I really like the moving the light especially for bigger products it adds more deepth then just moving the camera. Im honsetly pumped to see more videos .you have a very warm personality keep it going.

Love the backlight and split lighting techniques. My favourite tip was to use negative fill. I almost never use that dark side of my reflector and even sometimes forget I have it. Great video Sam!

Those are all great tips, Sam! For my food photography, I personally use a 45 degree back/side lighting technique with, or without a filler reflector - depends on how much of a moody vibe I want to go for. I've never tried a direct overhead light for shooting food before, so I know what I'm gonna do tonight! Thanks again! 😀

Thanks to this video, I realized that the problem I was having wasn’t that my SL-60 is underpowered, but that I’m placing it too far from my products. One question I didn’t see asked was what is the stick LED light you are using to create the rim highlights with?
Can you recommend a soft box for the sl60w that doesn’t involve such a tedious break down like the Godoy or Neewer models? I heard there are similar ones to the spitfire that are much easier to set up but at a fraction of the cost. Great video as always. Glad I found the channel.

I think it’s just the power output. It probably also depends on what you’re used to. This was my first “proper” light so for me, it seemed amazing but now I’ve used more powerful lights, I can see that the 60w can lack. But it’s totally passable for most UA-cam type things... depending on what it is of course and a number of other factors. I hope this makes sense 😂 thanks for watching 🙏🏻🎥

Hi Rose. Thanks for watching! That’s exactly it! The bigger the product/subject, the bigger the light. I guess it all depends on the theme of the shoot... that will then determine what you want in your background. There are so many options and variables. Hey Mickey. Thank you my friend 🙏🏻🤩 I’m pleased you find the videos informative. Yeh it would be good if the light was a little brighter for higher shutter speeds and aputures at times. All this B Roll was filmed at 25fps on the slow setting on my slider but other b roll I have done, I have used the Godox and slow motion. You can get away with it, especially for the price BUT if you want that extra bit of power, you’re better off with the 150 or 200. Hope this helps! 🙏🏻🎥

Hi Rich. Thanks for watching and for the question. Sure! It all depends on what I’m doing but I try and get as close as possible with the light and softbox to create the softest light possible. Depending on the settings of the camera and my lens I have it quite bright. I now use the SL150ii (which I have done some videos on) this gives me a brighter light when filming at higher shutter speeds/slow motion and that really helps. That light also goes down to as low as 1% so it’s super versatile. I hope that helps 🙏🏻

I use the sl60 with a parabolic softbox and I find the light a little.... Not bright enough? Is there a reason that's not doing the trick?
