’s stopped and my yard looks awesome. It’s not easy to outsmart the critters but finally I’ve done it. Gotta put a timer on it though otherwise you’ll be hosing down your Fed Ex guy and your neighbors during the day which won’t make you very popular. I was going to fabricate this very thing out of desperation but was pleasantly surprised to find that someone had already beat me to the punch.

Hi, Raccoons completely tore up my new Sod, my question is what is the range of motion for the sensor, is it 360 degree? can you place this in the middle of the lawn or does it need to be pointed in a direction because the sensor is limited to 180 degrees, thanks!

    • @BackyardBoogi
      @BackyardBoogi  9 років тому

It needs to be pointed in a specific direction, it covers about 135 degrees, I'd say.

Update, bought 2 of these and ever since I am now winning the war against these raccoons and my new sod, just wish I bought them earlier! I would recommend this to anyone else with a new lawn.
