The single biggest impact daily habit in my life has been to do something nice for Future Me. It can be something big (ticking another to do list item off a day or two early), it can be something small (setting out the supplies I need for the next day's work), it can be tailored to however much energy I have at the time and I always find it easy to do because I want Future Me to have a nice tomorrow. Framing it as a favour to "someone else" seems to be the magic ingredient. You start looking for ways to be nice to yourself, which is v wholesome 10/10 do recommend
I think I should try this because I'm usually horrible to myself when it comes to defining to do lists. It feels like this exercise could help me learn to balance it out

I just wanted to pop in and say thank you. I lost my husband two months ago, after a two and a half year battle with cancer. It wasn't something we were prepared for, we had thought he had more time but his cancer had other plans. Now I am taking care of our two special needs boys, the oldest of whom is disabled, all on my own. I've been sinking into a pit of despair and depression under the pressure/ chaos and finding it increasingly difficult to hold true to promises I made my husband. Promises to stop procrastinating my dreams and to start creating art again. To stop being afraid to fail and to live. Then I found the video you made about finishing projects. And every day, sometimes a few times a day, I would find another video in your list and lights started coming on in my heart and mind. In the last week, through your tricks and content, I've been adapting ways to combat and quiet my anxiety and claw my way out of this pit. I've had breakthroughs that I have been struggling to made for years and it's due to the perspective you offer on your channel and the unique delivery method. So, thank you! I appreciate your content and look forward to seeing more. As for this video, I will be starting the gratitude showers, the two to do lists, the photographing sentimental items and the how is this the best thing to happen to me habits. My house is usually filled with music of one form or the other, as well as candles. I love cedar wick candles. They are wonderful. I've been doing the better plate to the guest for quite a while and love it. And live off the two minute rule, sometimes it's the only way I get anything done. Before doing habits that generally aren't 'fun' while you're doing them (think exercise, doing the dishes, leaving for work, etc.), I use to focus on and visualize the discomfort or pain associated with that task - "this workout is going to be so tiring", "my hands are gonna get gross when I touch the food on my dishes", "work is going to be so boring today". Instead, I've started to focus on the positives associated with those tasks, and visualize the soon to be harvested fruits of my labour - "I'm gonna be so strong if I continue my workout routine", "I love it when my kitchen is clean", "Can't wait to see Harold at work today, that dudes a gem". By focusing on the positives around the tasks I generally viewed as difficult or uncomfortable, I started to change my mindset about starting those tasks. All of a sudden, I was getting dopamine hits from the anticipation of these tasks as I visualized the beneficial and desired outcomes of my efforts! No longer was I thinking, "I HAVE to do this task", but rather, "I GET to do this task". Sometimes all it takes is a shift in perspective to make things more enjoyable :)
Nice, really. I’m in the mindset of “I have to” right now and always heard about the “think about how you GET to” but they never tell you how to get there. I can’t just say “I GET to” five times and bam, it’s embedded in my mind. So thanks for this I’m going to try it because I do dread task just like that. Thank you thank you thank you!
Recently my rule has been: don’t go to bed with dishes in the sink. It’s small. Typically takes 5 minutes to do. And the joy of waking up in the morning with an empty sink is just so wonderful. 10/10

I do this to, it makes me feel organized and it's so nice to have a tidy kitchen when I wake up in the morning to make my coffee, it puts me in a good mood
A tidy kitchen goes with a tidy mind. Before going to work I like to get all the daily life chores done. Because everything is already tidy and minimalist it takes no more than 15 minutes.
My go to weird habit that I've always done is to do at least one bizarre thing a day physically. Could be making some weird noises, could be getting into a character, could just be contorting my body and walking around like a gremlin. It's been the cornerstone of my happiness, It keeps me in touch with my inner child, It helps me not take myself to seriously, and its like a micro-drum circle for my spirit once a day. The biggest bonus is that once you get good at It, you can use It to make other people laugh and smile. It helps other people let their guard down and grow closer to you because they're never worried about whether you think you are too cool for them or that they have to act carefully so that you won't judge them. It's only grown more important to me as the pressures of adult hood threaten to eliminate my sense of humor and awareness that I'm just a goofy hairless bi-pedal creature.
Love these, a habit I started after noticing I usually looked at myself in mirrors with a straight, neutral or even judgmental face, was to smile at myself when I saw me, as I would naturally do to a friend or someone I love, especially in the morning. It reinforced the idea that I was, in fact, someone I love! Such a small shift, but made a big difference
I love playing with expressions in the mirror! Think of different exaggerated scenarios and try different expressions for them, like small smile/curious look/confused look/astonished look, etc. Then you see your face in its range of emotions!
i definetly started doing the "how is the best thing that has ever happened to me" one. last year i had to drop out of my master's degree because of my mental health and i ended up volunteering in poland, i gained experience and now im back to my master's and today i finished my internship, something that a year ago seemed impossible to do
random but good habits: 1) you're not finished an activity until you've tidied up 2) stand up your sponge and hang your dishcloth up 3) having 'mini rituals' for everyday tasks reduces cognitive load. do things in the same order each time (eg. night routine, shower routine, cooking routine, work routine, etc.) 4) have a list of people to keep in touch with so you don't forget anyone. specify an appropriate frequency to contact each person. 5) keep splitting a task into smaller tasks until the first one feels manageable, even if it wouldn't conventionally be seen as a task, eg. check calendar, or get vacuum cleaner. 6) make good use of your freezer 7)if you don't want to do something, journal about it to figure out what is stopping you 8) when making a financial decision, always run the numbers for your individual situation. no general guide will ever be perfect for your situation. eg. should I buy or rent a tool? 9)... but don't automatically feel bad for buying stuff. it might save you money overall, or it might save you time and time is money

You can break it, fix it, modify it etc as much as you want and don't have to care about any payments, rules, the company you rented from going bankrupt etc. In the case of "intellectual property" like software you'll also have to care about getting your service cancelled for no reason. It became VERY common in the past seven years. It literally gives another company full control over your work.
THE FIRST TIP IS SOMETHING IVE DONE FOREVER. I feel so happy giving someone that secret unconscious happiness of having the bigger, yummier and more quality plate of food.

You know, this is weird. I always gave the people around me the better stuff. Then I got greedy, because they were always getting the best and the most, and I realized I was putting myself too far back in the line. Now? I let people do it for themselves. (Doesn't apply when cooking for guests, of course.)

