What string should we review next??
Vacation Tennis gut/poly hybrid hehe
Hybrid this string with a spin g, black code 4s, rpm blast rough...or any other spin string like a weiss ultra cannon
dj Blackwing definitely want to, that’ll be a nice switch up from full bed poly
oz turk just received in the mail spin g, rpm blast rough, ultra cable, and fire stroke!
@@EvokeTennis great minds think alike ...I just got the rpm rough and spin g and head sonic pro edge
Poly tour pro is a fantastic string. after months of testing i finally found the perfect string. Great control and pocketing (23-24kg). I play with tecnifibre tf 305
Thanks for that great review!
I really like how you addressed the confusing marketing of this string 👍🏼
habib ziayee maybe they should redo it because it’s a great string but hard to tell unless you try it!
I love the Yonex Poly Tour Pro 17. I've tried Luxilon Alu Power Rough, Champion's Choice, Technifibre Multi Feel, Volkl Cyclone, Babolat RPM Blast, Luxilon Smart, etc., and this is the best for my case: using a Wilson Clash 100 at 50 lb. This string and the racket are perfect together. My drops are amazing, curving, spinning back. My topspin is super bouncy. My serves are superb. All these only happen with this string. I got a reel with the blue color. Snazzy! Oh, thanks for your video, but may I suggest you set the volume of the music playing while you're on the court to the same level as your voice? The music volume jumps to such a loud level, it's deafening. Ouch!
Thanks for the heads up on the audio, this was one of my earlier videos and have made some improvements since then in recent videos 👊
Sad. But we are all effected by cosmetics. I love that yonex gives you colour options for their strings (probably a Japanese domestic market thing).
I roll in RF97A in all glorious matte black and laser etching (occasionally in red and black original...). Yonex allows me to go smooth Black on Matte Black for the ladies or Darth Vader Red and Black Ice Cold Cool for the kids (and the ladies)
first of all, this is the most aesthetic tennis channel I've ever found on UA-cam
second, awesome review of the string; it really played into the part of my choice of purchase
third, just a little suggestion, instead of the music cutting off so sudden maybe fade it out each time or perhaps fade it so that during when you are talking it becomes background music
anyways, you earned a sub today!
Thank you Snowy, really appreciate that and having you here. I think tennis deserves some good aesthetic videos right? Good feedback on the audio - I was actually trying this specific technique in this video of the abrupt cuts to accent certain points and statements (see Matti Haapoja's videos where he does it nicely), but I'm afraid I didn't pull it off too well with the music choice and just threw it together. Did some more traditional fade in/out in the Wilson Sensation and Klip gut reviews. Thanks so much for the feedback because it'll make me consider the whole picture like mood, music, feel to pull of a certain technique in the future.
the BG music cutoff was an artistic choice! i peeped it and liked it. similarly with the hilarious ending! lol
You should try Yonex poly tour strike. It plays like rpm Blast meets alu power but softer and great control and ball pocketing . Aldo has great tension maintenance
music and production is ace 👌👌
could give tecnifibre ice code or isospeed cream a try, both highly rated on TW
Thanks buddy, trying to improve each and every one, while also just getting it out there. Already on the next!
@@ACTennis will add it to the list, cream has to be the best name for a string ever, although I've heard it's not so creamy but we'll just see about that
It is a soft and comfortable string. It has a very nice sweet feel. Great ball pocketing. Maybe the best ball pocketing experience I had. Feels almost like a multifilament. I think spin isn't the strong suit of this string, it is best to hit a bit more flat with this string, I use it in a 93sq Prestige Mid.
Poly tour strike and spin are good too. I find all Yonex strings being comfortable and spin friendly. Test suggestion: Tecnifibre Black Code 4S
Thanks for the tips and suggestions Joakim! Did you try Poly Tour Spin G? That's the only other one Ive tried a couple reviews ago and it was so different than PTP
@@EvokeTennis Have only tried the blue PT Spin which is a bit stiffer and more Hyper G like but still good on the arm and with excellent control, spin and durability. Not a finess string though.
They need to water them courts dawg!
