    Thinking about my "potential" gives me axienty. I don't want to think about huge goals, I want to feel rested for once. I want to learn how to rest without feeling guilty about not doing something "productive". I want to learn how to enjoy life. I don't want to base my selfworth on how much I produce or achived.

    I think it's also important to recognize that sometimes what is considered "full potential" is what society normalizes as being what everyone should want. For example, complacency about the wedding could also be a sign you want a smaller, more intimate, wedding. But it's often hard to draw strict lines between these two notions. Trust me, I had a smaller wedding and it turned out to have all the problems of a big wedding!

      @anakrajinovic1767 2 роки тому +6

      @@zeyneplucy9250 I don't think I have any real tips, I guess it's just a process of sometimes buying in the story of "full potential" and going for it full on (in the sense of what society says) and sometimes resting and thinking again about what feels right and what doesn't and taking that knowledge to redefine what "full potential" means to you. It also changes during your life, as your priorities shift. I guess the key is to continue questioning the mainstream ideas, but still take from them whatever works for you. Hope that helps!

I know of a miserable heart surgeon whose the head of an entire ICU and he could care less about anyone dying anymore. I bet he’s going to the grave with regret. It is meaningless until you find self love. Achieving goals doesn’t always equal self love. Accept yourself now and you will die fulfilled. Much love and wishes of healing to those who need it.

      There's an interview with William Shatner in the Briddish newspaper The Grauniad where he basically says 'take it easy, nothing matters' but also says if he'd have known that when he was young he wouldn't have gotten anything done. I think Mr Struthless is just using these images as a way to get viewers to think about our priorities more than being literally true.
      PS love the video, it really helped me as I struggle with being a young Shatner who learned nothing matters too early (metaphorically. Literally I am actually a young Dave who needs occasional reminders that I can do more with my life).

    I have a small trick to help overcome that initial bump a lot of us experience when overcoming complacency. I call it "No Option." When you find it hard to do that thing you want or need to do, imagine a worst case scenario of you not doing that thing. Once you have the worst case scenario, tell yourself that "this is not an option" and immediately do it. I've been doing it for a couple of months now and it has been a lot easier to get things done. So much "live your best life" advice is given in the tone of "all those things stopping you are just excuses!!" Which is so tone-deaf to anyone with differing life circumstances that it just sours the whole concept. I like how you said "there's nothing wrong with you" because little things like that really do make the difference.

    The first video I watched from you is probably the one when you made a video instead of doing drugs. I’m so happy to see you thriving, you seem genuinely so happy and excited for what’s to come. This content is one of the best on youtube. As an artist I’m so lost at the moment if I picked the right career path and all of your self-help tricks have made such a difference for me comparing to all of the others. It’s super relatable. The pressure I feel is significantly smaller after I watch one of your videos and implement the actions you suggest. Journaling is so important, just putting your thoughts on a paper is half of it. I feel like I’m not so lost anymore and even thought I have such vague goals, I know that I will find my way and that everybody has their tempo. Wish you the best and thank you. You are doing something very meaningful and important! ❤️

    Currently binging all of your videos in a “time to get most of my sh*t together before I’m 30 so I can thank myself” spiral. Maybe I’ll meander back to this video in 5 years for an update lol - good stuff man.

    thank you for giving advice that relates to the average human experience instead of making every one of your viewers feel as if they're underperforming. It's crazy to me that up until this point i haven't found someone explain the step-by-step process of self improvement in a way that doesn't make me feel like i'm not trying hard enough, even when it feels like i'm doing everything i can.

    I really appreciate that little disclaimer, as someone with chronic health conditions and a shitty life, it can be disheartening to receive advice from someone with a more privileged perspective.
    "Just backpack around the world/ find a guru/ just hop in your private jet and spend a weekend in Paris with your imaginary boyfriend/ just hang out with the friends and family you don't have/ just get therapy even if you can't afford it/ just leave the house even though you're crippled with anxiety"
    Thanks Karen...

    really great relatable video. most videos will string you to the next and without answering key questions, or answering them clear enough. this reminds me of a teacher breaking down something seemingly complicated into smaller easier to comprehend steps that make you think duh I can do anything after learning how obvious this is.

    I made some steps today to start the process of developing new heirloom tomato varieties. This is likely an 8 year process or so, but I’ll be growing tomatoes anyway, might as well start this experiment. I see myself as a seed saver/protector and developer and new and wonderful heirloom tomato varieties.

    I don´t think I´ve ever seen anyone creating videos like you do. How you explain everything from your own experience, how you always break it down in specific points/parts/steps, how you always incorporate journaling and motivate us to do the same (cuz it really is on of the best tools seeing your thoughts/feelings in front of you on a piece of paper, and then analyzing them). I am just amazed by your videos. They lift me up, makes me feel motivated and most importatntly they make me feel not alone with these kind of problems. And the fact that with these 10 minutes you literally give us a toolkit for our brain, which is really useful I think. So yeah, basically thank you so so much for being here and sharing your life advices :)

    thankyou so much for these videos, I cannot tell you how much these put into words and perspective the things and concepts I needed to understand. Ive been fighting this unknown problem in my life for so long, a discontent with where I am and where Im going, that I lost sight of where to even begin- overwhelming myself into a constant state of complacency.
    So thankyou for these videos!! you so wonderfully describe and explain these things in a way that makes sense, and ways that I can directly apply them to myself here and now. I'm really grateful for it and I'm feeling excited to actually have a little cup list to work through and get myself started on that spiral haha one baby step at a time.

    I know this is an older video but I just found you a few weeks ago on UA-cam and you have helped me come to terms with so many things in my life. I travel for work and have a hard time being in a new location ever 2 weeks because it makes it very difficult to work on myself when it comes to hobbies or the gym or at home to do lists. But you helped me realize that it's okay to not always rush to get things done. I'm often someone who works myself until I'm sick, relax to recover from sickness, and then rinse and repeat the process. I'm actively sick right now so go figure haha but you are helping me realize I need to change my life and take better care of myself and specifically take care of my mental health. Thank you for the videos and the actual positivity you put in this world. Thank you