Growing up with a younger sibling I was always taught to give others the 'better' portion but over time I noticed that they were not really reciprocating and kind of took it for granted.... as they were the youngest. This video reminded me to give more again (and maybe help teach my sis a lil awareness and gratitude so I don't get resentful hahaha)

They are great habits except for the incense. This is nearly as bad as smoking. When you're burning incense, you're breathing smoke. Plus you don't really know what's in the incense. There is no strict regulation of the incense industry, and some of them contain all kinds of weird stuff. Carcinogenic.
I do the 2 minute rule. It really does help with clutter and anxiety. Also, as you walk around your house, add the habit of looking for things that need to go to the same room in which you are headed, like a cup or blanket.
I do that too. Having worked in hospitality I had it drilled into me to 'never leave empty handed', so I always grab something that needs going somewhere else. I actually take the stuff up that I put on the stairs, too. ;)
My biggest habit (that is more of a motto that i continue to remind myself) is: Doing some of it is better than doing none of it. It helped through the biggest bouts of my depression, and when I don't feel like doing anything-even in regards to the 2 minute rule (which i try to live by) it motivates me enough
Earlier in my life I heard of the 5 seconds rule. It’s really useful for someone who suffers from mental health issues! It consists in when you have something to do you either count in your head or with a chronometer 5 seconds of doing it, because once you have started you’ll usually want to do it fully. This one thing has really helped me a lot when I was healing from several mental illnesses
When I was going through a rough patch I'd start my day either journaling or thinking of the answer to "What am I afraid of today?" Then I'd find myself debunking all my irrational fears and start my day a bit more centred and in control. When the fears would show up again through the day, I had already figured out their cause and their solution in the morning so it reduced stress. Hope this may help anyone!
I do the same sort of thing if I feel uneasy or something is bothering me; I'll stop and dissect what my uneasy feeling is about. Just the act of dissecting will usually make the source of the fear or uneasiness go away. I have a visual; in biology class we had to dissect a large earth worm. Just The act of dissecting made it disappear into a wet spot. That worm is my visual for cutting up my uneasy fearful thoughts. They just disappear when dissected. Or at least I'll find the real issue that is bothering me and say "oh is that all?"
I divide my to do list in three parts: "Appointments" (for everything that needs to happen at a fixed time, whether it is a video conference, a medical appointment or meeting a friend), "to do" and "want to do". I started the "want to do" list because I realized that I focus too much on what I have to do and too little on what I actually want to spend my time with. "want to do" is for everything from doing a small step towards a longterm goal, spending time on a hobby project, scheduling an hour to read a book I enjoy or going for a walk, or doing one of those tasks that otherwise get pushed to the bottom of the to do list because they are not urgent. When depression hits really hard, I put a few ridiculoulsy little tasks on my to do list that even the most depressed version of me can accomplish, like "go outside for 10 minutes", "take a shower" or "cut fingernails". It feels really good and gives me a sense of having accomplished something when I tick off an item of my to do list - even if it's just cutting my fingernails or taking a shower. Plus, it keeps me from procrastinating on these things, which I often do when I'm really deep down in depression.
this is such a good idea and i will be trying this, thank you! sometimes things i want to improve (like running, learning the drums etc) are listed as a to do and that just takes the fun away a bit. this will definitely be better :)

I have severe anxiety issues coupled with depression and I've slowly gathered some tools (over the years) to make it easier on myself when the anxiety takes hold and panic attacks are a thing. Seriously, not being in control of your body's reaction but fully aware mentally that it's not a big deal this thing you're hyperventilating about? Not fun! The "how is this the best thing that happened to me" I watched in one of your other videos (one of which helped me to start journaling) and it has literally changed my life. It's like learning a new tool to hack your own brain and it's like magic. And writing it down helps me to go back to it later! I never thought of it before, so thank you so much for sharing!! Your channel is crazy inspirational for me!
Here's my habit: Every night when I get in bed with my husband and we're just lying there talking before we go to sleep, I think about how there is nothing else I'd rather be doing and nowhere else I'd rather be. That habit has triggered me to acknowledge that same feeling when it happens in other situations, and I'm surprised how often it crops up. Having a great laugh with a friend, eating something super delicious, even being there to comfort someone I love when they're hurting. It has made me appreciate the day-to-day magic of gratitude.
First of all, thank you ! Another habit I have, and have enforced in this video, is: The moment I learn something new, I try to explain it out loud as if I'm doing so for somebody who knows nothing about it, also, writing it down as well also helps. Doing that forces you to think about the information, and also often reveals what piece of the puzzle you lack, making you an expert and much smarter.
Some of the habits that have helped me: 1. Picking out my clothes the night before and setting out my gym clothes. 2. Listening to audiobooks in the car. 3. Journaling during my lunch break. 4. Doing air squats whenever I'm waiting for something in the microwave or pushups during TV commercials. 5. Only snacking on fruit or nuts. 6. No caffeine or high carbs after lunch. 7. Celebrating/acknowledging little victories (after a workout, when I say no to sweets, etc.) 8. Reading or writing for 30 minutes before bedtime. (No electronics) 9. Feeding the nurturing voice in my head and starving my inner critic. (Counseling myself, outsmarting my inner critic)
A habit that helps me a lot is that I write everything I want to do in a day on my to-do list, not just the work-related or tedious tasks. By also writing fun things on it, the to-do list isn’t this awful, hard thing weighing me down anymore but just a neutral list of stuff I wanna do
Definitely do habit #4, I've recently left my job and am home all the time with my partner and he constantly cracks "how do you not fall asleep", but he never suggests turning off the chill lofi and putting the scented candles out. I think he secretly appreciates the Zen chill space I'm building 😊
My favorite habit is Art Before Dishes. What it means is that I put art first in my day (after breakfast). Art is big, endless and scary, but I have to work on it in some way for some amount of time, before any other task list thing that is easy to accomplish, easy to tick off as complete and requires no fighting resistance. I can do the dishes with my 3pm brain, but my bright 9am brain is sacred and must face the art. Though I'm not sure if this is compatible with the 2 min rule and the minimum requirement, it helps me feel like I'm always working on the big dream. No one gets a prize for a tidy home.
Great list! Making my home cozy and “sanctuary “ has been a big game changer. My cat also helps me stay on track because she has a schedule and of course taking naps with a purring cat is so healing. Love the pups! Animals really make life awesome!
My mom was a hoarder, and then when I ran away at 18 and became homeless for like 6 years, adjusting to NOT holding on to everything has been very hard. I never learned how to organize, and always wanted to hold onto things, especially essentials (or things I deem essential, anyways). It’s a journey, but I’m walking the path and slowly de cluttering corners of my house, and the progress, however small, is still active improvement. I may never have that sleek and modern look in my home, but i have goals that im getting closer to, so I can go to bed (with a small pile of clothes inevitably sitting at the foot of my bed) feeling good about myself.
Yes! I totally practiced habit #2 today; I had a pile of old painting rags that were sentimental to me. They reminded me of the decade long journey I have been on with painting, but they have become unusable and stiff (and maybe a little stinky with old turp). I kept them around because they reminded me of how hard I’ve worked and how many paintings I’ve made to get here. I decided it was time to clear them out of my studio so I took some pictures of them and sent them to the bin. I can personally confirm this is great advice. 👏🏻
One of my biggest ones has been watching your “questions that changed my life” video on a regular basis and journaling on them on a regular basis. Really puts stuff into perspective and helps cover bases with the responsibility bit.
Great list. Similar to the two minute rule I have a "if you touch it now you have to put it away" e.g. the amount of times I was moving my jacket from one chair to the table then to the bench, then to another chair instead of just hanging it up. Or random pile of pens and paper clips around the house instead of just putting it in the stationary drawer. Helps with kids too! Once you touch it, you gotta move it to where it belongs! Takes less than 30 seconds 90% of the time !
The 2-minute rule is like my 'just do 10 things' procrastination shifter: do the next thing that's to hand, like take a dirty plate to the kitchen, hang up a coat, take the rubbish out, etc... things that demand no problem-solving and can be accomplished fast. By the end of the 10 things, the wheels are starting to turn and some of the to-dos are done, making it easier to just continue. I've heard about another strategy for tackling a big chore, which involves just cleaning three metres around you. When that's done, you clean the next three metres and so it goes on until the house is clean. Congratulations on getting so far in the Booktopia competition! thanks for this! i've never heard "just do 10 things", i've heard "just do 10 minutes" of something, but even something as simple as that has never worked for me. 10 things is much more appealing -- i might not have the energy to focus right away, but i can get those 10 little things done and start to build momentum
this relates to triggering positive reactions in negative situations.. I used to freak out every month that I was pregnant (irrationally) and pray that I got my period. Every month I would be so happy that I got my period that I began to associate period cramps with joy and now I almost enjoy the pain (weird, I know but it’s great).