Yes. I grew up playing a lot on similar courts. A sprinkle of water and they go from passable to amazing.
About 3 old blokes in town who actually could/would.. I was an apathetic kid that wasn't shown and didn't have the wherewithal to ask...
lol, i was thinking the same thing!!
Very comfortable and durable but loses tension very quickly. I string Clash Tour at 44 but it drops to 37 after a match or two and settles there.
Very interesting how they were able to do this with this string. Honestly the sweet feel at impact reminded me of Hyper G at the baseline, obviously minus alittle spin potential... Comfortable enough to hammer from the baseline, but enough feel to it that you feel like you can hit angled volleys and droppers near the net. I feel like volleys are effortless with this string and you can really punch em deep w/ ease if you get it on the sweet spot... Tested it against RPM Blast in my VCORE 95 and PTP won by a long shot. RPM Blast was very nice, but erratic. I felt like for every good shot i hit, one would go 10 feet over the net and 5-6 feet long. I used 16L @ 52lbs.
Poly Tour Fire is my favourite Yonex string. So under rated. Addictive feel and sound, yep it sounds good too 😉
Thx so much for this purchased it today wondering if it was good HELP THIS MAN GET TO 1K
FelineSom YT glad it helped man, I really loved this string, feel like it’s a little underrated. Will definitely be putting it back in soon, and mixing with some hybrids
Great review. I have a reel of it. You're right on the 💰 dude! 😀👍
Thanks this has to be my fav string I tried in 2019 and it's always calling my name when I'm about to restring
@@EvokeTennis Another string I tried and liked alot is the sigmun pro yellow jacket. Butter smooth feel to it. Try it. I'd like to hear what you think about it.
Wilson NXT ...full bed. Would be nice to see a review for a multi in this poly world 😀
stickmano0o That’s a great idea I think we could all use a break from poly from time to time! NXT is one of the best, and there are so many good multi’s out there. Poly doesn’t even come close to the feel, only can try to replicate it
@@EvokeTennis i like head velocity mlt for the price. imo the durability is way better than nxt and it is a little crisper too
You have a very nice forehand technique. I wish I could hit like you.
Wow, thank you - you can do it too!
you gotta review Kirshbaum max power. Best poly out there, plays like alu power but better and tension lasts forever since its pre stretched. criminally underrated string.
Great video I just ordered the string, and turn down the sound of the music in vids which would be so much better.
I would turn it down but it was like 4 years ago and I had no clue what I was doing
The court needs to be watered
We need a Vacation Tennis spotify playlist! Please make it happen
bro I never seen tennis being played on a beach before
🤣 straight up playing on a desert lmao
Fantastic string!
just ordered these strings for my Head racket, eager to see how the combination will work, at the same time i'm pretty sure it will be awesome since Wawrinka uses them and Kyrgios probably at some point too
Congrats Aleks, let me know how it goes. If its good enough for Kyrgios right!? I'd def recommend going on the safer side with lower tension and be mindful of how long you keep them in for.
Some people say its better than RPM Blast, what do you think? Naomi Osaka does a hybrid with the Rexis Speed, do you have any thoughts on that string?
What racquet did you string and at what string weight did you string it to?!
The racquet looked dope!
Yonex Poly tour pro or head hawk touch, which is more comfortable?
Which provides the biggest sweet spot?
Rodrigo Lana have not yet tested head hawk touch, but have been meaning to! I thought PTP was more comfortable than hyper g and also had a bigger sweet spot. Maybe I’ll give head hawk a try and see! Thanks for chiming in glad to have you here 😊
If you want comfort, check out the Lynx Touch.
Fantastic review . How does it compare to the poly tour fire?
Have you ever heard of a topspin backhand?
How does this compare to poly tour fire 🔥?
Thank you bro. What’s your tension?? and your racket patten please.
