24 Bolt Action Battle Report: Doubles in the Dunes. North Africa DAK vs 8th Army doubles match.

- Another Bolt Action battle report and this week to celebrate the glorious sunny weather we are having here in the UK we have decided to do a desert battle set in the dunes of North Africa.
Again we have a fairly new player join us for this weeks doubles battle with each player fielding 750 point army. Helena, as a relatively new player try’s her hand at Bolt Action with her new desert 8th army, Indian Division.
Teamed up with my Indian division we take on the might of the Deutches Afrika Korps seeing both Stew and Olaf bring their desert Germans force to the field. A slight amended scenario, but essentially fight your way to victory and most dice taken wins!
Another great battle, fantastic board and a few laughs and banter along the way…
…but who will win, watch and see!

Loving your vids and battle reports. I'm completely new to this game and it looks to me that you want an army that throws as many dice in the shooting phase as possible, especially with those high roll requirements.

I always try to get the most from a unit, so of you can get a shot in, get behind cover and don’t bunch up… HE will punish you 💥

Thank you, this is my kitchen table, which is great due to lots of light in the room, although sunny days can cast shadows on the board, but all in all it is good to have an open space to facilitate our games.

Indian special rules gives a free Early War Section which doesn’t have access to SMGs and you have to pay for the LMG
Unless you only have enough figures to have nco with smg, because that is how you built them 😂
It’s just a friendly game with a new player, so what is important to us is to have fun and share with others… we all had fun, hopefully you enjoyed it!?
Great Battle Report, table looks amazing. I cover Konflikt 47 mostly, but I love me some Bolt Action especially doubles! Sub'd and excited to see more!

Can Bolt Action be played with Cowboys like Dead Man's Hand, Gunfighter's Ball, Fistful of Lead, or What a Cowboy?
I don’t see why not, although it is a squad based system… there are rules you can download for Bolt Action that run each member of the squad on their own dive, it’s called Firefight, so I guess you could work out some stats for the cowboys?
How did you make all your blast/explosion markers? They look great.
Hi, thanks for the comment, was a fun game for sure!
The blast markers are a mix:
1. Warlord Games sell explosion markers for cruel seas, but these are a little on the small side.
2. I made my own using wire/spare sprue, hot glue them together for the basic shape, then cover with loads of glue and stick bits of foam blended into small pieces (using a food processor). Once dry, cover with watered down PCA to seal, then spray black and add a little dry brushing!

The downed aircraft was 1/56 I believe, a model bought off of eBay and made to look damaged.
Some of those Germans looked to have been shipped to the wrong front (greatcoats)😂😂 But they look fantastic
Yes Olaf likes to have a mix of Germans… he likes to remind me that it’s cold at night in North Africa!
Maybe they are just avoiding a sunburn. 😂

Thanks, unfortunately this is all just recorded on my mobile, audio, visual and editing... so everything is limited to capability of the iPhone.... so if the others are quiet spoken then it is hard to pick it up... hopefully you still enjoyed it.

Some are John Banks,some are TT combats older adobe range. All very easy to put together if you have a small amount of modelling know how.
One of the larger ones is a random ebay seller that also does a stall at the shows like Salute but can't remember the company name.It might be something like Blotz He does lots of mdf bases and movement trays too. Did a lot of air brush shadowing with a dark brown around the bottom of the buildings and on the roofs to give a more realistic look as they can be quite FLAT looking in just one colour.