Funny you said "how can I make this the best thing that's ever happened to me?" Quite a few years ago I got sent to prison, for the 2nd time.... and I was thinking about my potential future. And I eventually asked myself this exact question. While I was locked up I took as many classes and courses as possible, volunteered for things, became a TA....and now my life is way better and I'm building my dreams instead of trying to steal them.

There's an interesting point about that first habit, when you always give the guest the better plate, this can also come back to viewing yourself as having low self worth. It's a similar reason people take better care of their family and pets than they do themselves, because they believe they don't deserve to be taken care of. People often "forget" to take their own medication, but this is very rare for those same people's pets. I'm not saying this is a bad habit that will destroy your self image, because I totally see the benefits of it, but I can also see how it relates to the unhealthy habit of viewing yourself as not deserving as good a treatment as everyone else.
Agree! I actually had to teach myself to give myself a nicer plate for the reason you mention - I was having a very low self worth. So my habbit would be the opposite - take care of my own needs before anything else.
I totally agree! I struggled a lot with low confidence and self-worth, and I give my all to my loved ones while at the same time believing that I am unworthy of the same treatment. I understand how that tip would be helpful for some people, but it wouldn't work for me personally.
I was thinking this! When I make food I make sure everyone gets the hour food first. Of course by the time I get to eat, my French Toast is always cold. I've started taking myself into having the first piece; I'm making it, and I deserve to have it hot, even if it is standing in front of the oven like a troll 😂
One of my weird habits as a non-traditional university student (I took 4 gap years and I'm in my second year at 25) is buy the cute/cool thing regardless of price. My best examples are drinking water and writing papers. For drinking more water, get the pretty water bottle, put stickers on it, etc. You are more likely to use it and actually stay hydrated if you like looking at it. For writing papers, I bought myself a fancy pink (in hindsight I should have gotten blue but I was way to excited when I found the pink) typewriter style key board that lights up. So now when I am slaving away on assignments and papers and my own personal creative writing I get the satisfying sound of a typewriter and its really pretty. Live your life for the aesthetic and to take if one step further romanticize your life.

I'm a biologist and I'm blown away by the genius with the cold shower idea. You're boosting your immune system, you're training to think while under stress, you're also practicing discipline, you're boosting your dopamine levels AND conditioning yourself in experiencing gratitude... all just by fucking showering. I love the way you say, when creating the to-do lists, what is the bare minimum I need to get done "in order to not create stress for future me"? I've heard so many people talk about creating a bare minimum to-do list but I always felt like even if I'd complete them I still hadn't accomplished anything. In pondering the way you frame this list, it makes me think, ok, if I want to ensure I'm not creating stress for future me, first I need to identify what stresses future me out the most. Turns out that is financial and health issues, not whether or not I've dusted the counters or scrubbed the sink. So if I only have an hour today to do something to make life less stressful for future me, I should use it to pick up an extra hour at work or go for a walk and get some exercise. I've been doing the cold shower and gratitude combo and I love it. best way to wake up and start the day and the gratitude takes your mind off the cold and makes it even easier. I also like to give boring tasks a little of my own flavour by creating my own methods or patterns and pairing it with something I enjoy eg washing the dishes with listening to music/audiobook or vacuuming in sections, hanging out washing while listening to a podcast, creating a game like how fast can I complete this. I find this makes boring tasks easier and more enjoyable to do!
I also have a "stupid" but efficient unconventional habit, it's become a kind of quick meditation fix for my anxious, rumaging self : I learned that trick from a video on youtube and it's just nuts. I think it was about treating PTSD in unconventional ways without re-living the trauma. I'll try to paraphrase it accurately: What helps humans put things past them is most often a walk, a very long walk. But it has almost nothing to do with the fact that you are walking! It works because when you walk outside, you look left and right to gaze at your environment because you need to be in the present moment, in case anything happens in your surroundings. Our basic human programming, in short. Researchers have proven that, while being still, if you move only your eyes sideways, you can trick your brain into believing you are walking. So when you're hit with unpleasant thoughts, anxiety attacks, or PTSD flashbacks, you can just do that : sit still, but move only your eyes around. A few minutes do the trick! It's personaly been a game changer :) and I hope it helps out more people!
you're awesome. i do a lot of your things. one weird one for me is that when i experience physical pain from an accident, i yell out yes and go accepting and deep into the minor pain. has resonated through different areas of my life. also dancing to music that i hate has done wonders.
The idea of photographing something before you throw it out seems to be really powerful. I struggle to declutter things as I get emotionally attached to them, but I know that I don't use them anymore. Perhaps, this is what I need to finally take better control over this in my life.

