Yes because as mentioned in VideoGameBootCamp's 1st DI vid, you can air dodge earlier than you can bring out an aerial. This would probably only be useful if the character you are using has a canceling momentum move as you lose the ability to fast fall that you can do with an aerial. You'd also want to take into account the time it takes to do each option and if you are sent flying vertically or horizontally.
You know.. No video I've seen actually clarifies WHEN to hold the joystick for DI'ing. People who don't know anything about it will wonder if you can just hold it before the attack, or if you do it during hitlag, or if you hold if after you're launched
@dynomite31 each character has a bubble inside of them that corresponds with the blast zone. once that bubble is completely in the zone, the character dies. when wario's bike comes out, it does not alter that bubble. if he dies, it's not because the bike.
@Poltergust probably because the egg roll doesnt give u much side movement and all u can do afterward is drift (after the lag of coming out of the egg of course), resulting in a KO from falling straight down. besides, he probably didnt have enough time to mention every character. like jiggly's pound
@Poltergust Just out of curiosity, have you ever done it Polt? I've done it once, but I couldn't even get back to grab the ledge on FD so I just died anyway =b
im curious; when it comes to the trajectory manipulation part of di, is it basically just reading an attack and di'ing, or is there a bigger time-frame than i think there is?
Is there going to be a part 3? I've heart that with some characters it's faster (if you don't need to fastfall) to airdodge instead of aerialing into momentum cancel. For instance, many say it's faster to airdodge into bike with Wario instead of fair/dair into bike. Or is it actually better to aerial into bike since you can drift during the aerial? Thanks
@banjokazooiefan3 No, Jigglypuff's Pound does not have the same properties as G&W's down-B, DK's up-B, or Yoshi's side-B. Those three moves completely stop your momentum. Also, it is still possible to recover if Yoshi is high enough.
heres my question. can you begin drifitng the second you get hit, or is your DI stronger when you begin drifting as close to frame 26 as possible? also, could you make a video showing all the characters momentum canceling, as in using their fastest ending aerial?
@JohnZobac i've heard it too, not sure if it actually is the fastest aerial move, but if so, its better to use airdodge when knocked back horizontally (not vertically, cause you need to fastfall asap and you cant ff out of an ad). anyways, this info is almost useless, cause once you can DI, you will hardly get off the stage with such a horizontal knockback. however, if you fail DIing upwards, you'll probably fail momentum cancelling with an ad, too.
@Poltergust well pound slows down a lot of the side momentum, as well as rollout for jigglypuff, but i see wat u mean and yoshi has to be high and their opponent will be waiting to punish them on the stage
@YOSHssb Yes, you can make it back to the ledge if you get knocked to a corner. Of course, you can be easily edge-hogged.... It's most useful on walk-off sections of certain stages.
@ImKiij I'd say it would be a really special occasion if that's so lol. Air dodge doesn't cancel any momentum at all and is kinda slow anyways, so if you chose to do so, you really have to use a character with only heavy aerials. Atm the only character I can come of would maybe be ike, if he wants to do the side b or something ... what matters to wario, I think his fair and MC into bike is more efficient than air dodging into bike. Like the video said; warios drifting is amazing
So for momentum cancelling you would have to do it after you initially DI right? because you're already moving the control stick to DI so you'd have to wait until DI'ing is over before you attempt to change the direction of the control stick to momentum cancel?
Im confused with the b move part, Do you have to use a b move, as someone told me to use simply the fastest aerial which for marth i think would be nair. Should i use nair or dancing blade to help control my di?
It's either nair or fair. Probably fair. The reason you want to use your fastest ending aerial is because you can use a B move as fast as possible. Dancing blade carries momentum over from the direction you're going so that would probably actually help kill you. Shield breaker is probably the way to go, but I'm not sure.

I still haven't found the answer for this. Have you found out when you're supposed to move the joystick?
guitarskills2 When your hitlag ends is when it takes your stick position.
+Brandon Galletta Extremely late reply but
You have to hold the joystick while in hitlag, if you hold the joystick while in hitstun, nothing happens.

@wonfsmacho As far as I know, that doesn't automatically cancel momentum, just decreases it by a significant amount.
@Tikun123 Most do but some b-moves are exceptions. G&W bucket, DK up-b, Wario bike, Diddy side-b, Yoshi eggroll are the main exceptions.

My DI just leveled up. Hype.
Called it.

@anmax It still has its uses; it's just extremely situational.

@Poltergust Also you can cancel momentum with zss' down B
damn old vgboothcamp

so it's DI after DI
What, no mention of Yoshi being able to completely cancel momentum with Egg Roll like DK and G&W, GiMR? =/
isn't better to do aerial + jump + B move than aerial + B move?
I explained how it has situational uses.
But ... B-moves on your DI makes you go higher, right? It can kill you on certain DI.

song name?
explain examples with Ganon!
@Roanoke884 false? how so?
If you cancel with wario's bike touching the blastzone, you will die since you are connected to the bike :(
*along
@Poltergust and sonic! DownB
why are you so much more useful than the BBR?
@dynomite31 that is false