Hey no problem I think this one was 43lbs full bed, 2 pc, Yonex Ai 98 16X19 310g. Flexy racket which was a good fit for this more lively springy string. Cant wait to try this string in 1.15
Getting off the usual, well-worn path, how about a review of Yonex Rexis? Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the review. Since this is a bit thinner than 16l, do you get more power out of it ? How is the tension maintenance compared to 16l ? The 16l ptp lasted about two weeks and I felt like restringing it to get the fresh feel.
hey it would be a very small difference, and the tension maint would be worse with 17. Probably 1.5 weeks compared to your 2. If you try 18 (1.15) the effect will be more noticeable, 1 week in my experience
Hi big fan of this channel from India, I have just ordered PTP 120, what tension should be ideal for PTP ? In Lb please.
I'm currently using Babolat pure strike with 48lbs PTP. Can you tell would lower the weight of string would have a better impact ?
And the way this string feels are there any other strings in market who have same or better feel than PTP if yes can you please share.
Cheers
hey thanks for the helpful and fun reviews! which dr is your racket?
No prob! It’s an Ai which came before the dr
@@EvokeTennis Nice! I am currently using ezone xi and I love it, have you tried xi before? what do you think about those old and new generations of ezone? I can find a new Ai for 80bucks in my country, would it be worth getting one and try?
What tension are you using?
how this compares to Solinco Hyper G & Confidential?
It's closer to Hyper G in terms of feel, where Confidential is the stiffer of all these. I thought it had more feel than hyperg, lower launch.
Can you do a review on Yonex polytour spin???
WHER IS YOUR BACKHAND DRIVE/TOPSPIN BACKHAND
Just going back through some videos and saw this, I literally lost my 2 hander. The slice was just working and people tell me it gives them so much trouble in matches, so even though it's horrible it somehow works LOL
How do u know when it's time to cut the string out? I'm having trouble figuring that out.
Alupower Soft review pls !
Hyper g vs poly tour pro? Pros and cons? Ive been contemplating on buying a reel of yonex ptp for weeks now. Planning on putting it as a cross to my hyper g mains just to get the price down on my string sets. Thanks
Those are my two favs so far! For me Hyper-G was the leader of the two in the control department and shined when you needed to flick the ball around short and wide with the bitey 4 sides, but you had to be careful of the launch angle at that 43 lbs tension. YPTP on the other hand had a better pocketing feel and had a more aggressive snapback with a quicker response - bigger pop on flat serves and was a bit more predictable to play with. I love both, would love to do a side by side comparison of those two and also the hybrid that you mention might give you a little more feel out of the bed.
One question here.I found this one but with blue Color. Are they the same?
Nick Wu from what I know it is the same, however many players tend to say that the different colors of strings change the way they feel slightly. Just the color alone has an emotional impact to some people, so that could be some of it
luxilon smart is probably one of the more interesting out there if you haven't covered it already
thanks for the suggestion, need to get my hands on some
How is Pro comparing to Poly tour Air in terms of power, feel, softness?
Using this with outlast. Hope it works
cool
Hi Buddy, do you recommend this one to my HEAD MICROGEL RADICAL MIDPLUS? If yes, at what tension?
hey looks like this racket is sort of similar to my Yonex, around 310g and not too stiff. If 18x20 you can go even lower tension than 16x19. Would have to see your strokes to truly recommend it but as long as your arm is feeling good I would start around 45 lbs and see how it goes.
@@EvokeTennis Thaks a lot bubby.Actually I've modify my Racket already. I add 10 grams of tungsten tape at 3 and 9 o'clock and counter weight 15 grams of silicon in the handle..Last month I've tried stringing 52 lbs of Technifibre Pro red code on that racket but my elbow started to sore that's why I restring it with Head velocity Multifilament.I dont get the spin i needed on this multi and i plan to go back to a better spin potential polyester maybe after a month from now.In your own opinion in terms of spin , control and playability, does this YONEX POLY TOUR PRO 17 is better than WEUSS CANNON ULTRA CABLE?.
Hi. I tested this in a Babolat Strike 98 and I am not very happy. It seems that the ball sails long a bit, like I miss the necessary topspin for the ball to dip in. How do you think this compares to Luxilon Alu Power? I am interested in trying out next Yonex PolyTour Spin of PolyTour Rev. How do you think those would compare? Thanks!
