you're literally my favourite person ever, i rarely comment on your videos but i've been watching you for about 10 months and i can't express how much I LOVE YOU
Some part of me wishses thet would sell books, audiobooks and the kindle version together. Sort of like the way they sell blurays, dvd and digital copy
I wouldn’t mind paying a couple of dollars extra for that! I know some books do come with ebook and audible audio for a bit extra, but I also love to collect the actual physical books.
I've never listened to audio books. I prefer a book because the only time I ever read is at night. But if I wanted to read whilst doing stuff through the day, or when I learn to drive, audio books will come in amazingly handy! xx
I'm listening to The Diviners right now AND I AM OBSESSED. I picked it up because you and Hannah were raaaaving about it and I'm so glad I did! Where has it been my whole life?! It's perfection. THANK YOU.
For Dutch readers: Check out your library, check Storytel (English and Dutch books) I myself have used Storytel for a few years before I found out Scribd is available too. I mostly read English books but if you want to find Dutch books, defenitely check out your library's website or Storytel! I can recommend Stephen Fry's audiobooks for Harry Potter! LOVED them! Just like you said about Jim Dale, Stephen Fry also uses different voices for the characters and overall it defenitely adds to the experience! Another series I really loved re-reading as audiobooks was A Series of Unfortunate Events, which was narrated by Jim Curry and the author himself. Jim Curry uses different voices for different characters as well and his performance of Count Olaf is the best I've ever heard!
ahh thanks! It's so hard to find good Dutch audiobooks (and English too) that are available in the Netherlands. Also, the app Luisterbieb provides audiobooks that you can connect with your library. But there are mostly adult books on there, as well as a few classics. Hardly any YA (or any recent books).
I had the exact same experience with the illuminae files, I read illuminae on physical copy and listened to Gemina's audiobook and I LOVED it. i'm still pretty new to audiobooks so I'm really glad to have all these recs from you!
I just went through Illuminae on audiobook. I did think that looking at the book occasionally while listening to the book was one of the best book experiences I have ever had.
THANK YOU! I've been meaning to start listening to audiobooks for a while but I haven't known which ones are good, or which one's I should try. Thank you so much for making this video, it came at the absolute perfect time for me!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MENTIONING BORROW BOX!!!! I’ve looked on overdrive before but they didn’t have my library. I checked borrow box and THEY DO! I’m unbelievably happy because I can’t get to my actual physical library so I haven’t been able to go for years 😥 thank you!!!
I so agree with you on gentleman’s audiobook! It was indeed so so so GOOD, I really felt like the narrator really added an extra spark of attitude with Monty’s character it was great
Thank you so much for this video! I've been wanting to get into audiobooks forever, but never knew which ones to start with because I've heard people talking about how an audiobook has ruined a reading experience for them
If you haven’t read these please please do!!! Dannika Darks seven series, cross breed series, etc are all narrated by Nicole Poole. Marguerite Gavin reading the hollows series by Kim Harrison. And Tavia Gilbert narrates the night huntress series and spin offs. All of these are THE BEST narrators! Deff recommend! Can’t say that enough!
I couldn't finish The Diviners, and subsequent research into the rest of the series made me so glad I dropped it... BUT! The audio narration - January LaVoy's performance was a bright shining gem, and I'm glad that I waded through half that stinker of a book to find HER.
Its 2pm where i live..i started watching this video at 6 am getting ready to go to my classes. Once you talked about The gentlemen's guide to vice and virtue i paused the video and downloaded the audiobook. I immediately started listening. Now i got home, and all i want to do is finish watching your video and listen to some more.
I recently re-read Illuminae by listening to the audiobook and the entire production blew me away. I absolutely loved it and I'm really surprised by that because I wasn't the biggest fan of the book when I first read it. I think part of it did come down to the format of the book and my struggle reading quite a few of the pages so realising that the audiobook works better for me was amazing. I now need to get the audiobooks for Gemina and Obsidio because I expect they'll be of the same calibre!
I started reading audiobooks just last year by watching my friends read her book and listen to her book (I do this too,it helps me alot when it comes to reading faster.) So my audible account is my go-to for my reading.
Great video. I'm a full-time writer of historical fantasy novels and I love hearing a narrator bring my characters to life in an audio book. I will look out for your recommendations.
"But love doesn’t always have to be about the happy ending. Love can be about beginnings, too." I just finished Afterlife of Holly Chase and I initially just planned to read the ebook but seeing this, I purchased it on audible and I listened to it while reading. I was bawling my eyes from the last 3 chapters. Thank you for recommending it, Emma!
The first ever audiobook I listened to was Stalking Jack the Ripper and it got me hooked, now I am making my way through audio after audio and loving the Lunar Chronicles as audio
I enjoyed the Afterlife of Holly Chase. The way the end wrapped up and came full circle was awesome. I’m going to read it again later this year. I also agree about the Jim Dale narration of Harry Potter. I have them on audible so I can access the anytime!
I finished the six of crows duology a few days ago and i just wanted to reread it immediately so i thought i would try the audiobook since i've never tried it before and i thought it would be easier with a book i was familiar with. Its amazing i wasn't expecting it at all. Im usually a visual person and even when i'm listening to music i space out but they really grab your attention!! Try it out everyone you'll be surprised
I just listened to the Heartless audio book not too long ago and I thought it was fantastic. Her voice acting is amazing! There are so many characters and she gives each and every one their own unique voice. So good!
this is more of a recommendation for y'all bc I know that since this video Emma has audiobook'd this series but I found the Arc of a Scythe narration to be fantastic. He had distinct voices for each character that fit with their description and he's great with many different accents. Oh, and the series itself is absolutely incredible, unique and creative.
