As a physical therapist, I thank you for thinking about these things, and more importantly, actually addressing them and bringing them to the consumers. I love your stuff anyways, but addressing adaptive crafting will help so many of my patients continue with crafting 🥰

By the way I forgot to mention I suffer from Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis especially bad in my spine and fingers/hands. I live for my crafts as this takes me away from my life of pain into a new world of colour, crafting, making and smiling! Even when I go away in our camper because I’m not well enough to fly to a holiday place, I can pack up my mini die machine, pens, dies, Card etc and still continue to craft while on the road!
I’m totally in love with WRMK products and even here in 🇬🇧 U.K. We love WRMK items!
Thank you for thinking of us less fortunate people, we can still craft!

This is the first time I've truly seen a craft company whose trying to be inclusive to those of us with physical limitations. I started my YT channel several years ago because I couldn't find a channel that knew which tools I could and could not use as a person with physical limitations. I'm glad you're venturing into tools for people like myself. Sandy Parker

Oh, that stamp pad holder! Brilliant even without arthritis! And the comfort line is so timely. The lap desk/storage could be improved by having a pillow base or collapsible legs, like a bed tray, to keep the hard edges off our laps. Except for the convenience of built in storage, I think that's a pass for me. (Although now I think on it, we could just put a cushion on our laps and place the lap desk on top.) Looking forward though, to seeing this line expand.

It is so wonderful when a company thinks of ways to help those with issues as we ALL go through the steps of getting older. We hear about the golden yrs, I've yet to see anything but the irony in that statement! We love to craft, we even call our craft room's "our happy place". Thank you for making our crafting time easier. Kudos to We R memory keepers.
God bless you and your family's, stay safe and well.💖💖💖🙋‍♀️

I was recently whining (to myself) about those ink pads and how awkward they are to hold without dropping them and/or making a mess of my hands. It’s about time someone thought of a solution! I hope the ink pad makers will see this and realize that they can improve their ink pad containers and make them more user friendly. In the meantime, we’ll purchase and use those holders. I do wonder about that lap-desk and whether it’s comfortable on the lap. Will it require the addition of a cushion? What stops it from sliding around? I feel like I should be a product tester ;-)

The portable desk... Looks like the top piece of an IKEA Raskog Cart plus a wood cover (which they sell at IKEA too that fits the Raskog Cart)... You really need to add some kind of padding/cushion on the bottom of it. The comfort tools look great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.. although I think the plastic thing to grip your ink pads is quite pricey. I do thank you for coming up with comfort tools for people with arthritis etc as I have RA myself and will most likely buy these tools from you 🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Fantastic tools, I need them all, but WoW soooooo expensive!
Why not sell one of each instead of 3 pen/paintbrush holders?
Just absolutely need the foam holder that attaches to the ink pads, plus the comfort desk that is basically the top part of the trolley and a lid with a plastic cutting board, plastic glasses all just what people like myself need with poor eyesight and arthritis in my hands & fingers. Just amazing, it’s just the heavy price to pay!

So excited to see some ideas for comfort when crafting due to having fibro and arthritis. Once you showed the lap desk you wanted $59.99 for all I could envision was the pain the metal grate against my skin would give me. I could just take my rolling cart apart and get a cutting board from the kitchen and viola! Very disappointed in We R Memory Keepers.

Looks great. I do have chronic pain, (I don't have it set up in my new home but,) I had a drawer of my night stand set up for sewing half square triangles by hand, on days when I need to rest but I want to do a few stitches here and there, and could go back to resting as needed. Anything that helps squeeze a little more out of a day where resting is the priority helps to feel productive and accomplished.

This is a very intriguing line of products. I would love to see adaptations that cater to those with complete or near total vision loss. For instance, it would be great if the ruler featured tactile lines and Braille numbers. Additionally, it would be awesome if the cutting mat featured raised lines as well.

    • @dawnmaree4685
      @dawnmaree4685 3 роки тому +1

Would raised lines on a matcause a problem being cut on? Or create ridges?

    • @lifethroughhereyes3958
      @lifethroughhereyes3958 3 роки тому +2

It depends what you want to use it for, I guess. I am visually impaired, and I would prefer indented lines like on a score board, that doesn’t create indents where they are not wanted.
A cutting machine with indents would be amazing, too! Although most of the adapted materials are so expensive that I can’t justify for myself buying them, even if I would have the money, unless I would use them daily.