One small hack I... uh... know of, but followed for a short time is this: when you have something bigger to do, and just aren't feeling of doing it, ask yourself what's the smallest thing you can do for it. And then do the smallest thing - it's like one small step up the staircase. And then you might feel more like doing it. If not, ask what's another small step to take.
I used to, and sometimes still do, struggle with productivity. I found that giving each day only one productive task that you have to do helps. It’s just one thing that puts you into work mode and anything else is a bonus :)
I definitely want to start making the 2 to-do lists and I’m gonna start today. I remember watching a video where you introduced the method but I didn’t think I needed it. Hey, loved this video, mixing some conventional and unconventional habits. I am with you on the serving the best 🥘 meal to the other person habit, helps me to remember to put others first. The 2 minutes rule for me has been a game changer for me too. To Do list wise I stick with one idea list and just highlight the one most critical thing that needs to happen in that day, I had too much still on my minimum to do list 😞. The don’t missed things twice in a row habit has been good for me, especially with exercise 🏃♂️related habits. Running with my dog every day in western Colorado has been the single best habit I've picked up lately. He's happier, I'm happier, I'm fitter, I'm less anxious (I realized running daily completely cuts my anxiety) and he's a much better behaved dog. Can't stop winning!
Every time I shower after work, I speak aloud how grateful I am for showers. And then that slowly slips into every day life, speaking gratitude for little things. And I've felt much better for doing it.
I recently starting doing one of the habits, so far it's working. I deleted Instagram from my phone. It's only been a week, but I've been focusing more on painting and loving my art instead of stressing over likes and followers. Instagram and social media are scarily addicting. Awesome video. Love the 2 to-do lists idea! My similar hack: in photography, it’s common to dump you entire memory card on the computer, but you typically only end up using a small % of the photos while all the blurry/bad/test shots clutter your hard drive. I go through each photo one by one ON IMPORT, so I know each shot that makes it onto my computer is halfway decent. This uses less computer resources and keeps my photos more organized. In everyday life you can ask yourself, “where am I dealing with waste?” And then, “what would it look like if it were easy?” to come up with a solution. For example, when you check your mailbox, probably only a small % of letters are important; most are junk. Instead of bringing the whole stack in and letting it sit on your kitchen table for a few days, perhaps you have a recycling bin near your mailbox and only bring any important mail into the house. Separately, I recently started folding clothes like Marie Kondo and it’s amazing how much space you get back!

Great list! One habit that changed my life was learning to give everything a home as close to it's point of use as possible (there is a reason coat closets are near the front door) and putting things back as soon as I was done with them.
I've been slowly moving into the two to-do lists---I found it extremely helpful to write down every single things I needed to do, but then when I actually looked at the list to get things done it would constantly overwhelm me to the point where I did nothing. I'm chronically ill so most of my days aren't filled with enough energy to get things done, so if I only have that one giant list I end up doing nothing. having two lists, one small do-or-die and one large everything-for-the-forseeable-future, has been working a lot better.
- dividing my day into 4 periods: morning (me time) -> pre work (admin small work jobs, or study) -> work (I’m a music producer, so this is my studio time) -> night / come down (basically unwinding the day with healthy personal activities or jobs like groceries etc). This has helped massively cos now when it’s the morning / me time, I’m way more present, cos I know that It’s not the time to think or do work stuff, so my stress levels have been way chiller. And I feel super fresh and have way more energy during those serious work hours when that window comes around. Great video as always king x

There's still a lot of things I need to do on the conventional list to improve myself but I was pleasantly surprised to see I already do the first one on this unconventional list. I'm the cook in my household. I like doing it and I'm the more picky eater, but I always offer my sister either first scoops out of the pot or best plate. Because cooking and feeding my love ones good food does give me joy.
My weird "habit": I set my digital time 2 hours later than the actual time. this had helped me fix my sleep schedule tremendously! Also made me more aware of time. :P I absolutely love the two to-do lists habit! I'm gonna give it a try as well since I procrastinate a lot yet I act like I don't whenever I make to-do lists, which ends up in me not completing the list and feeling guilty. 😅 Love your creativity and humor in your videos, please do make more coz it feels nice and cool to watch your vid while drawing :))

Going out with my dog helps me a lot, I stay more time outside, away from any digital distraction (because I don't take phone with me), I make more phisical activity, and it's just relaxing and gives a lot of positive energy to passing time and bonding with your animal

Interesting. As a male, i was apparently taught so early in life to put myself LAST, after all females, all relatives, all friends. It's ingrained so deep that it has been automatic, with even a thought of what I want to do, creating guilt on a scale you CANNOT imagine.
Men are conditioned to go last in much worse situations, if theres theres ever a fire/shooting etc its 'woman and children' saved first and even if we do make it out alive were probs gonna have to run back in to help or sum shit lmaoo

I used to have some of these same habits before I went down a slippery sloping spiral of despair, drug abuse, dependency and self degradation, (wow, look at that alliteration, whew!) and your videos are helping to reframe my inner dialogue and get back to a bit more self love and self discipline! Oh and, it made me feel good because even at my worst, I still served others the prettier dish! Silly but a kind reminder of my better qualities. Same here, it is kinda bad advice for Adhd, I actually do the opposite. Take a task that seems big and get that out of the way. Literally as first thing I do
I have ADHD and it's life changing for me but I've done it my whole life, if I start slacking on the 2 min rule my life falls apart. It only applies to chores tho not yt vids. Honestly watch his whole vid on it, the basic principle is if it only takes 2 mins now then if you don't do it the next time you see it it will take 2mins + the time to remember the thing again + the time to build up the momentum to get up and do the thing + all the other things that have built up (20 dishes instead fo one). I do 30 sec rule though not 2 mins.
I’ve been doing a morning routine and I feel like it helps a bit with creating momentum for my day but that midday slump is killer. Especially if I walk away from work for a little bit, there’s never any going back. Maybe I should create a midday routine as well? Godspeed, everyone!

thanks for sharing cam :) here are some of mine: - say and do what you want to, that better than regretting not saying or doing it - always have good goodbyes to your friends and family -- you never know if you'll ever see them again - if you're every uncomfortable, particularly in a social setting, ask yourself 'what would I do if I were alone?" and follow that (you're doing what you'd like to, not what you should based on other people) - take a breather and some stretches every once in a while

Literally all of these things resonate with me, I thought I was the only one who saw them in their life… I was just explaining to a friend about what love meant to me, and I said it’s being totally happy with eating the soggy fries so your loved ones could have the crispy ones; and I cook for my friends all the time! I LOVE the idea of writing two lists. I will definitely start doing that. Already try to implement the two minute rule. It really does make a difference.
Number 8 is top with me. I automatically do this habit. I had breast cancer and a mastectomy last fall. This March I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Surgery next month. Last week my mom fell and broke both shoulders. My sister and I have been at the hospital around the clock being her arms for EVERYTHING. In each case I default to how is this the best thing that’s ever happened? My mom’s fall told me that my mom and sister were not supposed to go on their planned trip out of state this week. Her fall could have prevented a catastrophic car accident. Both cancers made me look inward on what I really want to do with my life. Your last habit with neuroplasticity made me do a happy dance!! I love your channel. You make a HUGE difference!!