Hey from what I remember this in 120 had more spin than alu power 115, alu power being more of a power string. I was not able to put Spin G or PT Rev to work with my strokes so I found PTP much more matched to my game
Hi guys . Has anyone played extensively with the Head Gravity Hybrid string ? The one with triangular mains n circular crosses...
How does it play compared to say a normal full bed poly like the Dunlop Black widow ?
Tks a lot.
What tension?
45 lbs here. I've tried 47 and 43 as well on this string
How's this string compared with Luxilon 4G Soft ?
Hey 4G Soft played a lot stiffer than this despite the name. PTP more pocketing and launchy, 4G soft more control and responsive. I think 4G Soft is more suited for someone who prefers a very stiff and controlled feel.
what tension did you use? Im using the Vcore98 and tried the hyperg 52lbs. Idk if its the racquet but it hurt my arm and felt too stiff, no pocketing at all. So I tried this PTP 1.20 hybrid with syngut at 50lbs, improved feel, no arm pain but had NO control. Now Im gonna try full bed of this PTP 1.20, but have to up the tension a little to regain control, maybe 54lbs? what do you think? Im a little afraid of my arm hurting again with full poly on this stiff racquet, but its a good poly for arm pain I believe.
So instead of 50lbs hybrid with Syngut, going for 54 lbs with full bed could work right? If I cant regain control or the arm pain comes back Im done with this racquet
Thanks!! Subscribed
LaSalviaBodysurf for full bed poly I’ve been at 43 lbs for a while now, but it takes some getting used to with the control for sure, but it’s all a trade off for comfort and you can get some huge balls and spin from that tension - just have to deal with the misses. I’d say if you have arm pain it’s best to back off for a bit and go super soft, yes at the expense of control but it’s worth it for your arm. Full bed of NXT or something like that on a flexy racket while you heal and strengthen back up could be worth it for the long run. Thanks for the sub and watching, awesome to have you here!!!
Just thinking more about it, it might be worth demoing a clash or a flex racket to see if that helps the situation. When I switch to the RF97A here and there it's night and day, the off center hits are harsh. Then I switch back to my flexy ai98 and it's way smoother. Another thing is keeping that loose grip with your hand, and the key to being able to have a loose grip is making sure your overgrip is tacky or fresh, so you can confidently swing loose without worrying about it flying out of your hand. Then there's extra early prep so you're not late and arming stuff, which will also help with hitting clean sweet spot balls. All these things, and strings, are important to be able to keep playing over the long term.
@@EvokeTennis yeah, totally agree with you, even overgrip is important. I was using the Kfactor90 340g, loved the feel of that racquet, felt like an extension of my arm, you could really feel the ball. But I couldnt handle it more than 1hour of play, started to hit very late and had some arm pain. In Brazil we cant really demo racquets, so I blind bought 2 yonex vcore98, the brand is doing very well so I gave it a try. It actually improved my tennis so much, much more spin power and I can swing faster.
But like I said, didnt like the feel at all and with this hybrid the balls are flying on me, but if I can regain control with a full poly and higher tension without hurting my arm, I dont care about the feel if it lets me play better. If it doesnt work out im thinking about buying the blade v7, its flexy and with good feel ( at least on reviews).
Thx for your help!
@@EvokeTennis i just put in my clash 100 weiss cannon scorion 1,22 at 47 lb (which is another popular soft poly) and the raquet is soft and powered as it should be! I had volkl cyclone at 49 lb and the raquett was muted , way stiffer and didnt like it at all!Next project is yonex poly toyr pro but i was thinking of 1,25 instead of 1,20 (what do you think?) Thumbs up for low tension! (just recovering of my first elbow injure)
I always think if you are recovering from any injury it's best to play it on the safer side until you are completely confident, so I'd go with the thinner gauge to provide a little extra comfort. Then as you feel better and better you can work your way back up to whatever gauge you want. With the PTP just restring it when it goes dead cause it happens kind of quick.
