Thank you for a very well done video showing the Scarecrow in action and how the trail camera operates too...a two for one clip. The editing makes it even better.
Great follow-up. I bought one after your first review. It seems to be working well. My problem are kingfishers catching my goldfish out of my pond. Need to setup a time lapse to see its effectiveness. I'll be buying a water timer to attach to the tap as I don't need this to function at night. Thanks again!
You could probably hook up the sprinklers using PVC sprinkler parts. I know there are hose bib connectors available for 3.4" pipe. Depending on exactly where you need to put heads you could probably hard line the whole thing. Worst case scenario would be to lay PVC for 95% or so of the distance and custom make a short flexible connector to jump from the PVC to the sprinkler. Hook that to your hose spliter and your done. Do a You Tube search for "movable PVC sprinklers" to find some ideas.
This is GREAT! You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to install one of these above my inner city restaurant with a timer to keep bums and alcoholics off my balcony. :)
Good product, I will get one not for an animal but for driving away a bad guy who may try to close to my car at night, since we are living in an area that had some criminal activities, the bad guy just looking for random easy target....., so water and noise will keep the bad guy away from my car .
I mean if you think about it in cost the expensive one will save more money in the long run seeing that it's not hooked up to a running faucet for hours on end every night.
I'm thinking about buying one for the stray cat that keeps harassing my cat. Thanks for doing a video update! The cam that you use is awesome too to figure out what goes on at night. :)
The reviews for the hose-free product are really poor. I wish there was a way to use that tank and fix it to these more reliable motion sensor sprinklers - I have used the orbit product and loved it. It was battery-operated, but I do not mind switching out the batteries now and then. The issue is with the hose. If your hose is not strong enough, it will leak or burst. You just don't want that power build up. And having a hose going across your yard wherever you put the sprinkler is not great either. If the hose-less sprinkler was not solar-powered, that would help too. I just wish they could be combined.
So in other words, either use a heavy-duty hose with it, or a water tank? That is, assuming you're not fortunate enough to have a water well of your own with enough tank capacity that water loss is not a problem. Personally, the case I mentioned on your original video, where we're trying to keep deer away... we have to pay for water, so we would probably need a heavy-duty hose, unless we could figure out some way to modulate the pressure on the water line... my dad is the sort of handyman type that could probably work something out between the utility store down the road and the accessibility of my home's utility systems.
Twisted Code yes, water tank or heavy-duty hose are both options I would recommend. Since that initial leak due to a flimsy hose I haven't had any further leaking.
We landscaped on the west side of or home a few years back, and to keep the deer and bunnies out of the new plants. We installed two of these Scare Crows and they worked fine. Unfortunately, every bird, lizard and ant set the (!@#$%^&*) things off. Dispite adjustments, we were penalized for excessive water use by our HOA. I took them out and had to replant a few years later. The deer in our area love my backyard lawn. Due to the drougthts here in California over the last two years, our beloved black tails have devastated my lawn. I replanted and put a 4'x4', 1/2 inch screen box over my re-seeded areas. Well, after all the (!@#$%^&*) work, and being tired of wasting "penetrating" pellets through my pellet rifle, I dug out the old Scare Crows, .....only to find the old hoses, wyes, and coupling had developed leaks. I'm off to the hardware store tomorrow for repair parts. Wish me luck. I like your coverage, so I subscribed after seeing your second installment on this topic. Thanks Bro!
I purchase a similar model, the Orbit Enforcer. I'm having issue with the battery box getting moisture inside and causing the batteries to become corroded. Any such issue with yours?
the trail cam is from moultrie link here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AP30RVE/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00AP30RVE&linkCode=as2&tag=backyardtube-20 otherwise i'm just filming with my iPhone 5s
Thanks for the video i am thinking of buying one of these. I have seen a heap on ebay from China which look exactly the same but so much cheaper. Tell me if they are the same or am I better off paying 3 times more for an original, if they are at all better quality.
Raccoons completely tore up my new Sod, my question is what is he range of motion for the sensor, is it 360 degree? can you place this in the middle of the lawn or does it need to be pointed in a direction because the sensor is limited, thank you!
Hi; someone here mentioned replacing the home fed water hose with tank of water; has anyone worked out the physics for this to work? I'm thinking 'gravity fed pressure'. What exactly is the pressure requirement for this sprinkler? would the tank water supply have to be a 55gal or would a 30gal do? Can i only fill the drum half way or would i have to keep it full all the time? could i get away with a full 5gal bucket if it was high enough off the ground? how high? Ideas? thanks
my feeling is that you wouldn't be able to build up enough pressure for the burst of water it needs to shoot the way 20 yards or so. I'm guessing you'd need 20-30psi minimum for it to work at full range.
do I need to turn on the water hose that is connected to my house at all times to have this device to work? wouldn't that risk the faucet to flood due to the build-up pressure to this device? thanks for helping.
+ThePolechick I just recently pulled mine out of the garage (for storage) to protect an overseeded lawn from birds and it worked by putting in a new battery.
Thank you for a very well done video showing the Scarecrow in action and how the trail camera operates too...a two for one clip. The editing makes it even better.
Thank you for the review. I have a similar problem in my garden and am researching a solution.