The single biggest impact daily habit in my life has been to do something nice for Future Me. It can be something big (ticking another to do list item off a day or two early), it can be something small (setting out the supplies I need for the next day's work), it can be tailored to however much energy I have at the time and I always find it easy to do because I want Future Me to have a nice tomorrow. Framing it as a favour to "someone else" seems to be the magic ingredient. You start looking for ways to be nice to yourself, which is v wholesome 10/10 do recommend

I just wanted to pop in and say thank you. I lost my husband two months ago, after a two and a half year battle with cancer. It wasn't something we were prepared for, we had thought he had more time but his cancer had other plans. Now I am taking care of our two special needs boys, the oldest of whom is disabled, all on my own. I've been sinking into a pit of despair and depression under the pressure/ chaos and finding it increasingly difficult to hold true to promises I made my husband. Promises to stop procrastinating my dreams and to start creating art again. To stop being afraid to fail and to live. Then I found the video you made about finishing projects. And every day, sometimes a few times a day, I would find another video in your list and lights started coming on in my heart and mind. In the last week, through your tricks and content, I've been adapting ways to combat and quiet my anxiety and claw my way out of this pit. I've had breakthroughs that I have been struggling to made for years and it's due to the perspective you offer on your channel and the unique delivery method. So, thank you! I appreciate your content and look forward to seeing more. As for this video, I will be starting the gratitude showers, the two to do lists, the photographing sentimental items and the how is this the best thing to happen to me habits. My house is usually filled with music of one form or the other, as well as candles. I love cedar wick candles. They are wonderful. I've been doing the better plate to the guest for quite a while and love it. And live off the two minute rule, sometimes it's the only way I get anything done. Before doing habits that generally aren't 'fun' while you're doing them (think exercise, doing the dishes, leaving for work, etc.), I use to focus on and visualize the discomfort or pain associated with that task - "this workout is going to be so tiring", "my hands are gonna get gross when I touch the food on my dishes", "work is going to be so boring today".
Instead, I've started to focus on the positives associated with those tasks, and visualize the soon to be harvested fruits of my labour - "I'm gonna be so strong if I continue my workout routine", "I love it when my kitchen is clean", "Can't wait to see Harold at work today, that dudes a gem".
By focusing on the positives around the tasks I generally viewed as difficult or uncomfortable, I started to change my mindset about starting those tasks. All of a sudden, I was getting dopamine hits from the anticipation of these tasks as I visualized the beneficial and desired outcomes of my efforts!
No longer was I thinking, "I HAVE to do this task", but rather, "I GET to do this task".
Sometimes all it takes is a shift in perspective to make things more enjoyable :)

Recently my rule has been: don’t go to bed with dishes in the sink.
It’s small. Typically takes 5 minutes to do. And the joy of waking up in the morning with an empty sink is just so wonderful. 10/10

A tidy kitchen goes with a tidy mind. Before going to work I like to get all the daily life chores done. Because everything is already tidy and minimalist it takes no more than 15 minutes.

My go to weird habit that I've always done is to do at least one bizarre thing a day physically. Could be making some weird noises, could be getting into a character, could just be contorting my body and walking around like a gremlin.
It's been the cornerstone of my happiness, It keeps me in touch with my inner child, It helps me not take myself to seriously, and its like a micro-drum circle for my spirit once a day.
The biggest bonus is that once you get good at It, you can use It to make other people laugh and smile. It helps other people let their guard down and grow closer to you because they're never worried about whether you think you are too cool for them or that they have to act carefully so that you won't judge them.
It's only grown more important to me as the pressures of adult hood threaten to eliminate my sense of humor and awareness that I'm just a goofy hairless bi-pedal creature.

Love these, a habit I started after noticing I usually looked at myself in mirrors with a straight, neutral or even judgmental face, was to smile at myself when I saw me, as I would naturally do to a friend or someone I love, especially in the morning. It reinforced the idea that I was, in fact, someone I love! Such a small shift, but made a big difference

I love playing with expressions in the mirror! Think of different exaggerated scenarios and try different expressions for them, like small smile/curious look/confused look/astonished look, etc. Then you see your face in its range of emotions!

I only look in the mirror when brushing my teeth or flattening my hair.
I started complimenting myself when I see myself in a reflection, and honestly, my self-confidence has skyrocketed!
i definetly started doing the "how is the best thing that has ever happened to me" one. last year i had to drop out of my master's degree because of my mental health and i ended up volunteering in poland, i gained experience and now im back to my master's and today i finished my internship, something that a year ago seemed impossible to do

random but good habits:
1) you're not finished an activity until you've tidied up
2) stand up your sponge and hang your dishcloth up
3) having 'mini rituals' for everyday tasks reduces cognitive load. do things in the same order each time (eg. night routine, shower routine, cooking routine, work routine, etc.)
4) have a list of people to keep in touch with so you don't forget anyone. specify an appropriate frequency to contact each person.
5) keep splitting a task into smaller tasks until the first one feels manageable, even if it wouldn't conventionally be seen as a task, eg. check calendar, or get vacuum cleaner.
6) make good use of your freezer
7)if you don't want to do something, journal about it to figure out what is stopping you
8) when making a financial decision, always run the numbers for your individual situation. no general guide will ever be perfect for your situation. eg. should I buy or rent a tool?
9)... but don't automatically feel bad for buying stuff. it might save you money overall, or it might save you time and time is money

Do people actually feel bad for buying their own tools? At the very least it's much SAFER than renting. You can break it, fix it, modify it etc as much as you want and don't have to care about any payments, rules, the company you rented from going bankrupt etc.
In the case of "intellectual property" like software you'll also have to care about getting your service cancelled for no reason. It became VERY common in the past seven years. It literally gives another company full control over your work.
THE FIRST TIP IS SOMETHING IVE DONE FOREVER. I feel so happy giving someone that secret unconscious happiness of having the bigger, yummier and more quality plate of food.

You know, this is weird. I always gave the people around me the better stuff. Then I got greedy, because they were always getting the best and the most, and I realized I was putting myself too far back in the line. Now? I let people do it for themselves. (Doesn't apply when cooking for guests, of course.)