    • @tamielizabethallaway2413
      @tamielizabethallaway2413 3 роки тому +1

Surely someone who is that lacking in eyesight is not going to be crafting anyway? Yes crafting is essentially a hobby, something to "do"... But I'd say 75% of it is the enjoyment of the pretty things we buy. Even those who craft to beat boredom, are sick in bed, have little social life, other disabilities, or to keep their minds active etc, do so because the visual enjoyment inspires their creative skills.
I actually don't know ANYONE who crafts for the sake of it, WITHOUT having any interest in the materials. I buy craft stuff sometimes because I just like it and then don't want to use it up! 🙄 A common habit I know among crafters! 😂
As a hobby it's something that pretty much centres around your eyesight, more so than any other sense. I don't think there'd be much of a market for craft products for those bordering on full sight loss... ???
And for those that have bad eyesight, they've already created things for that: glasses, contact lenses, sunlight reactive lenses if glare is a problem, different coloured lenses if colour blindness or dyslexia is a problem, laser eye surgery, craft lamps, spotlights, light boxes, magnifying glasses or screens, bifocals if your vision has short and long sight variations, diabetes checks and medicine to prevent eye problems, vision tests, eye patches to train lazy eyes to focus straight... 🙄
I know those things are not "craft" specific... but they don't need to be, because they're way more than that. They are eyesight specific, which helps all aspects of life and activities.
I mean they already included light up tweezers and light up magnification... I don't know what else a craft product company can be allowed to do other than reproduce their own versions of readily available products that exist anyway? They're not opthalmologists after all!
That could be a lawsuit waiting to happen if they even tried to invent something totally new! Things like the grip handles and padded scissors are already available on the market anyway, through disability aids & equipment providers, or special needs suppliers etc. All WRMK is doing is producing their own version of those disability aids already in existence, but appealing to the craft market to buy such products.
It may be that people need those things in everyday life anyway and already own similar products. But if they don't, they may ONLY need them when doing crafts specifically, and so hadn't thought to go searching specifically for disability gadgets at a craft store! So adding them to their own range grabs some added sales to people who'd think "oooh that's handy" and from a marketing perspective it's a smart move, because it gives the impression that THIS craft company care more than others do - when in reality, other craft companies are "sticking in their lane" by producing craft products only.
The prices of these things are extortionate as well! Think about it, they're not legally allowed to sell medical products or diagnose medical ailments etc, but they can reproduce basic gadgets already out there. And these are VERY BASIC gadgets, make no mistake about that. It's easy to be blown away at their "thoughtfulness" towards their lesser abled customers, when in essence they're only cashing in on those customers, very much CASHING in!
Those scissors and brush grip things could be easily made at home from those dense foam bendy hair rollers that are available 10 for a pound in Poundland, or no doubt a dollar in Dollar Tree or similar. The ones that look like mini pool noodles. Just cut the ends off, slide out the central wired core, slice down one side and pop them around your normal scissor handles. A bit of washi tape will hold them on.
Gripping the ink pads could be done with those rubber noduled caps that go on index fingers usually, I think they call them cots sometimes...? The things they use in a bank or office for flipping through the piles of cash or paperwork so you don't have to keep licking your finger. They come in different sizes, pop one on your index finger and one on your thumb, easy non-slip grip and no ink on fingers!
Rubber reusable household cleaning gloves are cheap too, to serve the same purpose. Those finger cots can only be pennies each from a stationer's shop I'm sure? Better than $9 for one grip you have to keep pulling on and off each ink pad! And they'll only grip IF your inkpad is smooth and clean underneath, if the label starts peeling or leaving residue, or the bottom is dusty or dirty (pretty much inevitable!) no suction grip is going to hold it securely, but the cots or rubber gloves will!
Personally, I think as crafters, we can all make much easier and cheaper ways of getting round these issues ourselves. That's what we love to do, after all...right? We can easily buy cards or journals for cheap, but we prefer making them and figuring out ways to do our own versions. There's nothing new here, except for a new marketing angle from their perspective. I'd rather go directly to a disability aids store for much less money, or figure it out with readily available cheaper alternatives.
Aside from that, if there are sight aids out there that I don't know about, such as the braille ruler you suggested etc, I'm sure the best place to look would be a special needs shop online or something??? There could be tons of gadgets and gizmos out there. But from a craft company, they may have thought "hmmm let's not get too technical, because if someone slices their finger off, they could blame us for our gadget failing" so I can't see them producing things that are VERY specific or to be used in place of common sense or medical advice.
Out of curiosity I'm gonna go hunt see if a braille type ruler exists.... If not, patent it! 😘😘😘

@@tamielizabethallaway2413 yes it does exist! And so do speaking measuring devices, and such. Lots of people who are fully blind do more crafting like knitting or hand sewing, but there are blind artists too, (clay, woodcarving, mixed media, even paint).
I am a very crafty person although I have only 20% of the average eye sight at best. I sew, make cards, have a cricut, paint, work with clay, wood and things like that, but a lot of it is adapted by little tweaks that don’t necessarily require expensive adapted materials.
In my case choice of materials helps a lot. Mainly contrasting fabric and thread, I can feel a lot of things with sewing. (My machine threads itself and always ends up with the needle either totally up or totally down) With the Cricut I need smooth materials, so I can feel the cutlines. (With glitter vinyl I cannot feel the lines, so it makes it almost impossible to weed)
With clay there’s not much boundaries, only working wit tiny tools is difficult,
And everything costs a lot of energy, headaches and all, but it is so worth it being able to create things.
Only creative people can understand why I craft even though it wears me down😊🤦🏻‍♀️

