I have planted 4000 plants in 1.5 Acres of land. I'm using the MITTLEIDER's Method of raised beds for plants. My Plants are INDETERMINATE category of F1 Hybrid-Beef, and are now 2 years old. I had the seeds imported in from Bangaladesh. Each Plant is 8 feet tall. I have to trim tops on a weekly basis otherwise the plants will continue to grow tall and will eventually become unmanageable. I get 15-20 Kgs of fruit per plant. In Lahore we can have 3 crops in a good year. Otherwise its 2 crops. But either ways the return is , ALHAMDOLLILAH, Beautiful. ALHAMDOLLILAH. All praise to the LORD!!!
Trimming tops off the tomato plants actually increases the fruit production as the nutrients are channeled towards fruit production rather than leaf production.

Retail price for tomato in Hyderabad, Pakistan region is around PKR 15/- per kg. This is the average price. I've bought tomatoes at Rs. 5/- per kg as well. So tomato (and onion) is not ALWAYS very profitable. Yes, at times a grower can even earn more than what you've mentioned. And that's just one factor. It might be easy in the UK, but not so in Pakistan.

You didn’t calculate the cost soil and fertiliser and also the pots if there is not land available. Tomatoes are most prone to insect attack so you need organic insecticides.coming from a family of growers, I do believe it’s profitable but you have missed quite a bit in between. Do you know the regular tomato variety is sold at wholesale rate 1 rupee at the fields. If you divide the charges of Suzuki by the number of Kgs it can carry, about 10 rupee per kg transportation cost is added by the time it reaches sabzi Mandi. And when it reaches the neighbor hood green grocers, it sells for 50 rupees per kg.
Manje your own fertilizer from home waste. Soil you can have from waste land. Used cement bags, bori etc can use as pot Keep Rice soaked water for few days in dark place it become insecticide Plant rare varieties to get high price. Last bit not least Business people Har cheez me keedey nikalte wo solution doondtey. And Tum business ke layaf nahi ho.

Yap that's true but I can't say that for 100% farmers. Many of the farmers own land and still are under the poverty line. That can be because of other factors like disguised unemployment but I know for a fact that farmers are poorest in India. 80% Of India's Poor Mainly Depend On Farming. Now many people will argue there are farmers in Haryana & Punjab who are rich af. I know that but I cant still understand how practical is farming to become rich ?

Bro I am a landlord and we are doing this for years. And usually we sell them for Rs. 70-80 per shopper which weighs around 13 kg. And most of the time we are in loss or make a very small profit. It was a very profitable crop untill Pakistan started importing tomatoes from India. This importing affected tomatoes farming in a bad way. Last year we were totally in loss, we even set our livestock animals in tomatoe fields because we were spending Rs 100 per shopper to sell it in the market and the rate of 1 shopper was Rs. 50. But when Things got worse with India, they cut off their tomatoe export with Pakistan and after that we had to move our cattles in hurry and sold those same shoppers for around Rs 500 to 700.

So tomato (and onion) is not ALWAYS very profitable. Yes, at times a grower can even earn more than what you've mentioned.
And that's just one factor. It might be easy in the UK, but not so in Pakistan.

You didn’t calculate the cost soil and fertiliser and also the pots if there is not land available. Tomatoes are most prone to insect attack so you need organic insecticides.coming from a family of growers, I do believe it’s profitable but you have missed quite a bit in between. Do you know the regular tomato variety is sold at wholesale rate 1 rupee at the fields. If you divide the charges of Suzuki by the number of Kgs it can carry, about 10 rupee per kg transportation cost is added by the time it reaches sabzi Mandi. And when it reaches the neighbor hood green grocers, it sells for 50 rupees per kg.
Manje your own fertilizer from home waste.
Soil you can have from waste land.
Used cement bags, bori etc can use as pot
Keep Rice soaked water for few days in dark place it become insecticide
Plant rare varieties to get high price.
Last bit not least

That can be because of other factors like disguised unemployment but I know for a fact that farmers are poorest in India. 80% Of India's Poor Mainly Depend On Farming. Now many people will argue there are farmers in Haryana & Punjab who are rich af. I know that but I cant still understand how practical is farming to become rich ?

Bro I am a landlord and we are doing this for years.
And usually we sell them for Rs. 70-80 per shopper which weighs around 13 kg.
And most of the time we are in loss or make a very small profit.
It was a very profitable crop untill Pakistan started importing tomatoes from India. This importing affected tomatoes farming in a bad way.
Last year we were totally in loss, we even set our livestock animals in tomatoe fields because we were spending Rs 100 per shopper to sell it in the market and the rate of 1 shopper was Rs. 50.
But when Things got worse with India, they cut off their tomatoe export with Pakistan and after that we had to move our cattles in hurry and sold those same shoppers for around Rs 500 to 700.
