Your 100% guy down to earth and nice to see you speaking to other non professional bike riders. Ive subscribed to you and supporting yourself and your team thanks Andy.
Was unsure about some of your initial videos - but genuinely think this is a superb insight into your life as a World Tour Pro rider. Great commentary and video of both the ascent and descent - favourite current pro rider for giving the honest insight of the reality of the life of a pro cyclist. Many thanks for the time you take to do this.
Did this climb on FulGaz in my basement yesterday and then came across this video - looks like you came up from the Bormio side. Loved the video, especially the descent! Keep up the good work - Cheers!
This climb will always be on my mind! It was the very first climb I ever did as a kid. I rode a hard-tail mtb back then because it had lower gears. It took me over 3 hours but that was alright! I definmately want to do it again on a road bike
You think that climb was hard Alex,I had to get out of bed, make my own breakfast then sit down and watch sport all day. Man I`m tired, and a little chubby. I`m enjoying your work.
you need to do the motirolo and Giava......you are so close! Looks like you came up the side out of Switzerland? What brake pads you using with your Zipps?
Rest day tomorrow,,,,,,,,,,I think I will go mountain biking.......My God man!.................... I climb the Stelvio last year with my mate from Perth, originally from Liverpool. It was his 20 anniversary of meeting his misses :-) .GARMIN lost the signal going through the tunnel......... But I manage that in 1:50......any you wander up there in 1:20
They did Gavia the same day, he doesn't like to brag I guess! Our group did just Gavia that day and chatted to them at the top, I was in the toilet, dammit!
What’s your breaking technique to avoid the rims from getting too hot? Or are you just going for broke? Really enjoying the videos and good luck on your upcoming races.
Didn't Alex briefly hold the one hour TT record (qm) I have always wondered why guys who have so much power cant get up the hills like the mountain goats. Is it weight alone that holds you back (qm) Big Mig could haul himself up with the best in his day. I am most certain that Miguel had a little help getting up the mountains, but that s here nor there. Hincapie rode a ridiculous ride up a mountain to win a stage of the tour and we all know why. I find it hard to believe pro athletes do not explore every possible way to improve performance, even to this day. So what holds the time trialists back on the hills (qm)
MG Gailitis power to weight simply mate. I have a good about of power, not mind blowing amounts, I’m quite aerodynamic also hence the good tt results, weight is high for my power though and aero doesn’t account for anything in climbs.
Thanks, man. I am a cycling relic that dates back to the early 90 s and am still trying to figure out modern ways of determining performance. Good luck at the TDU and keep the rubber side down. @@AlexDowsettOfficial
Do you feel the urge to increase pace when an amateur passes you? Does it piss you off? Also, what grade level did your crotch-grabbing teammate achieve? That part of the video is a perfect example why kids should think twice before idolizing athletes.
Ok, Ok, I will lighten up. I shouldn't stake a claim on what is acceptable humour. Reason I asked about being passed is I used to instinctively up my pace when someone passed. Good on you for not taking things so seriously.
Love this guy. Says hi to regular riders. Class act.
Great vid. Love the humility , humour and detail. Top bloke

Great to watch your videos and realise that we are all thinking the same things when tackling these epic climbs.
Just brilliant, keeping it real, keep them coming
So pleased I discovered your channel, love it, keep up the good work!

Bucket list climb for me, maybe next year... Love the sound of those brakes on the descent... Mine scream with my weight lol

Awesome! Thanks Alex! :)
Awesome content from a pro, thanks!
Great vid Alex
I thought you had the motor bike🏍 in pocket 😜 he was not letting you past. Great vid

Great video
If Alex Dowsett says it hard and has run out of gears what is it like for us amateurs?!!!
I know! Loved that line about clicking for more gears and not having any - hahahaha
Definitely been there :)
Looking good camera work 1st class
Awesome vid
What's your take on daytime running lights for bicycles?
We all need a climbing screen now :-)
That whine of rim brake on carbon just fills me with a sense of dread going down long descents like that. I can almost feel the heat build up...
exactly
Hi Alex. Great video. Which software do you use to overlay your speed on the video? Cheers.
What are you riding on the front?

I'll be delighted if I can do it in under 2 hours😂😂 Mortirolo first though 😬😬
My desk job sucks!
Should also say the Stelvio from Prato is a bit harder & possibly better views. Reckon you'll get to do the Gavia whilst your in Livigno?
They did Gavia the same day, he doesn't like to brag I guess! Our group did just Gavia that day and chatted to them at the top, I was in the toilet, dammit!
Type 2 fun Alex, not fun at the time but fun when remembering it...
Hey Alex, do you listen to music when you ride? If so, what?
What earbuds are you using in this video?
Nice vid :-) Is it with a gopro?
i have a bianchi stelvio

Manny Samaniego mostly try not to brake.
I guess you're holding back a bit though compared to a race, as you can't use all of the road/have to stop at the traffic lights etc?

I would be scared going down hill so fast as my bike has regular brakes and not hydralic brakes like yours does.
I'm guessing you are not a climber.....
Alex held the Hour Record before the current HR holder Bradley Wiggins broke it. This man is a top time trial specialist.

MG Gailitis I’m happy for them if an amateur passes me and I encourage them, re my teammate...lighten up mate, we’re real and we’re fun
