I got one of peter’s hives, such a strong hive, I added a honey collector on top, and did an eduction on it and now I’ve got 2! Thinking about buying another one for the other end of my yard!
I spoke to peter today for over an hour on the phone. Funny man.. Not far from me , I wanted to know about the davenport bees. I grew up in the same suburb as him now. I plan to go and visit soon as he asked me to. I spoke of a hive that i had started a section of brood in after burning out an empty box that i had made from a sleeper, Then 2 days later after setting it up a massive swarm (and i mean massive) came and just moved right in very aggressively and not 12 months later it is full to the bream with honey and stores. It would be at least a 6 litre box as well. Its now my strongest with 2 eductiins taken already.
@@australiannativebee3662 im going to halve the size of my hives to try to force more frequent eductions. I dont eat the honey so its more of a brood raising hive. I have plans of getting a block of land and putting a fair amount of hives on