Not sure how I missed this video! I love audio books! It’s hard to know if a book will be better that way or read by myself. The Raven Boys books are amazing read by Will Patton!
I'm obsessed with this audiobook called Countdown by Deborah Wiles! It's a kids/middle grade book taking place during the Cold War about a girl in the US and it's just so good! There's also little "radio clips" that I think are so cool! If you are a middle grade reader 10/10 would recommend!
Rebecca also does the narration for the Lunar Chronicles series! I recently finished the series on audiobook, and Rebecca did an amazing job with them as well!
Illuminae was finally the story that got me into audiobooks successfully to the point where my next 4 reads were also Audiobooks! :) Started Obsidio today :)
I read The Afterlife of Holly Chase around Christmas and loved it! The character development was amazing! I have Six of Crows in my Audible library and I'm planning to listen to it after I finish the Hobbit because it seems really daunting in print!
I recently listened to the audiobook of Lair of Dreams and I couldn't agree with you more. I sometimes even forgot that it's just one woman narrating everything, she does all the different voices and characters so extremely well!
I am currently listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks narrated by Stephen Fry and am really enjoying them! I think his narration is phenomenal and would totally recommend them! Also, I just recently bought all three available books of The Diviners series on Audible and can't wait to start listening to them! One of Libba Bray's other books, Beauty Queens, is actually narrated by Libba Bray herself, so I'm thinking of listening to that one on audiobook as well. I always love when the narration is done by the author.
I've actually listened to all of these and your picks are spot on. I also recommend Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel. It's a full cast audiobook along with being a very cook story!
Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting to get into audio books but it was hard for me to find them. Plus I just downloaded the overdrive app and I am so excited to get using it. There are so many great looking books. 😊
my favorite audiobook narrator is Rebecca Lowman. she narrated Fangirl and Annie on My Mind. and also of course Jim Dale for the HP series... except when he did Hermione’s HARRYYYY voice. but other than that yeah it’s dope lol
I agree about Rebecca Soler. I also love Steve West (Strange the Dreamer, The Scorpio Races, etc), Bahni Turpin( The Hate U Give, The Sun is Also a Star), and Will Patton’s narration for The Raven Cycle is my favorite of all time!!! Love this. The Afterlife of Holly Chase was sooo good too. I loved it so much.
I’ve read and loved every book on this list (except Holly Chase) in physical format, and if I ever decide to delve into audiobooks I’m definitely going to consider listening to them in audiobook format.
Ahhhh the afterlife of holly chase! I loved it and read it in probably 2 maybe 3 days max as well because I was hooked, it was a really fun read. Plus it was my first ever audiobook, I think I might have told you that in person the one time I met you (which was honestly one of the best days of my life btw bc your so cool❤️)
Thank you so myuch for this list! Really helpful as I'm trying to get into audiobooks at the moment. Great video over all, loved the little brtiney-youch to the intermezzo ;)
Ahhh I loved Holly Chase too! I'll have to check out the audio because I read the ebook version. And I definitely recommend Sleeping Giants / Waking Gods! They're both full cast audiobooks and they were so good!
My favorite audiobooks have been Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and Murder on the Orient Express. Simon felt so real to me and I feel like I got a lot more out of the story hearing it from "him." Dan Stevens narrated Murder on the Orient Express and he made 14 characters sound like totally different people. He was incredible, and I can't wait to hear more from him!
I haven’t read Renegades yet but I’ll definitely try to check it out on audiobook if it’s available on Overdrive! If I reread the Illuminae Files books, I will for sure listen to the audiobooks. I’ve heard so many great things about it.
I loved the audio for The serpent king by Jeff Zentner.. It has 3 narrators (one per POV) and they were awesome. It’s a great contemporary book and the audio it’s a great way to consume the story..
I find it interesting that you said larger books can be intimidating to listen to because I find I it is much less daunting for me to commit to a long audiobook than the physical book.
These all sound like incredible books! I would 100% agree with Illuminae. That was my first audiobook and holy heck it was such an experience and I loved every minute of it! I'm currently listening to Gemina and loving it! It's taking me a bit to get used to the new characters and cast but so far so good. 💗 I might have to listen to The Gentleman's guide on audiobook if it's that good. I have the physical book from the library but haven't gotten around to it. 😂
Have you listened to the audiobooks of the iron fey series? Summer’s crossing and the talon series were so on point like you can see in your mind the narrators would be the actual character’s voice
I want to thank you for sharing some of your favorites. I have recently started listening to audiobooks and having a hard time finding ones that I enjoy hearing. Narration plays a big part in my choice for listening even if I am extremely interested in the book. I have placed a few holds and have checked out the holly chase book. I am hoping to like it:)
Just put the Afterlife of Holly Chase on hold from the library, but it's going to take some time before I get it. I recently listened to The Hate U Give on audiobook and COULD NOT STOP listening to it. It was fantastic! I also love anything by Neil Gaiman on audiobook. He narrates them himself and does such and amazing job.
Your videos are so good, I'm in love with you now!!! Unfortunately in Brazil we don't have nothing like Overdrive :/ sometimes we don't even have enough books in the library shelves
Jim Dale is AMAZING! Have you seen the tv show pushing daisies? He also narrates that series. Definitely want to check it the afterlife of holly chase. On my TBR!!
Ready Player One another amazing book to listen to 💜. Will Wheaton does a great job bringing the characters and the world to life. I wanted to listen to it again after I had just finished it!
personally and I know you wont see this but my favorite series was the extinction cycle, such an amazing series in my eyes I love all the charecters. it's such a great book imo.
you're literally my favourite person ever, i rarely comment on your videos but i've been watching you for about 10 months and i can't express how much I LOVE YOU
you are so sweet! thank you so much for your support
:')

