Magnus Carlsen played this move for the first time ever against Jan Krystoff Duda in the 2024 Warsaw Rapid tournament, and oh boy was this an exciting game! So what’s the idea behind 3.h3!? It’s simple - Magnus wants to play g4 and start a kingside attack before developing the rest of his pieces!
From there Magnus transpsoes to some sort of delayed open Sicilian, and while I don’t want to give away the entire game here, let me just tell you that you do NOT want to miss the wild tactics from this game!