that's an interesting idea. I may actually use that for a more permanent installation of the sprinkler.
Thank u so much u just saved me a lot of research time when you mentioned the 1 with the water tank
Very awesome!! Have enjoyed your videos. Nice that you had an update to follow. Thank you for sharing :)
This is GREAT! You know what I'm going to do? I'm going to install one of these above my inner city restaurant with a timer to keep bums and alcoholics off my balcony. :)
How did it work?
Gwendolyn Kimura then set up a Webcam stream 😂
Free showers

Use the ‘Made in USA’ Continental black hose with real brass fittings. I have only these, and they don’t leak.

I am searching for the scarecrow with a reservoir. Can you assist with the link please?

The only Issue I see here Is belonging to an HOA.
Nice job, man. You have helped my research.
The hoseless link gives me a "SORRY" this page not found. Steel hoses are the best.
Thanks for the video! I went ahead and ordered one.
nice!
We need the same product like this that rotates within 180 degrees

Thank you for a very well video
Can you tie the motion sensors into your existing controllers so your existing sprinklers can turn on?
What kind of camera do you have? from where you bought it. Thank you.

what is the name of the solar powered two gallon water tank system. My water valve is on the side of my house which causes a safety issue.
The music is great lol

It needs to be pointed in a specific direction, it covers about 135 degrees, I'd say.
The watertank sprinklers will get algae and growth in the tank
Why the bricks? Is your soil too soft to hold the sprinkler?
To my best knowledge, this is PIR sensor. The PIR sensor is not effective on BIRDS, MOUSE or small animals. Any success stories to share?
Great video!
Where can you buy this in Europe? This is very expensive here, no $50 but about $140.
Will it work on grackles?
Thank you for sharing!

right; i'm looking into that hose-less one you mentioned.....thanks and great vid btw
Great video. Thank you
What king of animal is that?
How is it doing two plus years into using it?
I see a bird in your video. Did it scare him away. I don't want to scare the birds away. Maybe it's low enough that it won't.
A very helpful video
teach those raccoons!
I'm getting one👍👍👍👍

yes
Omg, i need to get this! My cat keeps shitting in my landscaping rocks in front of my house!!
Where are you that you got yours for 50? Mine was 100!
Im in California. You can check the link in the video description for pricing.
Backyard Boogi dude I'm in Cali, OSH is way over charging, I feel so ripped off.
Melissa Menchaca Sorry to hear about the price. How is the sprinkler working out for you, though?
First night. I'll let you know.
Melissa Menchaca please do!
Mine worked 3 times while I was testing & now it wont work at all, wish it would because there's a cat fouling on my things :(
+ThePolechick I just recently pulled mine out of the garage (for storage) to protect an overseeded lawn from birds and it worked by putting in a new battery.
+Backyard Boogi - I am hoping it's just wet inside and will dry out & work tomorrow or the day after
cool idea! :oD
So raccoons don't come to take a free shower on hot summer days? But then on the serious side, have you tried the much cheaper ultrasound repellents?
please comment
