The Real Vikings Behind Characters In 'Valhalla'

  • Vikings told the story of Ragnar Lothbrok, his first wife, Lagertha, and a host of other notable Scandinavians who lived, worked, and fought their way through the earliest part of the so-called Viking Age. The show depicted real men, women, and children with a mix of historical truth and fictional fodder through six seasons - but it only scratched the surface of the fascinating world of the Vikings.

The Author definitely takes pride in his representation of the time period while being very passionate about the story, characters and history.

so Drell/Trell/"Throall" can refer generally to people working for someone else
the modern term "slave" comes from that time - before that many slavs were enslaved, those people were called latin SERVI

Tore Hund had hurt his hand but when he was done tending to the dead king his wound had healed.
Later, when Nidarosdomen (the first cathedral in Norway)was build Olav was exhumed and moved to the cathedral.
The sage tells us that his body was intact and even had longer hair and nails than before.

Vikings: Ragnar and Rollo lived nearly 200 years apart.
Last Kingdom: nearly everything to do with the Mercians. Especially Aethelred.
It puzzles me why film studios butcher the actual history for added drama. The real stories are actually more amazing than the shows.

I will always question the accuracy of a television show that uses a word to name it, that these people they speak of never actually used themselves.

You would have to wonder if she was the descendent of prisoners taken during Viking raids in North Africa/the Mediterranean but I HIGHLY doubt that’s what the writers were aiming for. Kinda like how there are now black elves on the upcoming LoTR tv series on Prime video.
