Ironically, I'm listening to this song coming up on 9 years of sobriety and it moved me to tears. If you listen to it as faith the concept and not the character from the game, it's a very touching story of struggle and relying on faith to shield you from the struggles of the world. The irony, of course, being the bliss is a drug in the game
This song hit me so hard as someone with severe mental disabilities, I still keep coming back to it to this day. It gives me a weird sense of comfort, but also makes me cry so much, I've been through two friendships that left these lyrics feeling too fitting, abusive friendships, one right after the other. Right when I thought I was safe after the first, the second reared it's head. At least for now, things seem better. The worst part is that I still miss one of those friends.

As someone of Appalachian heritage who is disentangling religion from my life, this song gets me every time. If you replace "bliss" with "the cross" it's just like a song of my culture. This song makes me feel how religion did, a sort of wistfulness but this is more honest. It's a different life when you realize the wolves the bible warned you about are the very ones leading the flocks anymore.
This is the song that played during Faith's boss fight. I swear, Ubisoft just really made it hard to get thru that boss fight. Not like the mission was hard, she was an easy boss fight, it's just that EMOTIONALLY getting passed the mission is still something I can't swallow.

I think Red Dead Redemption won a few awards for its original soundtrack when it came out. This one (12 original songs I think) deserves awards too. Not just for the songs per say, but how they are meant to be the seductive Cult propagandist brainwashing soundtrack (using Christian parallels and allusions - but not quite) produced by Eden's Gate. The composers/lyric writers of the game knew it had to be convincing in that context, and they pulled it off brilliantly. IMO.