December Vesalius YES!
I wouldn’t mind paying a couple of dollars extra for that! I know some books do come with ebook and audible audio for a bit extra, but I also love to collect the actual physical books.

that is very true!! :)
:) x
Me too but I only listen to them if I’m cooking
you Never Listened to audio books, not read audiobooks :) its fine i guess
+Raymond Morun omg didn't notice that haha, thank you :)
I love how Audible lets you hear a sample before getting the book. I am picky about audio readers so im glad I get to hear them first.
I'm listening to The Diviners right now AND I AM OBSESSED. I picked it up because you and Hannah were raaaaving about it and I'm so glad I did! Where has it been my whole life?! It's perfection. THANK YOU.
I’ve listened to 40 hours of audiobooks so far this month! 💖 My favorites were Illuminae/Gemina, Sleeping Giants, and Harry Potter!
For Dutch readers: Check out your library, check Storytel (English and Dutch books) I myself have used Storytel for a few years before I found out Scribd is available too. I mostly read English books but if you want to find Dutch books, defenitely check out your library's website or Storytel!

storiesofwonderland / Omg thanks! I always look for audiobooks in Dutch💕

Glad to be able to help!
Storytel is life
I love Storytel! I downloaded it last month and have been listening to Harry Potter since
Thank you for posting this video today! I was feeling depressed and you made my day ❤️😊
I had the exact same experience with the illuminae files, I read illuminae on physical copy and listened to Gemina's audiobook and I LOVED it. i'm still pretty new to audiobooks so I'm really glad to have all these recs from you!
ah i'm happy to find someone else who had a similar experience!
You look like a goth princess in this video! You might be one of my favorite BookTubers. I'm always excited for your next video.
"Oops I did it again." Oml, I didn't know I needed this until now. This is why you're my favorite booktuber 😂😂
Harry Potter narrated by Stephen Fry is amazing too! I prefer his narration! 💕
Stephen Fry is just awesome
Stephen Fry is better
Agreed, I specifically chose the Stephen Fry versions, so much better! ❤️
Jim dale is better imo.
I prefer Stephen Fry's narration. Jim Dale's Hermione voice irks me
I just went through Illuminae on audiobook. I did think that looking at the book occasionally while listening to the book was one of the best book experiences I have ever had.
YES QUEEN JUST THE VIDEO I NEEDED
ahaha
This is my favorite channel of all time!😀
Musical Catie Cat same!!😄