When you were playing tennis, I saw that your shots weren't really going to the baseline as much. Is it the strings or just your power, or am I just mistaken?
user error, just dropping them too short
@@EvokeTennis gotcha thx for clarifying!
Hey bud just strung my Ezone 98 with this PTP 120 which tension you recommend in KG's? (Great Review btw)
Luther Layman I would say 20kg is a good starting point on ptp then you can adjust up or down from there on your next restring
@@EvokeTennis thanks so much!
@@EvokeTennis what does 20kg = in pounds tension ?
@@cp_703 44 lbs
im using ai 98 as well but i care the vibration of it. dont you care? there is no vibration of my ex racket blade 98 2015. how do you think about ai 98 overroll
Yeah I remember not liking this racket when I first got it, just couldn't figure it out so I put it in the bag for a couple years and used the RF97. Then I pulled it out one winter for something lighter and just rolled with it. It may have some vibration but I think its worth it for the flex and comfort. Use a thick overripe and grip your hand lightly and it will smooth out
How does this compare to tour bite soft 17?
PTP is springier, more responsive, snappier, more control. TB Soft has more specific pocketing feel, and has less feedback. I think TB soft has a softer feel overall, and is shaped so has a a grippier feel. Less control with TB soft and you have to add a lot of margin when going for lines, but it can surprise with heavy balls. For me, TB Soft for comfort and daily grinding, but bust out PTP when you want to feel more like a pro. Two of my fav strings, thanks for asking!
i just tested in on a vcore 98 2021 and this string sucks. It feels mushy, on flat serve lacks power and has not great spin potential.
Do kirschbaum proline II.
Hey just got some in the other day, 18 gauge! Thanks for the recommendation
Vacation Tennis cool, I ordered some 18g by mistake since I prefer 17 or 16, but I’m using it anyway. I hybrid it with natural gut. I have also used a whole reel of it set up in the mains with cheap synthetic fit in the crosses for years some time ago. I like it. By the way it’s on sale at TW now at 1/2 price if you buy a minimum of 3😀
Gut not fit
Solinco Hyper G, Volkl Cyclone, Ytex Quadro Twist and Signum Pro Yellow Jacket please!
Mikey Frijoles great suggestions I have a lot of work ahead of me 👍. If you haven’t seen it yet I already did Hyper G in the first episode, check it out!
Vacation Tennis perfect 👌🏿! Loving the channel man. I just purchased my first stringer and loving it maybe a video too on stringing and tips
@@28mcavanaugh thanks buddy glad you are here welcome to the crew! Congrats on the stringer I found mine on FB almost perfect condition!
PTP is the most comfy poly 👌♥️
Kevin It is! Also alu power and tb soft are some of the more comfy I’ve tried
@@EvokeTennis Alu power confortable ? Just destroyed my elbow in 2 hours... (45 yrs old, not 22 ! :)
@@teddymikefunk alu power 18 gauge is comfortable for a poly. But if you want real comfort go with a full bed x-1 biphase 18 😎
Vacation Tennis My opinion as senior player:
What you said about Alu Power is just dangerous, terrible. One of the stiffest poly in the game. I know so many players with GE or TE due to this string.
For a softer poly arm friendly, cream / ghostwire / yonex poly tour air, but please, you have to think about tennis players above 35 yrs old, and Alu Power is definitely one of the worst regarding confort.
@@teddymikefunk Mike I’m sorry to hear you found it harsh. I don’t just casually say it’s comfortable, I just released a 13 minute review video on it with weeks of playing and testing. Either way, I’m on a pretty forgiving frame, 18 gauge, 45 lbs. from my testing I would say alu power 18 gauge comes in very close to isospeed Cream 17’s stiffness rating of 178.
My reviews are in context, I try to dive deep into the string and how it compares to similar that I’ve tried. In my review I reference luxilon’s typical stiffness rating in the low 200’s with alu power 18g being a different animal when compared to the 16g.