This looks great and it's so nice to see the work for acessability. I like the idea of the laptray but there were a few things that worried me. The hard metal directly on the lap does not seem all to comfortable. The hight. It was a bit hard too see on the video but, depending on the hight I worried that the angle of my arms as I work will be uncomfortable. The space to store stuff is great but, if I can't use it to work on then it's just another box. The top. Maybe have a rim on three sides of the wooden board? From experience with trying to work on stuff in my lap, I move around a lot. With no rim the stuff will just slide right off the board. Though not a too high one, as one want to be able to have paper and stuff off the edge when they are too big.... Just some thoughts when I saw the video that I wanted to share. Thank you for your hard work!

I teach crafts to the elderly for a living. My students wouldn’t care for these….they don’t have problems with the grips, it’s the complication of strength to open and close. So I use Fiskars spring action scissors, which automatically opens the scissors back up and they are recommended by the Arthritis Foundation. All of the other products are good-especially the magnifying glasses. I would LOVE for someone to come up with a fast drying glue. I have to do all the hot glue stuff for them. If I use tacky glue, it won’t hold well enough. Whoever can design a fast drying glue would be rich!!!!

Also, the wood surface will do the same thing on top which will result in lost items needed for projects. Maybe add elastic straps to hold top down to bottom to eliminate the noise and allows us to put things under to keep safe from falling. Maybe offer fatter (wider ink pad grip for the ones who can not close their fingers well but can grip a palm pad). Just a few suggestions. I got plenty more.

Love this! Can't wait till they hit the market. I was just telling myself I wish I had something for my ink pads. I keep getting messy fingers. And that desk is too cool! Perfect way to craft while with the family instead of being holed up in my craft room.

Wow, an Ikea "Raskog" cart basket $39.00 and a Recollection cart top base $9.99. And they want 59.99. They didn't even try hiding the side holes where you attach the legs for the Ikea "Raskog" cart. Bare metal + lap= pain. Sorry but I don't know what they were thinking.

This is what happens when the designers don't actually consult with the market they are targeting. I'm bed bound with RA and numerous co morbidities...I can see problems with every product he showed. I'm sorry but I don't think they are taking this foray into the adaptive market very seriously. I can forsee people, desperate for aids that will help them to continue their hobby, being very disappointed. I sincerely hope they reach out to prospective users and ask for opinions/ideas on how items can be improved before releasing them.

I looked at that and thought..that's the top rack of the raskog also. 🤣 And the price is ridicoulous! I know he said this was a prototype...but hopefully they will come out with a different version. Any crafter knows that we need alot of space, I don't see why anyone would need this. DIY: Just grab a box with a pillow underneath. Boom.

Just an idea. The hard bottom surface of the lap desk may get uncomfortable after a period of time. A soft bottomed surface... maybe even a foam bead filled pillow type surface to conform to the users thighs would be more comfortable. Otherwise, as someone who loves to craft, but deals with hand pain, I love the items.

Brilliant ideas especially for those thata re disabled. I notice the "lap tray" is basically one of the trays from the 3 tier trolleys, is it possible the parts could be sold separately as I already own 3 of these, one has a big shot and holds all my big shot items perfectly. so this would be ideal, no need to have the actual tray part. just need the bamboo worktop, cutting mat etc.

Love the idea.. I think this is much needed in the crafting world... HOWEVER I think the ink pad holder has one flaw, the little tab you have to use to take it back off.. if my hands are not working well (sometimes they don't) how am I supposed to get ahold of that little tab? Just a point of reference. Also, I think $60 is a little steep for a lap craft work surface. With all that said, I love the idea that you are all doing this.. crafting should be accessible to everyone. Thank you.

Make the scissors with a spring open handle and it might be worth it. Carpal tunnel is horrible and pulling open scissors hurts, no matter how padded the handles.

I'm so glad you're finally trying to meet the needs of those of us who have physical differences. I have a love/hate relationship with all of my WRMK items. I'm visually impaired and can't for the life of me figure out who thought it would be a good idea to only indent the measurements on all the punch boards. I'm legally blind so I get that I might have trouble seeing those indentations but most people I've heard talk about your products wish you had add easy to see markings. Obviously, those who design, don't use the product. I wish I could return most of my punch boards and find another company to buy from. That makes me very sad. You make a quality product but you could use a few pointers from real users.

Comfort craft is a great idea. You said some things are still being tested. As a person who is visually impaired, I just want to suggest your designs be tested by persons who are actually sight impaired. So many good intentioned designs end up to be not practical for the visually impaired. Moving in the direction of designing crafting tools for persons with a variety of physical differences is wonderful and will find a market.
Is the large print crafting mat available separately from the lap desk?
Best of luck with your new line of products.