Growing up with a younger sibling I was always taught to give others the 'better' portion but over time I noticed that they were not really reciprocating and kind of took it for granted.... as they were the youngest. This video reminded me to give more again (and maybe help teach my sis a lil awareness and gratitude so I don't get resentful hahaha)

They are great habits except for the incense. This is nearly as bad as smoking. When you're burning incense, you're breathing smoke. Plus you don't really know what's in the incense. There is no strict regulation of the incense industry, and some of them contain all kinds of weird stuff. Carcinogenic.
I do the 2 minute rule. It really does help with clutter and anxiety.
Also, as you walk around your house, add the habit of looking for things that need to go to the same room in which you are headed, like a cup or blanket.
I do that too. Having worked in hospitality I had it drilled into me to 'never leave empty handed', so I always grab something that needs going somewhere else. I actually take the stuff up that I put on the stairs, too. ;)
My biggest habit (that is more of a motto that i continue to remind myself) is: Doing some of it is better than doing none of it. It helped through the biggest bouts of my depression, and when I don't feel like doing anything-even in regards to the 2 minute rule (which i try to live by) it motivates me enough

Earlier in my life I heard of the 5 seconds rule. It’s really useful for someone who suffers from mental health issues! It consists in when you have something to do you either count in your head or with a chronometer 5 seconds of doing it, because once you have started you’ll usually want to do it fully. This one thing has really helped me a lot when I was healing from several mental illnesses

When I was going through a rough patch I'd start my day either journaling or thinking of the answer to "What am I afraid of today?" Then I'd find myself debunking all my irrational fears and start my day a bit more centred and in control. When the fears would show up again through the day, I had already figured out their cause and their solution in the morning so it reduced stress. Hope this may help anyone!

I do the same sort of thing if I feel uneasy or something is bothering me; I'll stop and dissect what my uneasy feeling is about. Just the act of dissecting will usually make the source of the fear or uneasiness go away. I have a visual; in biology class we had to dissect a large earth worm. Just The act of dissecting made it disappear into a wet spot. That worm is my visual for cutting up my uneasy fearful thoughts. They just disappear when dissected. Or at least I'll find the real issue that is bothering me and say "oh is that all?"
I divide my to do list in three parts: "Appointments" (for everything that needs to happen at a fixed time, whether it is a video conference, a medical appointment or meeting a friend), "to do" and "want to do". I started the "want to do" list because I realized that I focus too much on what I have to do and too little on what I actually want to spend my time with. "want to do" is for everything from doing a small step towards a longterm goal, spending time on a hobby project, scheduling an hour to read a book I enjoy or going for a walk, or doing one of those tasks that otherwise get pushed to the bottom of the to do list because they are not urgent.
When depression hits really hard, I put a few ridiculoulsy little tasks on my to do list that even the most depressed version of me can accomplish, like "go outside for 10 minutes", "take a shower" or "cut fingernails". It feels really good and gives me a sense of having accomplished something when I tick off an item of my to do list - even if it's just cutting my fingernails or taking a shower. Plus, it keeps me from procrastinating on these things, which I often do when I'm really deep down in depression.
this is such a good idea and i will be trying this, thank you! sometimes things i want to improve (like running, learning the drums etc) are listed as a to do and that just takes the fun away a bit. this will definitely be better :)

I have severe anxiety issues coupled with depression and I've slowly gathered some tools (over the years) to make it easier on myself when the anxiety takes hold and panic attacks are a thing. Seriously, not being in control of your body's reaction but fully aware mentally that it's not a big deal this thing you're hyperventilating about? Not fun! The "how is this the best thing that happened to me" I watched in one of your other videos (one of which helped me to start journaling) and it has literally changed my life. It's like learning a new tool to hack your own brain and it's like magic. And writing it down helps me to go back to it later! I never thought of it before, so thank you so much for sharing!! Your channel is crazy inspirational for me!
Here's my habit: Every night when I get in bed with my husband and we're just lying there talking before we go to sleep, I think about how there is nothing else I'd rather be doing and nowhere else I'd rather be. That habit has triggered me to acknowledge that same feeling when it happens in other situations, and I'm surprised how often it crops up. Having a great laugh with a friend, eating something super delicious, even being there to comfort someone I love when they're hurting. It has made me appreciate the day-to-day magic of gratitude.

The moment I learn something new, I try to explain it out loud as if I'm doing so for somebody who knows nothing about it, also, writing it down as well also helps.
Doing that forces you to think about the information, and also often reveals what piece of the puzzle you lack, making you an expert and much smarter.

Over 2020 and 2021 this channel became one of my favorites. So proud and stoked that your book and animation studio are popping off.

Some of the habits that have helped me:
1. Picking out my clothes the night before and setting out my gym clothes.
2. Listening to audiobooks in the car.
3. Journaling during my lunch break.
4. Doing air squats whenever I'm waiting for something in the microwave or pushups during TV commercials.
5. Only snacking on fruit or nuts.
6. No caffeine or high carbs after lunch.
7. Celebrating/acknowledging little victories (after a workout, when I say no to sweets, etc.)
8. Reading or writing for 30 minutes before bedtime. (No electronics)
9. Feeding the nurturing voice in my head and starving my inner critic. (Counseling myself, outsmarting my inner critic)
I love this channel, it's obvious this is lived advice and not something everyone learns from reading a mass market self-help book
A habit that helps me a lot is that I write everything I want to do in a day on my to-do list, not just the work-related or tedious tasks. By also writing fun things on it, the to-do list isn’t this awful, hard thing weighing me down anymore but just a neutral list of stuff I wanna do
Definitely do habit #4, I've recently left my job and am home all the time with my partner and he constantly cracks "how do you not fall asleep", but he never suggests turning off the chill lofi and putting the scented candles out. I think he secretly appreciates the Zen chill space I'm building 😊
My favorite habit is Art Before Dishes. What it means is that I put art first in my day (after breakfast). Art is big, endless and scary, but I have to work on it in some way for some amount of time, before any other task list thing that is easy to accomplish, easy to tick off as complete and requires no fighting resistance. I can do the dishes with my 3pm brain, but my bright 9am brain is sacred and must face the art. Though I'm not sure if this is compatible with the 2 min rule and the minimum requirement, it helps me feel like I'm always working on the big dream. No one gets a prize for a tidy home.

Great list! Making my home cozy and “sanctuary “ has been a big game changer. My cat also helps me stay on track because she has a schedule and of course taking naps with a purring cat is so healing. Love the pups! Animals really make life awesome!
My mom was a hoarder, and then when I ran away at 18 and became homeless for like 6 years, adjusting to NOT holding on to everything has been very hard. I never learned how to organize, and always wanted to hold onto things, especially essentials (or things I deem essential, anyways). It’s a journey, but I’m walking the path and slowly de cluttering corners of my house, and the progress, however small, is still active improvement. I may never have that sleek and modern look in my home, but i have goals that im getting closer to, so I can go to bed (with a small pile of clothes inevitably sitting at the foot of my bed) feeling good about myself.
"Self-development" videos are here to remind of us what we already know and guilt us into doing those things.