For older players if you’re set on poly then I recommend 18 or 19g, restring at 10-12 hours, low ra racket. If comfort is everything then full bed x1 biphase 18. Would love to help you find your perfect set up if you need more ideas please contact me.
what's your opinion on PTP vs 4G Soft? (both "soft" round co-polys)
4G Soft wayyy stiffer of a string, more traditional classic feeling and spin level. Longer lasting. Firmer and cleaner feel. PTP is definitely softer, more specific deep pocketing feel, but very springy and fast acting response and feedback. Does not last long but sweet while it does!
@@EvokeTennis thanks for the info. Sidenote: PTP 125 seems to be much better at longevity than 120
What tension did you string your racket at using this string? TJX
45 lbs on this.
this 120 is really confortable on the arm

But no touch more like a wooden board. My kirschbaum spiky shark 1.25 I did like at 27kg.but I never tried lower tensions. Until yesterday with my new string signum pro xperience 1.30. Suddenly I had fun with all of my shot not only my forehand. Next time I am even gonna drop it another 2kg soo 22kg. I thought with the lower kg de ball was gonna launch often but that was not the case. I am still getting used 2 it. I did not feel extreem ball bite but when I was warm up and my techniek was getting beter I good do gracy spin a very nice slice. Kickserve a lot of fun or a little side spin. @@jeroenmolenaar8832 hey so I read your post and had to look up how high 27kg is in lbs (how we measure tension over here) and WOW that is almost 60 lbs so can imagine that's like a wooden board. 22kg takes a while to get used to but you can get very heavy bounces easier. Yes, I have some Black Shark here been meaning to try again. I tried it years ago and remember it being pretty stiff, wirey feeling but will give it another go at 20kg to see how it does - will review this soon!
What string tension did you apply on this setup? Thanks!

what's the Tension you used?
Gigi F. 43 lbs, pretty much been using that tension for full bed poly for comfort. Just bumped to 45 on 18 gauge
@@EvokeTennis I have the Yonex vcore pro 97 and after your review, I got the yptp strung at 52lbs. Feels stiff and I think due to the tension I'm using I am not taking advantages of what it offers.
@@paulinesantoni612 I would bump it down to 45 lbs next restring and see if you can get comfort there. There will be more power, more comfort, but it will take some getting used to with control. If you're not getting enough comfort there I'd look into using ptp as a cross with some multi mains. Let me know how it progresses, as I've never hit with a vcore pro so not sure how stiff that is
I'll do that! thanks for your response!!!!!!!
How is it compared with hyper g.?
I found hyper g to be gummier feeling and sharper, more late dive on the spin, more stable bed. PTP more snappy, more lively, more pocketing feel. Both had high performance then a sharp drop-off
So when PTP starts to die, what is the failure mode? Does the spin go away (implying that there a coating that wears through or that notching is making it sticky)? Or does it become too elastic (I.e. rocket launcher)? Or does it lose elasticity (and become board-like)? Thanks!
It's been a minute since I've had it in, but I mostly remember the comfort going away pretty quick, harshened up a bit. Also the spin wore off, not surprising because the coating is super shiny and slick. If you can keep up with it, it's a great string!
@@EvokeTennis I think this is a problem for any string that relies on a coating for slipperiness. I wonder if spin goodness could be maintained longer by using slippery string savers (Babolat) in the sweet spot from the start?
@@EvokeTennis 100%, I have a reel of blue 17 it's the best string for about 3 sets (never seen a ball move so much with pop) and then it's dead and gets super average imo.
Great editing and you did manage to get the point across, however I found you weren't very structured. It seemed you didn't have too many different words to use so you said the same thing at different parts of the video in order to fill up the length. This could be avoided by preparing a short script of written set of talking points next time :)
you nailed it I was all over the place in this one, it was one of the more free form styles I tried out, trying to find the balance of good points for the viewer, entertainment, fun , different, experiential etc. Thanks for your input it really helps.
@@EvokeTennis Nothing I love more than creators who accept constructive criticism. Looking forward to more videos - for now I will hit that subscribe button!
How does this compare to hyper g
NPJ Pro ptp is springier, livelier, and more powerful. It has a more pockety feel. Hyper g is sharper, and slightly deader feel. I was more impressed by ptp’s performance overall and can’t wait to try 1.15