The Diviners audiobooks are incredible!! I'm so sad that the series isn't getting the appreciation it deserves :(
THANK YOU! I've been meaning to start listening to audiobooks for a while but I haven't known which ones are good, or which one's I should try. Thank you so much for making this video, it came at the absolute perfect time for me!
thanks to your recommendations I started listening to the Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue audiobook and I'm in love! Thanks so much xx
Girl listen to the chronicles of Narina. Fully dramatized and so beautifully done, they are a classic that you can listen to over and over again 💕💕💕
Just got The Diviners on audible.. can’t wait to listen to it.
I am loving your videos at the moment. You are killing it!
I so agree with you on gentleman’s audiobook! It was indeed so so so GOOD, I really felt like the narrator really added an extra spark of attitude with Monty’s character it was great
Hey Emma.
You made me love listening to Audiobooks and thank you so much❤
(btw i love Harry Potter audiobooks)
Thank you so much for this video! I've been wanting to get into audiobooks forever, but never knew which ones to start with because I've heard people talking about how an audiobook has ruined a reading experience for them
I prefer the sister app to overdrive called Libby- it’s got a really easy and cool platform! But I don’t think as many libraries have it
If you haven’t read these please please do!!!
I decided to read Renegades because of your love for the book and... OMG it was so GOOD! Thanks!!
I couldn't finish The Diviners, and subsequent research into the rest of the series made me so glad I dropped it... BUT! The audio narration - January LaVoy's performance was a bright shining gem, and I'm glad that I waded through half that stinker of a book to find HER.
Always love seeing you on UA-cam. ❤ Great video.
I really love your thumbnail! It's such a nice picture of you and you look so happy.
thank you! ahaha
I started listening to The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. It is amazing. I love the narration. ❤️
I love how she says “consume this book” rather than “read this book” and I don’t even know why
Its 2pm where i live..i started watching this video at 6 am getting ready to go to my classes. so happy you ended up enjoying the series more through audio books :)

Yaaaaas Overdrive/Libby! 😂 I teach old people how to use this at the library I work at and use it regularly myself. So convenient!
I just finished the audio for Renegades yesterday and OMG IT WAS SO GOOD. I'm so glad it made it onto this list!!!
Great list! :)
Thanks for sharing! :)

The Throne of Glass audiobooks are AMAZING
I'm re-reading The Gentleman's Guide this week!! Might try and get my hands on the audiobook
The first ever audiobook I listened to was Stalking Jack the Ripper and it got me hooked, now I am making my way through audio after audio and loving the Lunar Chronicles as audio
The Illuminae audiobook is hands down the best audiobook ever
I enjoyed the Afterlife of Holly Chase. The way the end wrapped up and came full circle was awesome. I’m going to read it again later this year.

I loved the audio for The serpent king by Jeff Zentner.. It has 3 narrators (one per POV) and they were awesome. It’s a great contemporary book and the audio it’s a great way to consume the story..
Steve West’s narration of Strange the Dreamer was the best audio I’ve ever listened to ❤️
So happy to find someone who read Holly Chase! We need a separate support group for readers of that book lol what are you’re thoughts?
I listened to Heartless because of your recommendation and it was AMAZING!! I'm referring back to this video for more awesome audiobooks to listen to!

i felt the same with gemina but i hope you end up enjoying it in the end as i did! :)
emmmabooks Yes! I'm sure I will because it's already reallly good. I just can't get voer how incredible this full cast is. 😍
YES THE DIVINERS AUDIO BOOK IS INCREDIBLE
I’ll really recommend the audio books for the illuminae files. They’re like movies for your ears
The wheel of time series by Robert Jordan is read by Kate Redding and Michael Kramer. The eye of the world is book one. They are amazing!
I have been working my way through The Anne of Green Gables Series on Audiobook and have really been enjoying it.
My library recently told me they have hoopla and i can download the app and download audio books and omgggg im loving it 💕
that's so awesome!!! i love that libraries do this :)
Thanks for all of the recommendations! I’m not a huge audiobook person, but I might look into a few of these!❤️😊
thank YOU for watching!!
Your videos are so good, I'm in love with you now!!! Unfortunately in Brazil we don't have nothing like Overdrive :/ sometimes we don't even have enough books in the library shelves
UA-cam has amazing audiobooks lmao audible's collections are usually available here :)
Jim Dale is AMAZING! Have you seen the tv show pushing daisies? He also narrates that series. Definitely want to check it the afterlife of holly chase. On my TBR!!