Yes! I totally practiced habit #2 today; I had a pile of old painting rags that were sentimental to me. They reminded me of the decade long journey I have been on with painting, but they have become unusable and stiff (and maybe a little stinky with old turp). I kept them around because they reminded me of how hard I’ve worked and how many paintings I’ve made to get here. I decided it was time to clear them out of my studio so I took some pictures of them and sent them to the bin. I can personally confirm this is great advice. 👏🏻
One of my biggest ones has been watching your “questions that changed my life” video on a regular basis and journaling on them on a regular basis. Really puts stuff into perspective and helps cover bases with the responsibility bit.
i actually do something similar. whenever I'm not feeling great, i just watch a few of struthless videos that I know affect me. it helps a lot.
Great list. Similar to the two minute rule I have a "if you touch it now you have to put it away" e.g. the amount of times I was moving my jacket from one chair to the table then to the bench, then to another chair instead of just hanging it up. Or random pile of pens and paper clips around the house instead of just putting it in the stationary drawer. Helps with kids too! Once you touch it, you gotta move it to where it belongs! Takes less than 30 seconds 90% of the time !
The 2-minute rule is like my 'just do 10 things' procrastination shifter: do the next thing that's to hand, like take a dirty plate to the kitchen, hang up a coat, take the rubbish out, etc... things that demand no problem-solving and can be accomplished fast. By the end of the 10 things, the wheels are starting to turn and some of the to-dos are done, making it easier to just continue. I've heard about another strategy for tackling a big chore, which involves just cleaning three metres around you. When that's done, you clean the next three metres and so it goes on until the house is clean. Congratulations on getting so far in the Booktopia competition! I bought your book the other day, actually, so it was nice to be able vote for it.

thanks for this! i've never heard "just do 10 things", i've heard "just do 10 minutes" of something, but even something as simple as that has never worked for me. 10 things is much more appealing -- i might not have the energy to focus right away, but i can get those 10 little things done and start to build momentum

this relates to triggering positive reactions in negative situations.. I used to freak out every month that I was pregnant (irrationally) and pray that I got my period. Every month I would be so happy that I got my period that I began to associate period cramps with joy and now I almost enjoy the pain (weird, I know but it’s great).

Quite a few years ago I got sent to prison, for the 2nd time.... and I was thinking about my potential future. And I eventually asked myself this exact question. While I was locked up I took as many classes and courses as possible, volunteered for things, became a TA....and now my life is way better and I'm building my dreams instead of trying to steal them.

There's an interesting point about that first habit, when you always give the guest the better plate, this can also come back to viewing yourself as having low self worth.
It's a similar reason people take better care of their family and pets than they do themselves, because they believe they don't deserve to be taken care of.
People often "forget" to take their own medication, but this is very rare for those same people's pets.
I'm not saying this is a bad habit that will destroy your self image, because I totally see the benefits of it, but I can also see how it relates to the unhealthy habit of viewing yourself as not deserving as good a treatment as everyone else.
Agree! I actually had to teach myself to give myself a nicer plate for the reason you mention - I was having a very low self worth. So my habbit would be the opposite - take care of my own needs before anything else.

I totally agree! I struggled a lot with low confidence and self-worth, and I give my all to my loved ones while at the same time believing that I am unworthy of the same treatment. I understand how that tip would be helpful for some people, but it wouldn't work for me personally.
I was thinking this! When I make food I make sure everyone gets the hour food first. Of course by the time I get to eat, my French Toast is always cold. I've started taking myself into having the first piece; I'm making it, and I deserve to have it hot, even if it is standing in front of the oven like a troll 😂

One of my weird habits as a non-traditional university student (I took 4 gap years and I'm in my second year at 25) is buy the cute/cool thing regardless of price. My best examples are drinking water and writing papers. For drinking more water, get the pretty water bottle, put stickers on it, etc. You are more likely to use it and actually stay hydrated if you like looking at it. For writing papers, I bought myself a fancy pink (in hindsight I should have gotten blue but I was way to excited when I found the pink) typewriter style key board that lights up. So now when I am slaving away on assignments and papers and my own personal creative writing I get the satisfying sound of a typewriter and its really pretty. Live your life for the aesthetic and to take if one step further romanticize your life.
I usually write in purple ink because it looks pretty but it’s easy to see and I use pink for number or bullet points etc

I love the way you say, when creating the to-do lists, what is the bare minimum I need to get done "in order to not create stress for future me"? I've heard so many people talk about creating a bare minimum to-do list but I always felt like even if I'd complete them I still hadn't accomplished anything. In pondering the way you frame this list, it makes me think, ok, if I want to ensure I'm not creating stress for future me, first I need to identify what stresses future me out the most. Turns out that is financial and health issues, not whether or not I've dusted the counters or scrubbed the sink. So if I only have an hour today to do something to make life less stressful for future me, I should use it to pick up an extra hour at work or go for a walk and get some exercise. Excellent video, as always!
I've been doing the cold shower and gratitude combo and I love it. best way to wake up and start the day and the gratitude takes your mind off the cold and makes it even easier.
I also like to give boring tasks a little of my own flavour by creating my own methods or patterns and pairing it with something I enjoy eg washing the dishes with listening to music/audiobook or vacuuming in sections, hanging out washing while listening to a podcast, creating a game like how fast can I complete this.
I find this makes boring tasks easier and more enjoyable to do!
I also have a "stupid" but efficient unconventional habit, it's become a kind of quick meditation fix for my anxious, rumaging self :
I learned that trick from a video on youtube and it's just nuts. I think it was about treating PTSD in unconventional ways without re-living the trauma. I'll try to paraphrase it accurately:
What helps humans put things past them is most often a walk, a very long walk. But it has almost nothing to do with the fact that you are walking! It works because when you walk outside, you look left and right to gaze at your environment because you need to be in the present moment, in case anything happens in your surroundings. Our basic human programming, in short.
Researchers have proven that, while being still, if you move only your eyes sideways, you can trick your brain into believing you are walking. So when you're hit with unpleasant thoughts, anxiety attacks, or PTSD flashbacks, you can just do that : sit still, but move only your eyes around. A few minutes do the trick!
It's personaly been a game changer :) and I hope it helps out more people!

you're awesome. i do a lot of your things. one weird one for me is that when i experience physical pain from an accident, i yell out yes and go accepting and deep into the minor pain. has resonated through different areas of my life. also dancing to music that i hate has done wonders.
The idea of photographing something before you throw it out seems to be really powerful. I struggle to declutter things as I get emotionally attached to them, but I know that I don't use them anymore. Perhaps, this is what I need to finally take better control over this in my life.

One small hack I... uh... know of, but followed for a short time is this: when you have something bigger to do, and just aren't feeling of doing it, ask yourself what's the smallest thing you can do for it. And then do the smallest thing - it's like one small step up the staircase. And then you might feel more like doing it. If not, ask what's another small step to take.
I used to, and sometimes still do, struggle with productivity. I found that giving each day only one productive task that you have to do helps. It’s just one thing that puts you into work mode and anything else is a bonus :)
I definitely want to start making the 2 to-do lists and I’m gonna start today. I remember watching a video where you introduced the method but I didn’t think I needed it. Hey, loved this video, mixing some conventional and unconventional habits. I am with you on the serving the best 🥘 meal to the other person habit, helps me to remember to put others first. The 2 minutes rule for me has been a game changer for me too. To Do list wise I stick with one idea list and just highlight the one most critical thing that needs to happen in that day, I had too much still on my minimum to do list 😞. The don’t missed things twice in a row habit has been good for me, especially with exercise 🏃♂️related habits. Running with my dog every day in western Colorado has been the single best habit I've picked up lately. He's happier, I'm happier, I'm fitter, I'm less anxious (I realized running daily completely cuts my anxiety) and he's a much better behaved dog. Can't stop winning!

Every time I shower after work, I speak aloud how grateful I am for showers. And then that slowly slips into every day life, speaking gratitude for little things. And I've felt much better for doing it.
I recently starting doing one of the habits, so far it's working.
I deleted Instagram from my phone. It's only been a week, but I've been focusing more on painting and loving my art instead of stressing over likes and followers.
Instagram and social media are scarily addicting.

My similar hack: in photography, it’s common to dump you entire memory card on the computer, but you typically only end up using a small % of the photos while all the blurry/bad/test shots clutter your hard drive. I go through each photo one by one ON IMPORT, so I know each shot that makes it onto my computer is halfway decent. This uses less computer resources and keeps my photos more organized.
In everyday life you can ask yourself, “where am I dealing with waste?” And then, “what would it look like if it were easy?” to come up with a solution.
For example, when you check your mailbox, probably only a small % of letters are important; most are junk. Instead of bringing the whole stack in and letting it sit on your kitchen table for a few days, perhaps you have a recycling bin near your mailbox and only bring any important mail into the house.
Separately, I recently started folding clothes like Marie Kondo and it’s amazing how much space you get back!

Great list! One habit that changed my life was learning to give everything a home as close to it's point of use as possible (there is a reason coat closets are near the front door) and putting things back as soon as I was done with them.
I've been slowly moving into the two to-do lists---I found it extremely helpful to write down every single things I needed to do, but then when I actually looked at the list to get things done it would constantly overwhelm me to the point where I did nothing. I'm chronically ill so most of my days aren't filled with enough energy to get things done, so if I only have that one giant list I end up doing nothing. having two lists, one small do-or-die and one large everything-for-the-forseeable-future, has been working a lot better.

- dividing my day into 4 periods: morning (me time) -> pre work (admin small work jobs, or study) -> work (I’m a music producer, so this is my studio time) -> night / come down (basically unwinding the day with healthy personal activities or jobs like groceries etc).
This has helped massively cos now when it’s the morning / me time, I’m way more present, cos I know that It’s not the time to think or do work stuff, so my stress levels have been way chiller. And I feel super fresh and have way more energy during those serious work hours when that window comes around.

There's still a lot of things I need to do on the conventional list to improve myself but I was pleasantly surprised to see I already do the first one on this unconventional list.
I'm the cook in my household. I like doing it and I'm the more picky eater, but I always offer my sister either first scoops out of the pot or best plate. Because cooking and feeding my love ones good food does give me joy.

My weird "habit": I set my digital time 2 hours later than the actual time. this had helped me fix my sleep schedule tremendously! Also made me more aware of time. :P

Going out with my dog helps me a lot, I stay more time outside, away from any digital distraction (because I don't take phone with me), I make more phisical activity, and it's just relaxing and gives a lot of positive energy to passing time and bonding with your animal

Interesting. As a male, i was apparently taught so early in life to put myself LAST, after all females, all relatives, all friends. It's ingrained so deep that it has been automatic, with even a thought of what I want to do, creating guilt on a scale you CANNOT imagine.
Nothing to do with being a woman, it's being raised as a decent person. Gentlemen literally put "ladies first" in almost everything they do.
Men are conditioned to go last in much worse situations, if theres theres ever a fire/shooting etc its 'woman and children' saved first and even if we do make it out alive were probs gonna have to run back in to help or sum shit lmaoo

I used to have some of these same habits before I went down a slippery sloping spiral of despair, drug abuse, dependency and self degradation, (wow, look at that alliteration, whew!) and your videos are helping to reframe my inner dialogue and get back to a bit more self love and self discipline! I have ADHD and it's life changing for me but I've done it my whole life, if I start slacking on the 2 min rule my life falls apart. It only applies to chores tho not yt vids.
Honestly watch his whole vid on it, the basic principle is if it only takes 2 mins now then if you don't do it the next time you see it it will take 2mins + the time to remember the thing again + the time to build up the momentum to get up and do the thing + all the other things that have built up (20 dishes instead fo one). I do 30 sec rule though not 2 mins.

- if you're every uncomfortable, particularly in a social setting, ask yourself 'what would I do if I were alone?" and follow that (you're doing what you'd like to, not what you should based on other people)
- take a breather and some stretches every once in a while

Literally all of these things resonate with me, I thought I was the only one who saw them in their life… I was just explaining to a friend about what love meant to me, and I said it’s being totally happy with eating the soggy fries so your loved ones could have the crispy ones; and I cook for my friends all the time! My apartment feels like you’re at the spa, and if the weather is nice, I’m outside as much as possible. Great stuff, thanks!
My problem with de-cluttering lies in the fact that I hate to create garbage out of stuff that can still be of use. It's a huge problem.
I LOVE the idea of writing two lists. I will definitely start doing that. Already try to implement the two minute rule. It really does make a difference.
Number 8 is top with me. I automatically do this habit. I had breast cancer and a mastectomy last fall. This March I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Surgery next month. Last week my mom fell and broke both shoulders. My sister and I have been at the hospital around the clock being her arms for EVERYTHING. In each case I default to how is this the best thing that’s ever happened? My mom’s fall told me that my mom and sister were not supposed to go on their planned trip out of state this week. Her fall could have prevented a catastrophic car accident. Both cancers made me look inward on what I really want to do with my life. Your last habit with neuroplasticity made me do a happy dance!! I love your channel. You make a HUGE difference!!
I am so grateful I found your channel. You have no idea how much your videos have helped me in my personal growth journal. Some stuff are things I've heard before but the way you explain them just make sense like your journaling video.
